Good day to you all...
I have some questions I need to be answered...
-----------------------1-----------------------
In the beginning, everything is A-Okay, but as the PLAYER progresses through the game, the names of the maps won't show up anymore... What is the case of why when the PLAYER moves into a new map location, the map's name won't appear anymore?
Yes, I enabled the Show Map Name...
-----------------------2-----------------------
What are the ways to reset a map in the game?
Warping to a map resets the map, and as well as entering-exit-reenter the map will reset the map...
Are there other ways to reset the map in the game?
Thankies~

1. You most likely set a flag to disable it. I don't know how you would go about fixing it, though. :S
2. FadeScreen can do that, right?

That happens a lot. Go to the Header of the map, and increase the size of it(Width, and Height). When you do that, go to the Events tab, and scroll to see if there's any event in the black spot(where you increase), and move them back into the mapped part. Then decrease the size of the map back to how it where.

I don't think fadescreen resets the map. Special 0x8E does.

I dunno if this belongs here.. but i downloaded the alphahack liquid ocean and the rom firered and the VBA Emulator. As i want to start the game the screen of Liquid Ocean appears but then after "Press Start" appears following msg/error is shown: "The 1M(or lM) sub-circuit board is not installed"
How do I fix that? Can I fix that?

Simple Question:
Can you insert the same tileset into Firered AND into Ruby? Like is there any difference in the process or graphics or something?
@Tom. The 1m sub-circuit board is not installed is an error that happens in ALL firered roms. It doesn't allow you to save normally. SO, if you want to save this is what you do in VBA: Options --> Emulator ---> Save Type ---> Flash 128k.
Now after you do that, if you want to save just go to File ---> Save Game. Then choose what slot you want to save it on. When you want to load it, you go to File ---> Load Game, and choose the slot you want to load. Next time try reading the FAQ, I think it has it in there.

quick question: how do u apply an ips patch to a gba file or hack file?
can someone show me please?

November 30th, 2008, 07:53 PM
Here's a question
I tried both ways of applying ips patches to my .gba firered file and I can open them fine. But in the 3 hacks I tried, one gave me a missing BIOS file error and a brown screen, the second went past the GAMEFREAK animation and then started making weird beeping noises, and the third went past the GAMEFREAK animation and just went into a black screen.
So is it the way I'm patching (Using Lunar IPS and also tried renaming the .ips files) or the .ips files that are the problem?
Edit: I tried 2 more hacks, one I could start in the bedroom but everything was glitched. The next I got a garbled title screen and then a black screen. I'm using Visual Boy Adv. v1.8 beta 3

While I was in Advance map hacking Ruby , I accidentally deleted a person event when the Mom is in the house as she introduces it to the player ,and now at the beginning of the game there's no overworld. How do I fix this?I would suggest just using another Ruby ROM, but if you absolutely need the exact ROM, then just extract another Ruby ROM and copy the player's mother's offset, and paste it onto your edited ROM.
If you want to delete the introduction completely, then delete all of the events.

I have a question: Does EliteMap work with FireRed? At the moment when I try to load the ROM, it says "This is not a supported Pokémon Advance rom. BPRE." Do I have to do something to make it work? If not, can you send me a link to an editor that does? Thanks. If you PM the answer to me or write it on my profile, that would be great.
EDIT: Never mind, I just got Advance Map to work.
EDIT #2: And it just stopped working again. The error message is "Access violation at address 004CBD0B in module 'AdvanceMap.exe'. Read of address 31293129." Any help?

I have no idea (absolutely none) about how to hack. I want to know how to get a game, change text around and make characters appear where they shouldn't. I want to feel the pride of making (hacking really) a game. This may or may not be the right place for a hacking tutorial, but in the case that it isn't could someone show me the way?
Thanks for your help (I say thanks in advance because I know there are nice people out there that will help me.)

Use another Ruby ROM. :\
If you had made major changes in mapping, then just export that map and import it to your new Ruby ROM...

Hacking a POKéMON ROM to make a new feel to the game needs time. If you don't have time, then you will find difficulty in hacking.
Mapping, scripting, hex editing, etc needs time to do a hack.
Anyways, for tutorials, look at the Documents and Tutorials section.
For tools, search around the Toolbox section...
Good luck~

What OS are you using? Because old Windows ones aren't supported.

