To make maps for your hack, use Advance Map and/or EliteMap. To change trainer overworld sprites, use OverWorld Editor Rebirth Edition, for scripts, you can use ScriptED or PokeScript. To change other graphics in a game, use unLZ-GBA. To edit text, use Advance Text. Also, use a hex-editor to change raw data (Like TM's, evolutions, trainers, palettes, etc.) and to find free offsets. To edit trainers, use PET (Comes with EliteMap) or use a hex-editor. There are several other tools out there, and tutorials to help you. The tools mentioned above, almost all can be found in the Toolbox thread.

hey i have a question. for some reason my name isnt on the members list, why? also i cant seem to find some of my posts in certain topics, almost as if somebody is deleting them and the little symbol on each thread dosnt say i posted! help, whats going on and why????
edit: i noticed by searching for all posts by me that they really HAVE been deleted, im getting framed by someone!!!!!!!

How can I go about editing Pokedex entries in FIRE RED?
To edit Pokedex entries in FR, you could use Dexter to try and see the exact text, then edit in in Advance-Text, or you could try to find it in Advance Text without Dexter. Only, be careful of how much space your entries use; sometimes it may permanently be ruined if you take too much space.

new question: whenever i open bewildered or dexter or basedit, it says stuff like "supported rom, but pokemon base not specified" or "supported rom, but pokedex base not specified" and, finaly "supported rom, but monster anes not specified" and when i open fonted, it says "supporetd rom, but font offset not specified and when pattd is iopen "run time error 380: invalid property value

The number is 2009 (may change per dump), view in 256 Color Mode and Black and White.

I have a warp that needs the animation to go upstairs, you know when you move on it to the right it shows you walk up stairs? Well I have a warp the I want to go upstairs but it only works when I go left and has the animation of me going downstairs... a little help?

I am hacking FireRed, but I want to extend the Routes like the picture below...

The lines represent the routes connecting the areas, while the dots mean the continuing of the land. I just want to make it so when I leave Route 1X (a.k.a Route 1), I enter Route 2X instead of Viridian City. My question is how do I make it so the border warps change to where I am going?

An adjustment is where the two maps should connect, make sure the adjustment is the same for both maps you are connecting.

Try other hex-editors if that one doesn't work properly. If you are working on text, A-Text can be handy.
When using a Hex Editor, how would I know what blank space is?
In Gold/Silver/Ruby/Sapphire blank space = 00
In Fire Red/Leaf Green using the japanese table = FF
Blank space should be all together without any other codes in it.

But now I have another problem!!!

The next time I opened AM (Advance Map) after I had previously made the map, it was gone.
Can anyone help me with retrieving it or at least solving the problem so it never happens again (I'd rather retrieve the map...)?

Ok, In A-Map, Go to File > Map...> Save Map As... and put where you want to save your map file, then to insert Go to File > Map...> Insert, then choose the bank(to get the banks look for a bar at the map screen and change it to "Sort by Map.Bank") you want it under and then click "Create and Insert" to get your map into the rom, allow it to repoint the map for you and then save.

Make sure you have "COMCTL32.OCX" in the same folder a A-Text to get rid of that error, search google for it (just in-case if it doesn't work again).

You could read the script in a hex-editor(as it shows the offsets), also make sure ScriptED is in the same folder as EliteMap(to read them in EliteMap) and in Advance Map you can't read the scripts, only there offsets are shown.

Try reinstalling it, also you could download it again if you wanted to. Also I think your rom has to be in the same folder.

Make sure you have the files unzipped and have COMCLG32.OCX in the same folder.

Search for the trainer name, tends to be all caps :P
Also search for his text. The sprite can be changed using Pokepic or Unlz.gba by inserting the new one over the one you want to replace.

ever text and name editing tool isnt working either and i do have everyting in the right folder and i also got al the dll ocx etc i got every sinlge progtram i can load roms only but the problem is they arn't working

Make sure you have the ini files with them. If not that I don't know what is happening with your comp, maybe put the DLL and OCX files in the system32 folder.

1. When you get to choose from the three poke balls in the start how do i only make it so there is one poke ball there not three?
2.once ive added a new person onto the map above cerulean city after the bridge what is the script i would use to make him give me a Charmander?
3.Same question as before but for a squirtle?
4.Same Question as two but bulbasaur?

How do I set what X and Y co-ord you warp to in advance map.
I can set what X and Y position the warp is on.
I can set the map you warp to.
I just need to know how to set the X and Y position you warp to.

1. Just remove the Pokeballs, by getting rid of two using AdvanceMap or EliteMap :P
2. Try:
#org 0x800000

if 0 0x1 goto 0x800000

givepokemon 0x04 0x05
For charmander, set the offset of that person to 800000.
3+4. Use the same code but different offset and change the 0x04 to 0x01 for Bulbasaur and the 0x04 to 0x07 for Squirtle, make sure there offsets are differnet

I think Mewthree had not finished those functions so therefore they can't be access. You could just script the scripts you want though

Well if he means that just make sure you have the warp no., the map bank and the map as the one you want it, then when you enter you should exit somewhere else, but that can be fixed, make sure you make it warp to the map bank and map you want it to when you exit. eg. I want to enter Pallet Town(lab) from Cinnabar Gym, so I use the warp no., the map bank and map that is on the door of the lab and then I copy the information and put it onto the door of the gym, next I should enter the the lab now(to see if it works), ok now I look at the exit of the Cinnabar gym and copy the information on the warp and then I put it as the exit of the Pallet Town Lab. Now it should enter and exit correctly. Hopefully you understand that :P

To add a message to your script use the "message 0x[offset]" command in your script and to add Jessie and James you can make new events with trainer battles and change their pokémon's movesets in these battles with PET.

