@lukenetty Google is the answer. Zophar's domain have many hex editors. The hex editor i use is trasnlhextion. Just search for it, but i'm sure there are better ones out there

I've been searching the forums and the net. I can't seem to find a program that allows me to change the Pokemon sprites in Red and Blue. I have pokemap, but that only allows for map editing. Does anybody know if said program even exists?

Kinda a weird question.. Say a Flashcard has two GBA roms on it.. is it possible to access another save file and view info from it inside a adv (R/S/E/FR/LG) rom.. kinda like D/P how it reads the slot2 gba savs to upload to palpark.. except I wanna read another sav file inside the same cart
I just want to make a little feature in a hack that says something like "Your correspondent is doing well in [Region name], they currently have Charmeleon, Pidgeot, Alakazam, Dratini, and Articuno on their team."

You can't make your game view the save game's info.

hai, just wanted to know if it's possible to change what pokemons are in a team, this isn't for a hack, only for myself.
i have a geodude that i want to change into some other pokemon. where in the hex is the pokemon, stats, abilities? and is it stored in the save files? (playing on an emulator)

The game already kinda does that. If you have a pokemon in the daycare centre when you link with a trainer then any pokemon they have in their daycare centre will be able to send you mail!
I've seen this happen. Don't know how it works though!
It was a feature added in for the wireless connections supported in the game.

Hmm..there is no program to this day, but I have seen people(expert Red Hackers)struggle with this problem for years, but still no luck. You could search in TLP but they could be decompressed.

Try using AdvanceMap instead of EliteMap as Emerald does not appear to work with it.

I suggest downloading Unlz-gba, which can be found by downloading EliteMap, and then you should try following this tutorial, revamping it, to fit your needs

2 questions:

I suggest downloading Unlz-gba, which can be found by downloading EliteMap, and then you should try following this tutorial, revamping it, to fit your needs

pokepic is a tool that comes with elitemap.
To put the 4th gen pokemon in your game, you will need to either make of find their sprites (remember to give credit!)and then follow Scizz's tutorial! (the link earthsvisitor provided)

2 questions:

1. It would depend on the palette you are using, it should basically be the same colour as the palette you replaced.
2. I am sure the effect can be editted by finding the capturing motion of the Dive Ball in unlz.gba. The capture rate I believe might not be able to be changed, but you can edit the text to say the same as what the Heavy Ball has on GSC.

Pokepic is a tool that can edit R/S in-battle sprites.
You can put 4th generation Pokemon in using Unlz.gba, the Pokemon Sprites are usually found in the 100's-1000's. Also you need to have them indexed and they need to use the same colour as the ones you replace over.

Hi
I need some serious help with advance map and a few other things.
Questions:
1. im making a crystal remake on a leaf green rom.I mapped new bark town over one isle and the heros house upstairs and downstars over the big pokemon centre but when i play the hack i can move perfectly upstairs but when i go dowstairs the character walks up about 2 squares and right 4 squares and starts talking with an invisable bill a celio.This happens all over this map. Any help would be geat for this
2. i tried mapping the heros house on pallet towns hero house and named them new bark town but it names the pallet town map new bark town as well and i want it to stay as pallet town but it wont work. please help.
3. I need a way to look at existing scripts so that i can learn how to script well but i dont know how to find them in a rom.
Help would be great.
4. i need to know how to insert maps in advance map that WORK!!
help please.
5. can someone tell me what the unknown means in a warp on advance map please.

I'm hacking FireRed (US).
How do I change in-game trades? How do I change the Pokémon the guy in the Pokémon Center on Route 4 sells me for $500? And how do I change the Pokémon that you can resurrect from the fossils?
And if it's possible, can I also change the Pokémon's levels?

I THINK it just checks the KeyItem and then gives you the right Pokémon

@Linkandzelda, Here are some answers to help you out
1. I dunno bout that, sorry
2. There is no way to do this, i struggled myself with this for ages, you change one map label, you change them all.....
3. Get elitemap. You load the map where the person or object is with the script you want to edit and ctrl+click it (the script viewer is slightly buggy)
4. Make your map, load advancemap and your own map and click insert map. Either make a new map bank or place your map in an old one.
5. I don't know what the unknown value means, but i usually leave it a 0

Hey I can probably get control better for a ruby game with 4th gen pokes but there is the issue of Turtwig's messed up sprites when I put him instead of Treecko so can someone show me a re-edited Pokedex with all of the 4th gen pokes and their old gen pre-eviolutions or evolutions?