Well, it all depends on the meaning of "word choices".

XSE doesn't have Artificial Intelligence. Yet. Therefore it can't decide if a script will work fine or not, just by "looking" at it.
Instead, it will report all syntax errors found. Try using the wildbattle construct instead.

Well, it all depends on the meaning of "word choices".
He means.... Umm, here is an example. You remember in Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald Version, that kid that would ask you what the trendy thing is, and you would have to select your answer depending on what 2 words you chose, or how when you spoke to an interview person, you had to pick a few words for them to put on the TV...
And now, Redeemed, you need a program called A-Text to help you.
Or you could hex edit.
Hope I helped! :t157:

Well, you must remember, the words in the word choice box are also used ib the game in several areas... I suggest trying to pick a word rarley used by the game, and change it, then it will work. (I know, because I have done it)
You just have to try changing all of the uses of the word, and find out which is which...
Example, change !! every time A-text finds it. (Just add all of them to the .ini file
Then simply change them all into different things, like ?! .? :: ": you know, and then see if it changed it, that is how I did it.
EDIT:
Can someone tell me an example of a table in Pokemon Fire red. And if there is one, can someone help me figure out how to edit it?

you can find them through A-Text. I have done that editing choices in Reign of Legends.
Do remember that A-Text is case-sensitive.
Also, you have to 'Resume' the search for you to find what you are looking to edit and remember to check the checkbox of the 'Go to beginning of text'.
http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa154/destinedjagold/hihi.png
Also, through A-Map, I am not sure if you can edit it through A-Map, but double click that person and (if you put XSE as A-Map's default script editor) XSE will pop-up with the person's script.
You can then edit it.

I made some changes to the maps in an Emerald ROM using Advance Map 1.92, and I tried it out on VBA. It didn't have any major errors, but when I walked into an area which used to be a tree, it wouldn't let me pass. How do I fix this?

December 3rd, 2008, 08:47 AM
Go to the "Movement Permissions" tab in AM and change the Movement Permission.
C is for passable
1 is for impassable
4 is for water
0 is to switch between levels of land
10 is higher land (can't pass between 10 and C unless using 0.
3C is a bridge. The two levels around the brigde must be different.
Oh, there are higher levels of land too, but I won't mention them.

I'm trying to use PET to edit trainers. Through painstaking research (looking for nearly an hour and finding only 3 tutorials, 2 of which said the same thing), I still have no idea what I'm supposed to be doing in conjunction with RS Ball, which I assume is required since PET comes up with
"run-time error 76 path not found: pics/pkmn..."
I would have tried to figure it out myself, but I can't use RS Ball; I get an error. I downloaded Elite Map and RS Ball came with it, but when I tried to open it, I got
"run-time error 380 Invalid Property Value"
I'm running Windows Vista. I just need to edit which trainers have what pokemon. Can I do something to run these programs or is there another program to edit what I need to? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

If you're interested, the fact you're running Vista doesn't matter. PET and RS Ball are buggy and you need to live with that.
My advice is to wait for A-Trainer. In the meanwhile you may want to try latest PET, available in the Toolbox.

If you decompile a script, you'll see how it should look. Don't forget the XSE tutorials in the Documents and Tutorials section for basic info.

So I was thinking that I should get Pokescript, buggy as I hear it is....it seems like it would be the best thing to start with. Only I have a small problem....I CANT FIND IT! I can find simple script editors, but only for D/P...and thats no good when your trying to hack FireRed. So all I ask for is a site where I can find it, or even a link to it here on PokeCommunity if its on this site

1. There's a program called Shiny Hack Maker in the Toolbox. I guess that's what you're looking for.
2. Well, no need to be scared. You just need to get used to scripting. If XSE is difficult for you, it simply means you need to learn scripting more. No script editor will do much good if you don't have any idea about what are you doing. My suggestion is to stick with XSE indeed. Try messing around with it. Don't forget to decompile some in-game scripts, to study them and to try create new ones. There are some basic tutorials around here. Take a look at them. Just try yourself. If you still have problems, feel free to ask in the proper section - aka Script Help Thread. Which isn't a Script Request thread indeed. Fixing your script by yourself won't be as gratificating, though.

i know that similar questions have been asked before, but none of the answers posted have been very helpful, so I'll ask it again.
I want to change the surf sprite in pokemon leaf green. Mainly, I want to change the thing the player is riding on. How do I find it? It acts like an overworld sprite in the game (I think) but it is not with all the rest of the overworld sprites. I'm using tile molester and a few other programs. Please explain in great detail, I'm slow sometimes. For example, is the offset you will undoubtedly give me a hex or a decimal value?

