Do a search for that value in a hex editor, make sure to write down the value somewhere, incase if you get the wrong value when editing.

Oh okay, I get it. But is there no way to avoid that glitch?

Yes, there is one way, you can change the offset, where says IMAGE OFFSET
put a new offset that you can find with Thingy ^^ That way, the sprite of the
pokemon that you are taking out, will stay there, but with the palletes of the
new one, but in the rom the sprite of the 4th generation pokemon will appear... ^^

I'm having a problem, I cant even finish the first town of my hack because the game keeps restarting everywhere, I cant even get past the intro now..

Anyone know why? I've tried like 50 different roms..

Hmmm...I just tried it and your right, as soon as the intro is done, it resets itself.
Maybe you somehow made the patch wrong, or it's not a clean ROM (there are a lot of ROMs that don't work out there.)

I don't know, but i know where you can download rubikon.
It comes with the elitemap package, just download elitemap and find it in there.

You can download elite map from the toolbox forum.

In that folder, there is rubikon.

Also, tell us what happens to make it not work (e.g. error message, etc...)

Is there a rom base that allows you to replace the empty gaps which are between celebii and treeko because a normal FR rom wont let me replace them.

Overworld Editor is pretty simple. Just export the sprite you want to edit, edit it, and import it back. Done.

I really need some help =[

I've tried PokePic and Icon Editor but these are good programs for changing the Pokemon Icons in Ruby! PokePic just has loads of glitches and no instructions, and Icon Editor can do it... but it takes forever and is really unhelpful on a large scale.

Can anybody point me to a program that lets you import images to use as the Pokemon Icons? Please?

so ya wanna edit PKMN icons, ei? I do hink that IconEd is the only hacking program tht can do that job, and it REALLY takes time. :(

The best program is IconEd , i use it, to put Lucario's, Riolu's, Chimchar and evos' icons and more, just open
Paint with the icon and zoom it, choos the correct pallete and star drawing it, it dont take that long, and, y
suggest you that when you finish erasing the icon export it, so you dont have to erase again and again ^^

That is what I have tried, but when I change it, the flower is still red.

Well that is because that colour is located at a different location, where the animation colours are.

No ROM bases have done that yet seeing as there is very limited space.

so the blank space to add pokemon should be at 0x53B16 right?

I think you should be able to add onto the end of the Pokemon Data, if not then try some pointer searching.

I can help with your pokescript problem.

Save your script as all files, then name it "test.rbc"
(no specific name...)

Then, go to open it.
Instead of opening it, right click it and you should see the selection "compile script"

After it goes though a thing, a window will pop up.
Press the book and select your ROM.

THen, another window will come up.
Press the flashlight, then double click the first set of numbers.

Copy the numbers from teh bottom besides the $H

Press ok, then go to file, burn.

Now go insert it in a-map.

For Fire Red/Leaf Green: EA1B60, EA1B7A(flowers)

The word are located at 2008 in unLZ-GBA(256 colour mode). The Charizard on the title screen is located at 2010 in unLZ-GBA(16 colour mode). The Press Star and Gamefreak text is located at 2012 in unLZ-GBA(16 colour mode).

Just go to EA1B60 and change the colour of the flowers there, they are the three red colours >_>

Ok, with your first map make sure to add in the Map Bank and Map Number of where you want it to go. For example if you want it to go to Viridian City(3.1) from Pallet Town(3.0) in the connection heading northwards then in the north connection for Pallet Town put 3 as the Map Bank and 1 as the Map Number. Viridian City(3 <-Map Bank . 1 <- Map Number). Now in the connection heading southwards in Viridian City put 3 as the Map Bank and 0 as the Map Number. Just like before, just different connection. Ok, now the connections should work but the move strangely. You still have to set the adjustment. Let's say on adjustment is 12 and the other one is 6, they are not going to work. So you have to set one as 12 and -12 seeing as they are the same number, besides the negative. Every positive adjustment has to connect to a negative adjustment using the same number, besides 0. 0 can connect to itself so the adjustment for both would be 0. Let's say you have an adjustment of 3 then the other connection would have to be -3.