And, i have EliteMap, and with it there was a program called dexter to change the pokemon datas, but all I can do is to change the type, the weight and the height.
How can i change the texts?
Oh, and I´m from Austria (not Australia), so if there are any mistakes, don´t be angry ; )

what version of pokemon are you using?
because i think N-E-A only works with ruby and sapphire
if you're using leafgreen or firered rom (not sure about emerald)
the text that appears in the game should be there in the first column in folders
if you want to edit the pokedex texts, they're not there
so you have to use search and put them into the list so you can change it by yourself
open up dexter and look at one pokemon's pokedex entry
write the first three or four words (EXACTLY, if words appear in capitals, write it in capitals) in the search form and press the search button
in a couple of seconds you should see the whole entry in the text preview
then press add to INI
type in a section name
give it a text name
and press add to INI again
and now you can find the text in the list at the bottom to edit
when you click on the entry in the list, you'll see it under Textbox-Border
you can edit it to your liking, but remember the textbox in the game has a limit
under the textbox it says 0 characters left until repoint
if it stays like that after you edit, you're fine, so click on save text
if it's under or over, it means you put in less or more letters than the original entry
so if it's less, put in empty spaces somewhere
if it's more, try to use less words
long explanation, i know, but it's everything to it ^^;;

Just use pokemon amplifier, it's much easier. Just remember to download the english .ini files.

I did download the English ones, but I don't know where to put them.
Also, I'm using a Hex-Editor, BECAUSE my Amplifier exploded, while I was editting attacks, and now I was gonna hex-edit to fix it.
I have old copies, but I don't want to use them, because I did about an hour of work in between, but, we'll see.

I was working on my hack, Pokemon - The Legend of Ninetales. I wanted to change the data of a Trainer and his Pokemon. My Pet won't work, it keeps saying the path to the Pokemon and Trainer sprites aren't there. So either, how can I fix it, or is there a better program

1. The words from the original text may be from another offset. Search for the original text that appears and edit that too.
2. Which ROM are you trying to open with N-E-A?

I try to hack saphir.

I tried to change the maps with EliteMap, but when I loaded the ROM I wasn´t able to load a level. (2 days ago it worked)

You should both use Advance Map. It's easier and it has more features.

i have a question
i want to make a hack with kyledove's romsbase
but that one got so many glitches like wrong tree places and no gyms and all so i wanted to just change the grass tiles and the ground and trees with out applying the rom base
i wanted to change this th this

everytime i export that patched graas and import it with the normal ruby i get strange colour
on the patched one it showed good one pallete 2. but on the normal one its showed reallt bad at pallete 2 (and other palletes)

Just do a Search through the Text using A-Text, the Search function to the right should help and then you need to write the text to the ini file to edit.

Well sweetie, one method you can do is to use TLP (it comes with Elitemap), and search for the tiles of a Pokémon who's overworld sprite dimensions are the same (like Regirock, etc.) and replace them with Zapdos's overworld sprite.

1. The newest version of EliteMap supports emerald but PET doesn't.
2. It's in unLZ.
4. I don't know why, try re-downloading Tile Molester.

Open your rom in A-Text, on the side you should see search, search for the part of text you want and then when you have found it, write it to the ini file. After doing that exit the search function and you should see the text you found under one of the options there.

Try StudioPokemon, it is a spanish site I think, but they d have some indexed DP sprites.

You could change the second tileset and remap your room into a pier, then you can edit the warp so you can exit the area, otherwise you would probably either have to script a new one or repoint alot of things using hex.

My answer: Put the midi file, mid2agb and sappy (you will need it) into the same directory. Then drag the midi and drop it on the mid2gba/agb (i don't remember) executable. And now copy the ROM and open the copy in Sappy. Now, choose the song you want to replace with the new one and click on the Assemble song option. Choose your *.s file which was created and write the free offset (like 800000) and voiceset offset (you will find one near the song's name while playing) which probably works with the song and then click on the Assemble that ugly thing! button. Wait a while, then click OK when a prompt appears and try the song out. Before you click on the play button, look at the song's name. If Sappy crashes, don't worry and open the Sappy.xml (or something like that - xml file) and look for the name of your song (Pallet town for example - imagine you replaced this one and name lasts). Then, write down its hex number (e.g. 12C) and now open your ROM with AdvanceMap. Open the header view tab in the town which has to have the song. Now, write the hex number for the song (you need AM 1.82) and save your ROM. Now, open it with your emulator and try if the song works. If not, try with another voiceset (the assembly) and the same free offset.