You cant edit fire red with dexter... but the things that dexter does edit, is editable with YAPE.
(Except the foot print... I have forgotten if dexter edits the foot print as well, been so long since I have looked at that old device...)
Try looking around for YAPE in the Toolbox...

It says in step 9 that I have to search up the "bytes". Are the bytes the paired up numbers? If so, where do I search them in my hex editor?? This wasn't explained clear enough. =/

I'm trying to create a ruined city in my Pokemon Fire Red hack. Unfortunately, the ROM doesn't have any tiles that look like they're ruin material. So I figured that I could use a block editor to get the same effect. I know that Advance Map includes a block editor, but I can't seem to get it right. Every time I try to increase the number of tiles in a given set, the program wigs out on me. Like this:

Thus the first 6 values are... CF CC AA AA CC AC
So, search for them in your Hex Editor.
Also, in that picture I circled 7 values, because I can't count. Anyway...

It could be your Firmware. The emulator might not be capable of running it. I had the same problem when I had a PSP.
Also, if you are using a slim or phat, it could change your emulation results.
I used a Phat 3.90 M33-3 Firmware with 1.50 Kernel mode.
If you use a Phat, try Downgrading, and switching between 1.50 Kernel modes.
As Ninja Caterpie Below me says, teh computer is the best way to go... unless your PC is like mine... too slow... lol

no.. its a response to the reply to my question.
edit:
Here's a question - Is there a Fire Red tool that allows you to edit the moves and what they do in-game as well as what pokemon appear where and what sprites they have? Or for that matter, one to alter the trainers sprite, what is said in conversations, or what moves pokemon in inventory or in the wild know / come with?
I'm looking for a tool or several tools that do all that for gba fire red, in a tard-proof program (cause when it comes to hex and all that I'm like Ray Charles in the Louve - I don't have an effing clue.) similar to Hackmew's A-starter.
(I tried using hackmew's other tools .. but they did nothing for me. Maybe if I could get thethethethe's item editor to work for FR/LG..)
And, preferably one that dosen't involve patching the ROM afterwards.. being as I can't do that for some reason.
Links?

First of all, to play any hacked ROM, made by someone else, you need a patcher, it isn't hard, just get LunarIPS.
And it is probably your PSP... Slim's are a bit odd, you are pretty much confined to a PC when it comes to ROM gaming, sorry.
About your other questions... I'll give you a link to a box of all of the items. Like an EXE file that puts all of the tools you need onto the desktop! (If that is where you put the installer...)
First off, you need A-map, it allows you to edit Where pokemon Show up in the Pokemon World. (IE, Grass, Water, Caves...)
2nd, you need YAPE, it is probably the best Pokemon Editor in the world.
It will allow you to edit what the attacks of each pokemon are, and Much more extras.
3rd, you need IconED, to edit Pokemon icons (The things you see in the Pokemon Menu.)
4th, you need XSE, the Best script editor ever created, and is still getting better. This will let you make scripts, and make your own conversations.
5th, you need A-text, if you can get it to work, it will allow you to edit the text tha is already in the game, just hit the search button in the program to find the text you want to edit!.
6th, you need unLZgba, a more difficult program if you dont know what you are doing... but If done correctly, you can use it to change the trainers pictures (Sprites) that you see in battle, as well as the pokemon's pictures, and much more, like the title screen, and textbox decorations!
7th, you need Overworld-RE, this is a program that lets you edit the Charachters on the map. (Your person, other trainers...) (I also have a question about this at the bottom of the post!)
8th, you want to have Trainer Edit, or PET (I'll include both for good measure.)
But I suggest waiting for A-Trainer, a trainer editor being made by the creator of XSE, HackMew.
9th... lets throw ShinyHackMaker v.2 in there for good luck, this allows you to make a shiny pokemon appear in a battle, egg, battle by a trainer, or given by person!
Ok... here is the pack...
(All of the programs in this Pack are Copyrighted by there owners, and I take no credit for them being made, I just packed them up...)
(I put it in 2 parts since the ZIP would be to large...)