Yeah, or search for biosnds7.zip, biosnds9.zip and FIRMWIRE.zip or FIRMWIRE.BIN. Hopefully these terms should help.

I can help with your pokescript problem.

This is just done with OverWorld Editor, you just EXPORT/IMPORT your OW

Well it does depend where you want it, the middle shoule be 0, basically it is like one of those linear graphs.

You need to edit from EA1B7A, then go onto the next colour and then the next one.

To change the pokedex info just click the search button in A-Text and just say you wanna edit bulbasaurs you would type in on the left box "There is a plant seed on its back right from the day this Pokémon is born. The seed slowly grows larger" then it show up in the box on the right, then just click "write to ini." and then pick the section you want it in and them you can edit it!

Well the one near the top will probably have to be the positive number and the one near the bottom would have to be the negative number.

Ok, look at what the missing file is (the thing that pops up says the number)

Write it down, and then go to google.
Type in that number, then file download.

A website has it, and you can download it for free.

Then, open a-text and put it in the folder.

I was learning how to make scripts from a tutorial. I just inserted a simple talking script and when I tested it those weird signs came out.

Just rename the name but leave the .gba .gbc ...

(example: Pokemon X.gba)

I have a problem.

I just got sent a patch of a ROM, and i'm scripting for it. After i'm done scripting and save it it doesn't save. On the VBA it's as if i never put anything there.

And don't say its my script, i made sure it was correct, and even if it wasn't, thats no reason for the ROM not to save.

That Pokemon Amplifier only works for a german version of the game.

Is there a certain order to put the numbers in and if so can you show me an example?

Well if you are referring to the Pokemon then there order has to go from 1 to 255, unless you find a way to edit it using ASM.

I've got a problem with A-Map.
I inserted one of my maps,
And the name is blank and when I go to Header View to change the name it won't let me type it in.
What's going on?

Make sure you are inserting maps by going, File > Map >Insert Map. Then select a new spot(create new spot).

Search for trainer's name and after that should be his battling/Pokemon data.

Oh, your supposed to use RS ball.

All you have to do is put your ROM in the same folder as the whole elite map. Then open RS ball (inside elite map) and dump all the pictures of pokemon + Trainers. Then you can use PET.

With the moves, there is a glitch seeing as it starts on Pound and not on No Move or None. So you have to select the attack below the one you want to get that attack. You could also try editing the trainer battles in hex, if this annoys you.

Well, if ya wanna edit the RIVAL's PKMN's and attacks the easy way, then try your luck on searching for Amplifier 2006 Ae...

As I specified "With the moves, there is a glitch seeing as it starts on Pound and not on No Move or None. So you have to select the attack below the one you want to get that attack."

So when you want Pound, you would have to select Karate Chop(2nd in list), Pound(1st in list) should be either No Move or None, so basically you have to select the move the one below the one you wish to use to get the move you want to use.

Here is a simple example:

POUND <- would be NONE
KARATE CHOP <- will be POUND move
DOUBLESLAP <- will be KARATE CHOP move
etc.

Hopefully you will understand this, it is a glitch in PET. They just forgot to add in one option of having no move.

For Fire Red.

You can't find it in unLZ. Try Tile Molester or TLP, it's somewhere at the end.

those codes are for firered...

-Yes, to insert pokemon, use UNLZ gba.
-To edit the moves, use patted (only works for R/S, but one is coming out -for FR/LG i'm pretty sure)
-Then, put them in the grass using advance map.

I'm talking about the Pokedex data. Stuff like the description, number, weight, height etc.

There is a program for that at WAH, i forgot what its called though...I think it was called dexter, and it only works for R/S

What number in unLZ is the trainers back pic?

They should be located around 0xE69FFC in TLP or Tile Molester

Just export the current tileset in Advance Map (Block Editor->Save TileSet) and it will save a .dib and a .pal file where you decide you save it. When replacing tiles you can only have the colours in the .pal file so if you have photoshop or similar you can simply index the .dib file and load the .pal in the colour table so you dont accidentally make a mistake.