Then drag the midi and drop it on the mid2gba/agb (i don't remember) executable. And now copy the ROM and open the copy in Sappy. Now, choose the song you want to replace with the new one and click on the Assemble song option.
When I drag midis, I don't see ".S" file there.

I´ve got some problems with N-E-A:

You could change the second tileset and remap your room into a pier, then you can edit the warp so you can exit the area, otherwise you would probably either have to script a new one or repoint alot of things using hex.
I translated the page with Google and I don't see where t he sprites are.

i have a question
i want to make a hack with kyledove's romsbase
but that one got so many glitches like wrong tree places and no gyms and all so i wanted to just change the grass tiles and the ground and trees with out applying the rom base

everytime i export that patched graas and import it with the normal ruby i get strange colour
on the patched one it showed good one pallete 2. but on the normal one its showed reallt bad at pallete 2 (and other palletes)

yeah its only german program out for this
english one do not support gold and if you open gold rom you can change only 5 trainers
You will need to use german one or Hex-Editor

I´ve got some problems with N-E-A:
If i load my ROM now, it says Run-time Error ´13´: type mismatch
And:
If I write my own Text with AdvanceText there are still a few words from the original text, but mine is longer than the original one.
Please help this Noob.

Pokemon names can be changes using N-E-A_05, species, height and weight can all be changed in hex unless there is an extended Pokeroms.ini file that can run FR/LG USA roms.

In the VBA, go to Options > Emulator and have Flash 128K ticked.

The basic stats can be found with Pokémon Amplifier. Open your ROM and select a pokémon and check the basic stats.

If you did what Blazichu did and it still doesn't work then your ROM was corrupted. You'll have to restart.

and i have a problem with the border in my hack
i changed the tilesets in the player's room to those of the pier
and the border also changed from black (which was the ninth tile) to grass (which is the current ninth tile)
so in elite map i tried to change it to black, and saved
but every time i reloaded the map, the border was back to grass
then in advance map i changed the border to black but then i got this
no matter what other border i chose it always ended up as this

The Species is basically text so that should not be hard to changes as you can just search for that, but changing the Height and Weight would be a trial and error. So you probably have to change the number codes, one by one.

Open up Unlz.gba with a rom, it should contain all of the sprites, remember they are in the 100's to the 1000's.

EDIT: Never mind, I found one, but how do I use it?
EDIT2: Nope, it doesn't, here's what it says:

Now I changed all the \l's into \n's, but now the VBA crashes when I try to open the ROM.

@BlackDragonite (on windows) right click on your rom and click on properties, there should be two tabs (general and advanced) somewher near the bottom of the general tab there should be attributes, check the box labeled "read only" is not ticked. If you have a mac, it might be the same, i dunno.....

this is more of an I-haven't-been-keeping-up post but a while back someone was working on a program that lets you change where you start so you don't have to do the scripts concerning the truck in RSE.. Did this ever get finished? it might have been mew3 working on it but I dont remember

No, no, you got it all wrong.
Don't move the Inis into the Folder with the hack.
Put the inis in the Folder with N-E-A.
If that still doesn't work, you can use POKEMON AMPLIFIER to edit Pokemon Names too.

1. You need to use eithier EliteMap or AdvanceMap and move the "warp" in "Events" view, to the new position you made the stairs. Or you can make a new warp.
2. There is no easier tutorial. The process is quite advanced and complicated and will take alot of patience and work. Just use this tutorial: http://pkmncommunity.com/showthread.php?t=80975
3. You need to create your own, or have someone else create them, then insert them into your ROM with various tools. For "OVERWORLDS" you can use the Overworld Editor, for Trainer Sprites and Pokemon Sprites, and lots of other ones, things like PokePic, Unlz.gba, and other tools can be used.
I'm assuming your Hacking an Advanced Game, ofcourse.

I suggest using EliteMap, for editting Town names, if you are using a Ruby or Sapphire Rom, because it is easier..
If not, reply here, and then give me a few seconds, and I'll look at AdvanceMap, and tell you your problem.