Okay, when I load up my ROM, I'm in my house. All fine and dandy. Then, when I exit my house into the edited town, an error pops up and the screen goes black. The error says:
Unsupported ARM mode 14
If I press OK it just pops up again, saying the same thing. Please help me!

I literally just made a forest. A big forest with one script, two warps and five people. One man, three cut-trees and the man's ABRA. The script basically makes you receive some items and a Houndour when you step on it, and before, it did work. The man, his ABRA and the cut-trees all work fine, and the grass that would have wild Pokémon was fine. But now it isn't working. I edited Pallet Town's slot, though I resized it, changed a tileset, change the border block's width, so it sin't vaguely like Pallet Town. I've edited the music for it, making it Viridian Forest's music, changed the Type: to Route, and everything should be fine. But the error still pops up.
Edit: Oh, and I can't close VBA after that, so I have to reboot my computer. >=(

To answer your initial question, yes I'm using a slim... but I don't have any problems using any stock, bone-dry roms.. or even fire-red after I change the starters.
To answer your Lunar IPS statement...
well, the problem is.. I tried using LIPS, and I tried using WinIPS, using the correct ROM, and all I get is a white screen. It's kinda like "bricking" your rom. (pardon my language).

3. PET - I open either ROM and the program seems not to realize that there is a ROM loaded. I try to click the arrows at the top and get a "runtime error '6' Overflow"

Did you actually check the ROM version of the ROMs you're trying to hack?
If you don't know how to find that out, simply use RHEA. You can get it from my Tools Factory.
You should be aware that err... most lazy programmers don't care about anything but US English ROMs, version 1.0. So if you have a different dump, the offsets are going to be different, hence some tools may not work properly.

To change the text at the beginning, you need Advance Text (http://rapidshare.com/files/171666155/a-Text_311.zip.html).
^(My Advance Text)
The opening like, the title screen you mean? If so, go to Thethethethe's Title screen tutorial (http://www.pokecommunity.com/showthread.php?t=159578).
If you want to script, download XSE from this source; XSE (http://www.andreasartori.net/hackmew/downloads.php?dir=&file=XSE.zip)
Also, go to the Documents, and Tutorials Section (http://www.pokecommunity.com/forumdisplay.php?f=58), to find scripting tutorials on XSE.
Hex editing is used in changing almost any aspect in the ROM. So, you could look around, and find some Hex tutorials.

If it's hex I'm stuck with, would you send a tutorial for hexnoobs this way? :>

Okay, I've searched and found nothing, so....
I have a problem, upon entering towns and
routes, the Name doesn't show in the upper left corner.
I have tried "show name", Show Village Names" and "Show city names",
but neither have worked.
Why does the name not show?
//44tim44
Which ROM are you using? Try making a new game and see if the name appears. I've had the same problem with Emerald, if I entered the first route the names wouldn't appear, I didn't look to see what was causing it though. There may be a map that makes the names not appear.

That sometimes happens to me too! Here's what you do:
1.YOu have to make a new map...Sorry:D
2.DON'T resize it at the start-First delete ALL the scripts within the map(person, Sign...)
3.Then Resize it, and you are free to map!

To move away just use an applymovement:
applymovement 0x[personNumber] [pointerToMovementData]
waitmovement 0
To make then disappear use the command hidesprite (XSE) or #raw 53:
hidesprite 0x[personNumber]
#raw 0x53
#raw 0x[personNumber]
#raw 0x0
You need to change the person ID of that person so it corresponds with a flag that you have set in that script. This is so that person stays hidden.

Palette 7 to palette 12 is used by the secondary tileset. Palette 1 to palette 6 is used by the primary tileset. So you can reused palette 7 for every secondary tileset. In short; yes.

As destinedjagold clearly shows, A-Text works fine. And to edit the Pikachu, Use unLZgba, and take your time, go through each pic, you WILL see some...
(Or just type this number into the first text box.. 345 and press Goto
Then click the checkbox that says Use Black/ White, or press Next Pal to see more Pallet choices.)
Also, here is the top of Pikachu's head that is cut out of the image... 2028 You can change the pallet for Visibility problems...

First you would change the Trainer Card ones, which is just a LZ77 compressed picture.
Then you need to change the actual order, basically the Gym Leaders' script, plus the Cut Trees, etc. When it's the case of a Cut Tree, things are simple. But when you neeed the change what flag would enable Fly, or Flash then ASM is pretty much required.