1. You need to locate the data of which you put into the ROM, that you did with a tool.

2. The data begins at 0x2547A0.

3. The backpics start at 0xD2FEA0.

Well, how about you redownload the ROMs, or yes, do what Blazichu said.
The problem may still be occuring because of maybe you are loading bad ROMS, so try redownloading some and then try.

Did you try doing Options > Emulation > Save Type > Flash 128K in the VBA? Also if you still cannot load ROM files use the No$GBA as an alternative.

Hello, I'm new here and I was wondering if somebody could help me out. I need help using UNLZ. If I have a PNG that I'd like to edit, how exactly would I change it? I know that I'm supposed to click "Write to ROM" and insert the image/palette offsets, but I have no idea how to find said offsets. I know you can use a HEX editor for that, but I currently am having no luck finding one.

You would need to palette change your image into the colours you want.

i believe it is:

No need for a 1 because the $howareyou is an offset.

EDIT: NO dont do what i said i am wrong, things are different for Pokescript. Sorry for the wrong information

Anyone know what flag is set right after you try to leave pallet town that enables the pokeballs. ie when you talk to the pokeballs it says "these are pokeballs" but after oak brings you to his lab it has "squirtle! The water pokemon" etc.

Well, I downloaded Elitemap, which has tons of different files, but I don't see PET in the folder. For all the tutorials and .exe's that I see, PET, or anything like it, isn't among them. At least not that I can see.

Well, I did manage to figure it out on my own already. But thank you anyway. It turned out that I only needed to search farther on in UNLZ, since Trainer sprites don't start until 1292.

The only solution i can think of here is that its a bad ROM, or something is wrong with the compiler.
Maybe you should try redownloading your ROM(a clean one!) which i will not supply in link or file, or maybe try another program to compile your scripts with to see if it works such as Diamond cutter or ScriptEd, though if you use any of these two you will need to modify your script to suit the style of input.
You could PM me if you want me to change it to the ScriptEd style so you can try it out.

The connection data structure is:
[Map Number][2 Byte Offset of Map][2 Byte Connection Point??][Map Height][Map Width][Map Y-Alignment??][Map X-Alignment??][2 Byte Connection Point??][2 byte Object Pointer][Map Border Tile]

The pointers to the pointers for where the Wild Pokemon are, is at CEB9-CEBA. The pointers to the Wild Pokemon is at CEEB-D0DF. The Wild Pokemon data should be at D0DF-D5C1.

You are better off using hex, you search for the Trainer's name (Text) then after that is the their Pokemon data.

You should be able to find it in advance text, i'm not sure where in it though, as i've never done it, but that's how others do it.

Right click on some blank space in that folder, then go Arrange Icons By > Name. The search for a program called "pet".

Presea's Gold Map Suite contains the Beta Maps(link in my signature, then go GSC > Gold Map Suite). You would have to open the main GoldMap to see the Beta Maps. I wouldn't know specifically what the Map Bank or Map Number would be, seeing as the Beta Maps do not contain any events or Pokemon data.

1.00 is what i use, it doesn't make a difference, i actually found 1.02 to not work as well as 1.00.

i'm trying to insert a sprite it all goes good til the neutral background part its insert and when i check in the game it has no neutral background but the background of the sprite imported in unzl.gba so not good working.

i got a sprite inserted
when i look in game to that sprite it has the same background as in unzl.gba while its supposed to have a neutral background.

Is because you have indexed bad the sprite, what program do you use to
index and how do you do it? Because, you maybe put other optiones, in
PhotoShop you have to put IMAGE / MODE / INDEXED COLORS / SELECTIVE : 16
but the background in the original picture MUST be TRANSPARENT (The little
gray & white squares ^^), when you put that, the background will become
white but it'll have neutral background in the rom ^^

I know now what's the problem with my scripts.I've got a old version of pokescript (1.00). I followed the link to the download (1.02), but the link isn't working. So could somebody post it, please.

Uhh did you install PkmnAdvance er whatever it was called?

I have one question, how many letters/characters fit in the text box. I keep entering too many letters and they overlap the text box. ><

Right click on some blank space in that folder, then go Arrange Icons By > Name. The search for a program called "pet".


Oh, turns out I was looking in the wrong folder all this time (-_-;). Thank you all for helping me with that.