1.I cahnged where the moving truck is and i want to change where the hero spawns outside of it, so i am not jumping at some random part of the map.
1b.Is there a way where i can change the direction they walk to there house, because they just walk over all of my scenery and it looks bad.
2. In the beginning, right before you get your first pokemon, they make you walk on a certain path, can i change this path to my own path and if i need to add more points to it if that is how it works?

Well basically it is just text, so you can use the search function in A-Text to find it, then you just write it to the ini and then you can edit the text.

so at the moment it isn't compatible

No, no, you got it all wrong.
Don't move the Inis into the Folder with the hack.
Put the inis in the Folder with N-E-A.

Try making a new block, the same as this one, with no top layer, just bottom and it should be fine.

1. Open the map you edited.
2. In Events View, change the number of the warps and select "Change events".
3. Click on an event and change the "View Range". Put a number for the number of the tiles they can walk to you when they see you.

@slog, you need to get a table file for your rom, scizz has all the table files in this (http://pkmncommunity.com/showthread.php?t=46315) thread, just scroll down a bit, then use your hex editors toolbar until you find the option "load table" or something along those lines, and voila! your hex editor shows words!
@zi212 When you insert your new map (which i assume you're talking about) click on create new map bank, this way you can have a bank specifically for your own maps, then the map number should depend on the amount of maps in that bank, so if it's your first map in bank 34 it will be 34.0, usually the maps you insert go straight to the first set of maps in the first header, so you should find it there

@ zi212 Well once you have inserted the map(s) you want to link, find the map. bank number for one of them (starter town) and on the other map (route 102) click on tool then go to connections editor, enter which direction you want the map to connect to your other map, and type in the map and ban numbers. Now do the same for the other map so the two are conected

Because you need to make a pokemon Trainer script, which you will insert the offset of that script, where it says "script" on the program you are using. Research some more about Scripting, and other tools.
Ticking the "Trainer" only tells AdvanceMap to pretty much give that person a ! thing.
I suggest going into the Scripting Area, and requesting a Trainer Battle script, but remember to tell them, the pokemon you want, and the text they'll say.

Just because it loads, doesn't mean it isn't corrupted. Eithier way, their is no way anyone can help you here, unless you know what you performed on the ROM before this White Screen glitched occured.

1. I think SMEA can change that. Don't trust me on that though, because I'm not extremely sure, since I've never used it myself.
1b+2. These both require script changes. You'll have to use ScriptED, and actually edit the "applymovement" data for each of those sprites. For further help, I suggest going to the script thread.

Download it from a different site. Uninstall, then re-install Advance map.

The real way to fix this is by going to Options > Emulator and then you put Flash 128K on instead of the current Flash 64K.

If it didn't respawn, wait for a little while. It depend on your memory and CPU. They may be low. On yours, it may have to much memory. you may check the task manager. Also, look at the processes.

Prof oak intro would require Advance text.
Guy player (battle + overworld) would require UnLZ.gba and Overworldeditor.
If you want to import sprites, you'll need the french OWE from WAH.

I finally got my FireRed rom working with advance map and mapped out my first map.
but here are my questions...
1. what are offset scripts (script offsets)and what do they affect?

Flight Position is exactly what it says.
You know when you get the HM Fly, you can choose any city?
The flight position is the position on the map you will appear when you choose that city.
Most maps, have it in front of their Poke Centers, since it's a custom of the Pokemon.

The tiles aren't in the right palette. Change the tiles' colors to the palette's ones or change the tileset's palette.

Hey everyone!
Anyway heres the problem: I was using unLZ-GBA to try and import diamond and pearl sprites to pokemon leaf green, what i did was i searched for and saved bulbasaur onto my computer then i opened it up in paint. What i did then was i got a turtwig sprite that i downloaded off serebii.net copied it then deleted bulbasaurs image and pasted it where bulbasaur used to be. After this i noticed it had changed colour but i went a ahead and opened the new sprite up in unLZ-GBA and it was still a different colour, i then followed what this site said and ticked one of the boxes which hopefully changes its colour but when i opened up and played the game turtwig was all discolored and had a square around it.
Can anybody help me?