I suppose I still misunderstood. I never intended to change the pokemon obedience/HM prerequisite settings for the badges. I'd keep everything the same, except convert the images of the badges to something else (say, a THUNDERBADGE to a SPECTREBADGE). Would I be able to avoid the ASM by just changing the images?
Oh, and HackMew, I have another question, specifically for you in the event that no one else knows what I mean. I have this problem in Advance Map concerning your brilliant XSE. I plug example scripts in from tutorials perfectly into the XSE Editor from inside Advance Map, and the program converts them out of that into something else (removes the #dynamic line, removes messages and lines of code, et cetera). Also, sometimes more than one person will say the same message and I've even had one NPC turn the screen dark purple and lock the game when I try to talk to him.
Because I'm a complete noob when it comes to scripting, I'm sure it's just something I'm doing wrong. Could you guide me, oh merciful HackMew, with your firm finger of justice?
Also, kickass program there. If only I could get it to obey me. I must not have the right badges.

Ok, I have a few questions that I would like answered. Thansk for your time.
1. How much space is there in a ROM? What I mean is, in tools like Advance Map, you can create and insert a new map. How many times can you do this without using up all of the 'memory'?
2. This is similar to the one above. When I choose an offset for a script(like a message from talking to a person, etc), and I make a mistake, and then re-compile the script, how much space am I using? Will I eventually use up all of the space? For example, I compile a script into a ROM,a nd then realize I made a mistake in the script. I fix the script and compile it again; but it has a differenyt offset. What does this do?
3. Is there a forum(or topic/ whatever it is called) where I can request scripts to be made for me? I am not very good at making complicated scripts, I can handle simple ones like messages, give pokemon, etc. I need a script for at the beginning of the game, when Professor Oak stops you from running into the grass, and then takes you to get a Pokemon. What I want is that a seperate guy to be standing near the grass, and stop you from going in the grass, until you have talked to Oak and gotten a Pokemon. If you wish to help me, or know someone who will, or a forum for this kind of question, let me know so I can provide more detail.
4. Is there a tool that will overwrite current Pokemon with Pokemon that I create? Like how you use a tool to change the picture, and then another to change the stats name, pokedex info, etc, all in one?
Thanks for your help and time.

1. I don't know how much space there is in a game but there is a TON, like maps don't take too much space I think and scripts barely take any space... Don't worry too much about it. If you feel like the space is too little you can extend your game to 32mb... I don't know how though.
2. Same as above.
3.I know there is a script help thread: http://www.pokecommunity.com/showthread.php?t=120081
Don't know about requests though.
4. You could use UnlZ to overwrite the pictures, and APE to edit the palettes... I know there are move editors and cry editors out there don't know their names though... Try looking through some tutorials on adding Pokes.

1 & 2. Lots. Trust me when I say you won't need to worry about that stuff. But always save you scripts and then do a batch compile on a fresh ROM to be sure you have lots of room.
3. http://www.pokecommunity.com/showthread.php?t=120081 but it's more of a help thread than a request thread. You can ask for help there and people will more than likely give you a hand.

If you just need to change THUNDERBADGE to a SPECTREBADGE and the like, then you just need to use unLZ to edit the image and then the gym dialog where the gym leader gives you the badge. It wouldn't be good to have a SPECTREBADGE while the game says you got a THUNDER one instead, isn't it?
Absolutely no ASM.
Regarding script, your guesses were totally right: you're doing something wrong indeed. In fact, there's a somehow deep difference between compiling and decompiling a script. In the first case you can use dynamic offsets, #defines and more. When decompiling, though, all those fancy things are obviously gone. When you decompile a script, you get raw data and there's no way to determine which #dynamic value you used etc., of course.
You should be aware that XSE doesn't just support static/dynamic offset and pointers, but it can go mixed mode as well. Being a beginner you should avoid static and mixed mode, and stick with dynamic. Also, it's good to remember that the #dynamic value is just a starting offset that XSE uses to search free space, so you basically need to get a good place filled with FFs (FSF will help nicely) and then you don't need to change it basically ever. Anyway, I guess you'll be happy to know in the newest XSE I've implemented a refactoring for decompiling. In short, you get dynamic scripts after decompling.
Static example:
#org 0x800000
msgbox 0x880000A
callstd 0x2
end
#org 0x80000A
= This is static.
Dynamic example:
#dynamic 0x800000
#org @start
msgbox @hello
callstd 0x2
end
#org @hello
= This is dynamic.
Mixed example:
#org 0x800000
msgbox @hello
callstd 0x2
end
#org @hello
= This is mixed.

or you can do those three with hex...
Sorry about confusing you. A-Text can edit attack names I changed the names of few attacks. I don't really want to use hex it looks really hard.