Well, now that I've accessed PET, it seems that in order for me to edit their appearance, I need to import all the sprites of their trainers/pokemon. I know I need to use RS ball for this, but I've run into numerous problems. When I start the program, it always says "Unsupported ROM". Also, it seems to automatically load a ROM, but whenever I clicked "Dump GFX Bank", that phrase keeps popping up. If anybody could help me out I'd appreciate it big time.

EDIT: Now that I think of it, is there a way to edit PokeDex entries? I'm not so sure that Vergil will really fit the whole concept of an Embrace Pokemon...

The only thing you can edit with PokeDex entries is the text written about the Pokemon as far as i know, although there might be ways to edit the height and weight..actually pretty simple that you think about it.. Just search it in a hex editor. Search the text of the Pokemon you want to edit and near it, it should have the data for its height and weight. Or an alternative to edit the text there is to use Poketext.

...okay..here are your answers... but i will respond how you question.

1. Yu is ment tah get teh pikachoos and load them in elite maps. Then you gets the PETs and somehow use PET to put the ROM in elite maps. I are not noob, i dunno propper engwish.

What do you mean by that? Do you mean for the pokecry command? Or do you mean the actual pokemon's cry stored in game that you want to change for some reason?

Copy your ROM and place it in elite map folder.
Then, use RS ball.

As for 3,Yes I did dump the pokemon and trainers and when I'm done editing thr trainer and Pokemon I then click save,and then it says Run time error 76.

Hmm...are you using Fire red or Ruby? I'm pretty sure the one that works for Fire red is in elite map, while the alone one only works for Ruby.
I'm not sure though, i've never had that problem.

I am having problems scripting my ruby version with advance text because it continously glitches my game and now any one playing can't go any farther than the boy telling you not to go in the grass T-T

I have a huge problem with my hack.

In unLZ, there's no Bulbasaur back sprite. Rather, it goes from Bulby's front sprite to Ivysaur's front sprite.

Every time you send out Bulbasaur, the game freezes.

I'm not sure why, since earlier versions of my hack have both Bulbasaur's front and back. Any way to fix this, or do I have to start over?

P.S. It might've been my fault, since I was replacing Bulby's front sprite, but I can't recall doing anything to cause it.

Can somebody please explain HEX editing to me. I've tried to edit text in ruby, but A-text doesn't go far enough to be useful. Apparently I need to use HEX to help me, but when I open it up, all I see are numbers and letter, but I have no idea what to do. All I know is that F's and 0's represent free spaces (or something like that)

You could have overwritten the Front Sprite, and it was too big and overlapped the back sprite screwing it up. You'd have to restart to fix that or re insert the original images to their original spots, or you could insert the original and re-point them to the new spot.

My guide doesn't actually explain scripting. It really just lists all the commands(That I have), but without already having an undertanding of scripting, its pretty much useless to them.

You can use the search function in A-text to find whatever text you want to replace.
Hex editing is the most useful tool that is available to you. Hex editing in FR/LG and R/S/E are just about completely the same. Almost everything is already in the same format. If you can find and use a table file, (there is a thread here somewhere explaining that, or if you kind find it I'm 100% sure, the question has been asked here at least a few times) that should help you find the text you're looking for. Hex Editing is just one of those things you get used to.

I have answers:
1. There are many guides in the documents tutorials, if you bother looking..
2." " Or PM me. (ScriptEd only)
3. Make sure your rom is in the SAME FOLDER as PET and RS ball, and make sure your rom has NO SPACES in its name, so if its Pokemon Fire Red.gba, make it PokemonFireRed.gba.
4. Same reason as above most probably.

1. use a-tack to edit doduo's moves.
2. you have to use APE to change the pallete, there is a guide in the documents/tutorials section on how to do it (actually there are a couple)

My Question is For gold.

I made a script where you talk to a person, then they move somewhere, but I click on her and a text box opens ans the screen turns black.

The command for movement is 69 (because I talked-to-her) and the 2Byte pointer points to: 00 0C 0C 0E 0E 0D 0E.