Since you want Turtwig's original colors, you have to get a Turtwig sprite, index it (IrfanView) and import it over Bulbasaur with "Export palette". In the game tthe sprite should be okay. The image with the sprite has to be 64x64.

the warps are correctly on the doors
but whenever i go to one of the doors, i end up in the middle of the other room's map

@hyunbin 1. In the profeesor's lab, find the warp you are using to link to the dock and make a note of the event number. Then load up your dock map and where the warp to the lab is, change the warp number to the event number for the professor's lab. Then do the same in reverse, make note of the dock's warp event number and then change the warp number in the lab to that of the event number of the linking warp 0.o (if this makes sense....)

1. Offset scripts are where the offset of the script is placed, you can find empty offsets in hex.
1a. Check to see if your border block is correct, if it isn't your border block just download another FR rom.
1b. That would depend on the warp you have done, make sure it goes into the right place, on the list of the names of the maps, most maps have 0."other no.", 0 = Map Bank and "other no." = Map.

Either your rom is corrupt or there is no sprite shwing, check in Unlz.gba and see if there sprites aren't just blank, if not that your rom is corrupt.

What version are you hacking the Title Screen for?

Try using SSC: Download (http://www.4shared.com/file/9794665/3ba90d1/SCC.html), find a blank offset in hex and put the offset after the org#, then place the script in a script editor and compile it to the rom. With ScriptEd, the rom has to be in the same location as ScriptEd.

I think you mean you don´t know how to use the "shiny" Pokemon (I also think you work with PokePic^^)
You just have to tick "shiny" on the right of the window, to export it, to un-tick (!?) "shiny" and to import the right one.

apart from that, you'd also need to edit the wild grass' movement when you walk through it separately (but i don't know how to do that part)

The easiest way is with unLZ to change the pokémon sprites.

Well the Venasaur Picture can be found at 2011 in Unlz.gba in 16 colour mode and the text and the "Pokemon" on the titlescreen can be found in 256 colour mode at 2009 in Unlz.gba.

The unLZ number for the bike in the intro of ruby is numbers 189-191, to get 189 and 190 correct, press the minus sign twice. If you mean the overworld sprite for the bike, that's a different matter....

To load tilesets go to Block Editor and load the tileset. It has to be in dib format.
But you can't load a map for a tileset.

Try Advance Map, go the the wild pokémon view in the map you want and change the wild pokémon data.

Its pretty straight forward. You open Advance Map, select your map lets say Route 1. Now once loaded go into the Wild Pokemon view tab. Once there you can see that there are already wild Pokemon there which should be Pidgey's and Rattatta's. They have a level which you can modify and also you can chose another Pokemon in place of the existing one by clicking on the drop down menu next to the Pokemon's name. Lets assume Pidgey you want to change to Mew. You choose Mew from the dropdown menu and then you select its level. There should be a confirmation button at the bottom of the page (i forgot if it says ok or something else). There you are done!

Thanks, but can I somehow change how rare these Pokémon appear. (I don´t know if this was correct english, but I think you know what I mean ; ) )

2).Can anyone donate a list of Pointers for Fanfare and Playsound?
3).Does anyone know a command for a script that gives you a item, once a day for Ruby?
4).How do you enable the NationalDex for Ruby, using scripts?
5).How do you make a trainer battle for Ruby?
I tried something like:

But after I compile it, when I look at it at Scripted the script showed all sorts of commands, like: checkitem, #raw, etc.I really need help on this.

BlackDragonite, to make rare pokemon appear less offen, only put it in one of the pokemon slots then change the frequency to low (i think) now try it.

To edit music in Pokemon Ruby you will be needing Sappy.
How exactly to edit music USING it i would not know.

I downloaded the latest version of Sappy then it says 'run-time error' when I open the rom!!

Your proabley best finding where the the music is and edit it manually in ahex editor.

ok you know how you have to see the pokemon to trade/get it online...so what if i see the pokemon in a online battle then can i trade/get it online????

Since nobody answer, I'll answer you...But I'm not good at all.
1.You can make the event dissapear when you setflag at the end of the event, insert the flag value at the box of People ID in advance map...
2.Sorry, no idea.
3.giveitem is for giving item, but once a day... I hv no idea.
4. No idea.

To change the world map in the game, you'll need Cyclone and unLZ gba. Cyclone has a tutorial for what to do after you get them.

The Ruby ROM and the rbc file must be in Elite Map folder and have no spaces in the name.