No need to script it again, for it's present in the game. Just put this offset $1BDF13 in Advance map, in the script offset of the tree.

Well, its been a while and I never got an answer, so I'll ask again. Where would I find the sprites for SURF? I think the player's overworld just reuses the sitting sprite, But I want to change the image of the thing he's riding on. What offset would I use to find this sprite in leaf green with tile molester? Is this offset hex or dec?
in addition, I have a new question to ask. When I looked through the pokemon sprites in Unlz-GBA, I saw that one view of them was shiny and the other was regular. Does this mean that shinies use the exact same image with a different pallette? or are they actually separate images? If they are merely pallette swaps, is there any way to change it so that shinies use separate images instead of alternate pallettes? I don't really fear ASM as long as there are good tutorials that explain everything I need to know.

Alright, I tried searching and couldn't find what I'm going to ask, so here goes.
I'm making a hack of Crystal, and was wondering if there's any way of making it so Kurt recognizes a GS Ball in your inventory and triggers the Celebi event if you're holding one, just like with the Gameshark code. Also, I've been messing around with Poké edit and was wondering- by making both possible hold items into the same thing, does that make a certain pokemon always hold that item? In this case, I want to have Suicune always holding a GS Ball, so I set the GS Ball data for both item slots after noticing Ho-Oh had Sacred Ash in both of its item slots. Will this actually work? I'm brand new to the whole hacking scene, so I really appreciate your help.

All you have to do is map the regions.... There is nothing "special" to it. Search some advance map tutorials. Also you can't fit all four unless you extend your game to 32mb which I duno how.... There are remakes of Gold/Silver/Crystal called Pokemon Shiny Gold and Pomemon Liquid Crystal, if you're looking for a game with more than one region.

You have to import the Block Data as well. Also Primary Tilesets in Ruby are smaller than ones in FR, I can't remember what the maximum dimensions are but you can't just import the tileset from FR if you want all the tiles from it. You'll have to rearrange things. Also you can export palettes then import them instead of doing it manually.

Two fairly simple questions, I hope:
1. In the GBA games, what determines where your player's head gets placed on the map-- is there some pointer that tells the game where you are on the route, or does it just count the number of tiles? And either way, how would I go about changing it to suit a new world map?
2. I was going to ask what makes the player sink into the sand in the desert on Route 111, but then I thought, "Oh, animations; right." If it's not an animation, though, then what is it, and how can I recreate it? Specifically, I'd like to make snow with the same effect, while still keeping the desert tiles on hand for later.
Thanks a lot. :D

Hmm, I just tried this out, and it seems I can't get it to hold a GS Ball after all. It seems to only be holdable by certain pokemon, strangely enough. To test it out, I tried three different wild pokemon having the GS Ball in both held item slots: Rattata, Geodude, and Hoppip. Out of those, only wild Rattata would always hold the GS Ball. The good news is, the GS Ball does indeed trigger the event once you have the right code in. Any ideas on what I could do to remedy this?

Probably there's some data about Pokémon/items that's causing that. I wish I was more into G/S hacking...
Anyway, what item did you edit to get the GS Ball? Did you try getting a GS Ball from a different item?

Well, I didn't do any manual editing per se, I simply used the Poke Edit program to place GS Balls in both possible item slots. Suicune wasn't holding any items by default, but then, neither are wild Rattata, and they can hold GS Balls. I'm not sure if Rattata only hold GS Balls sometimes when they have both item slots taken up by them like Suicune, I haven't tried enough. I do know that out of the three Rattata I caught with the GS Ball items in their item slots as a test, they all were holding one.
If it helps, the code for the GS Ball that I used (and keep in mind, this worked to trigger the Kurt event once I put the right code in for Kurt to recognize a GS Ball) is 73

Repoint to to free space. In UNLZ uncheck the "abort if too big" and then in the image offset plug in an offset with free space (An example would be 0x845000). Finally, check the box "automatically fix pointers".