I know the movements are correct, but I think there is an extra code to tell the game the script ended, like in a message you have to use 57 00 But in a movement, I don't know what it is, I think its 70, but the person isn't following anyone.

Please, can a Gold hacker help me?

i have a question about exporting "raw" map-data from a rom that i can use in other applications like flash.

f.e., the tileset has 100 tiles - exporting it is easy. now i need the map data and i want each map tile to have a number of 1-100, pointing to the correct position in the tileset.
i was hoping i could do that with advance map, but it looks like that won't work.
is there any way to export or convert map data like that?

a little off-topic, but it is possible to export map data from Crystal and import it to Emerald?

When saving, ie Write to ROM, have "Auto abort if new data is bigger" unticked, then it shouldn't have that message.

Your sprite is probably too big, you need to decrease the size.

Umm My Sappy thing won't work.
Whenever I try to Assemble a Song,Sappy closes and a error message comes up.
It might be with the .s file...
I made it so it opens with notepad.
Does the .s file have to do with it?

that is the base exp for each pokemon you battle with that pokemon.
I wouldn't touch it, its too complicated, otherwise you may make it messed up.

Well you would need to palette change (only if they are palette changed) the sprites then import the old ones over it, you could also export the old sprites by opening a clean ROM file by using the Save As... button, then you import the old ones over the new ones that had been included. Also, if you plan to hack your game using the Quartz ROM you would need permission from the creator, even though I find it wrong to do so.

The are a range of tools you could use, like RS Ball, Pokepic and even unLZ.GBA. APE or hex would be used to change the palette of a sprite.

Also remember the D/P sprites are 80 x 80, you would need them to be 64 x 64 to import them correctly.

Well a copy of the english version should come with the EliteMap Installer, I put a link to it a page or two back.

I just need help with the rest basically Picture size thru pointer value facing enemy. I just need a little help with Attacks & HM-TMs

PS: I want the picture size the be the biggest of the three sizes

Names and Pokedex entries are just letters so you would need to probably use the letter search after inserting a table file of somesort. Then follow this:

What is a table file? Like I said, HEX is absolutely foreign to me, so I have no clue how to even find anything.

I was like you once. Well a Table File is a file that contains all of the Characters used in-game, and by characters I mean Letters, numbers, etc. Not Overworlds.

I see (I think). So it affects what type of text-characters are used during specific conversations/reading signs, along with what words are in the Pokedex entries? If so, how do I find and use table files in HEX? A link to such a tutorial would be great.

ya do u guys know anyplace to get an offline tutorial document that teaches pokemon hex editing?

There are lots of little ones for trainer editing, titlescreen cry editing, evolution editing, etc. I don't think there are any big ones. I think you'll just have to find them all.

That is simple scripting, I guess...
Just put a script that'll hide the sailor Overworlds and show the evil rocket Overworld afterwards...

But in the case of changing the PLAYER's overworlds.., then.., I think you need to learn about advance hacking to achieve that...

Can I add new pokemon without replacing the sprites of old ones? I've done hacks in the past of other games and dealt with hex editing to add things but wasn't sure if it worked the same with this game

You could have overwritten the Front Sprite, and it was too big and overlapped the back sprite screwing it up. You'd have to restart to fix that or re insert the original images to their original spots, or you could insert the original and re-point them to the new spot.

Well, I'm no hacking genius like you and Zel are, so could you give me some instructions on how I'd re-insert the back sprite? I tried replacing the one before the front sprite, but that just overwrites the rock animation. D:

There are extra ?? Pokemon after Celebi, you could just edit thos and then add in everything else using hex.

You need to use a tile editor, I recommend TLP or Tile Molester. Then go to the offset: 0xE69FFC in FR/LG, I couldn't find the R/S backpics(might be compressed).

I'm not quite sure what you mean, I want to add to the existing 386 pokemon in emerald by adding some from D/P, for a total of around 420. SO i guess what I'm asking is if there's a memory limit or if it's possible to expand the # of pokemon. I hope that made sense

1. It is way too big, needs to be 64 x 64.

2. It could be using too many colours seeing as it is a DP sprite.

I'm using FR.

You have to make an assumption or just add blocks of each colour used next to the sprite.