If you can't find him it probably means he's not compressed. You'll need to use a program like TileEd 2002 or Tile Molestor to find him. Not sure about the offset though sorry. It'll be a fairly large sprite though so it shouldn't be difficult to find. Start from the bottom.

Any flags over 1000 should be fine.
What's the flag number for Prof.Birch? Because I want to have him give a Pokemon to the player after they had gotten 90 Pokemon.

when you say battle name, you mean like "TEAM AQUA GRUNT WANTS TO BATTLE", right?
Yeah, it'll change the TEAM AQUA part.

There is no text editor and map editor for Diamond and Pearl yet. But the others you've mentioned, you can find in the toolbox section or in WAH (Whack A Hack). I can't configure the best one(s) though.

thanks in advanceNo, the reason that it says that is because Advance-Text edits the .ini file, so that if you try to edit it again on a clean ROM (different from the one you edited), then it will be different text.
So, you should just continue editing your ROM, and download a new ini when you want to. :]

OK, I will restate my question because the last person that answered me didn't understand my question....
In the block editor, I want to move like 20 tiles quickly all at once, downward and fill in other blocks that I added to the bottom of the tileset. Is this possible? I know if you select a tile you can hole CTRL and RIGHT-CLICK to select all the blocks for that one tile and then manually go to the empty block/tile and insert that there. I'm asking for a way to move like 20 tiles all downward to the extra blocks I added at the end of my tilesets (If you really want to know, I'm trying to get Punk Rocker's Kyledove rombase onto Ruby). It took me like literally 2 hours of copying and pasting tile after a tile to finally get one tileset working on ruby.

Edit: Never mind ^^ I solved the problem (which was due to script errors) and rewrote the script so that it works normally. :)
I'm having a rather difficult problem in the hack I'm working on.
While beta testing, I found that I could talk to Cut trees on the overworld before I had the first badge (or, indeed, even had the HM), and I was able to cut them down using Pokemon that didn't even learn the move
44166
(and in one case, using a 'pokemon' that was just a black and white question mark).
44167
What on earth's going on here? Has anyone had a similar problem? I suppose it could be solved simply by eliminating the Cut HM from the game, but if there's another suggestion someone has, I'd be interested in hearing. Thanks for your time! :)

Why not just export the block data from Punk Rocker's patch and then import it to your ROM? Also twenty blocks isn't that much, you'll be able to do it all in a shorter amount of time than it would to figure out how to do it via hex.
Any way to prevent Pokemon revival during a match?
Pokemon revival? As in using revives? Not without ASM. You can make a script to check for any revives and then remove them though.

Map tilesets? As in the tileset for the World Map? Or do you mean just normal tilesets for a map? If so, Ruby has smaller maximum dimensions for tilesets. You'll need to rearrange some things from the exported FR tileset. Theres quite a bit of space so it is possible.

You should try doing it yourself first, then when you have problems you can ask here. Theres some tutorials in the Documents and Tutorials Forum, take a look there. Do a search if you can't find it.

It sure is. You just need to edit the script. Its done with a simple givepokemon command you just need to edit the Pokemon parameter.

In order to change the hero sprite, you need a tool called Unlz-gba. If you want a link to it, Click here: Unlz-gba! (http://www.pkmnhackersonline.com/index.php?page=download&op=getFile&title=Hacked+unLZ.GBA+%28by+HackMew%29)
If you want to change the OW of the hero, you need OWE.

I have a question. If I import a new tileset in FR or Ruby, how do I make the animations work for the doors and flowers? If I try to make a door/warp behavior byte and walk in, the door doesn't move.

I have a question. If I import a new tileset in FR or Ruby, how do I make the animations work for the doors and flowers? If I try to make a door/warp behavior byte and walk in, the door doesn't move.
To make the door usable, go to Block Editor in Advance Map. On the left side, scroll down to find the door. Click on it. You will find on the right side, a section called Behavior Byte. If it's 00 00, change it to 69 00, as in Use door/warp.
You will also see Background Byte; Make it 00 20.
For the animation of the door, not sure. :\ Sorry.
Hope that helps.

That's what everyone needs when it comes to a ROM. Pokémon hacking = HEX.