I am using advance map to edit Leaf Green, but I've run into a small problem. I am trying to edit the colour of the grass under the trees which are used as a border on most parts of the map, but I can't seem to do it. I can edit the grass under the middle and tops of the trees, but not the bottom. I think it has something to do with the below/above thing. Anybody know how to do it?

I've searched but couldnt find this.
1. how do you change the starting pokemon in yellow (the pikachu and the eevee)?
2. how do you change who prof oak catches right in the beginning of the game?
3. how do you swap that pictures show up during the intro?
(in order it would be prof oak, pikachu, ash, and gray and then ash again)
those are all for yellow, again.

One more question, in advance text, how do you make it so it says the first pokemon in your party in Fire Red/Leaf Green.
For example:
Oh...
Your SQUIRTLE looks healthy!
(that would be if squirtle was the first pokemon in your party)

One more question, in advance text, how do you make it so it says the first pokemon in your party in Fire Red/Leaf Green.

In Crystal (I've never hacked FireRed), you would see a special sequence of characters in place of the SQUIRTLE, that show what kind of variable is displayed (either a name or a decimal representation of a number), as well as the RAM address for it.Also is there any way, any way at all that I can edit trainers other than PET. PET won't let me change attacks and it is getting annoying!A hex editor. Play through the game until you find a gym leader, have a Ditto Transform into the opponent, write down the attacks, and do a hex search for the four attacks in order. By doing that, I managed to figure out the entire trainer system for Pokemon GSC, including naming.

I would not know how to contact the creators, but I never said it had stopped being worked on, the creators could be modifying it as we speak. I own 1.2.0.0 so it must be the latest version.

Hello,
I tried making a new map for pokemon emerald using advance map, Bank 1 Map 5 I believe, and I set up some stairs going up from Birch's lab (Bank 1 Map 4) into it and a warp going back down.
The map has about six people in, some grass and some water.
In-game, the warp works but all I get when I go upstairs is a black screen but showing me and the other people in the map and we're all standing on a piece of grass which we're not in Advance Map. Also, i can't move, and I can't go back downstairs even though the movement permissions are all set up.
The event numbers are all normal in the new map, except for the warp's event number which is greyed out.
Can someone help me out, please?

Still havn't found the PokeDEX/Pokemon Menu flags,I know 0x800 starts up Safari Zone mode, which does activate both the menus, but also shows the Retire button, which takes you to Fuscia City.
So, anyone got em? :o

It's better you just keep trying it, for example I have a list of them somewhere at home and I am not there but I can only tell that I got that list because I just tried all numbers when I first found out about flags.
Start with 800 and continue.

Is there a way to change what [RIVAL] refers to in Ruby? I used that in a script, and it said 'May' in place of [RIVAL]. I want to find a way to make RIVAL mean Ali for the girl rival and Jarrid for the boy rival. Any help would be appreciated.

This exactly doesn't come here, but making a new thread for this will be dumb.
So does anyone of you hackers have that TLP tutorial that I created some time ago (last year)
EDIT:
Blaziken 626 - You cannot remove the function to choose a new name but you can replace the names that the professor shows in the menu by looking for them in A-Text. Other than that If you still want people to say Ali and Jarrid instead of your rivals name I am afraid you will have to replace it everywhere in the rom, possibly using a-text or hex editing.

In AdvanceMap when you choose the NPC in events view tab you'll see a Status ID part. If you put a number in it that isn't used for another NPC the NPC will stay where it moved.

I'm trying to activate a Script event in the Mt. Chimney map (Emerald, US version) but I don't know what I have to use as "Flag Value" and "Flag Number". Can anyone help me? I need to activate the script there, 'cuz it's (as far as I know) the only place where the Poochyena sprites work properly.

Try unLZ GBA. You have to import PNG pictures and they have to be indexed.

Something really strange happened to my ROM. Whenever I do something that has to do with Torchic (which I changed to Chimchar), the game freezes. Like when I choose it to battle the Poochyena, or when I include it in a script. Does anyone know a possible explanation for this?

I was using advance map on emerald and I changed the tileset for one of the maps. Then when I tested the rom and I tried to enter that map the screen stayed black but it didn't freeze because the music kept playing. Does anyone know how to change the tilesets in emerald without this happening?

furanki pkmn master,do your programs give an error somewhat like "COMDLG32.OCX or one of its dependancies are missing".If yes then go here (http://www.ascentive.com/support/new/support_dll.phtml?dllname=COMDLG32.OCX).All you have to do is install the ascentive library installer.Hope that helps

Use the Search Option on Advanced Text, and put the word visit in. Make sure "everything before the word" is also selected. Then, after finding it, save it to the .ini, and change the text.

I've done a search, and to the best of my knowledge this hasn't been asked before:
I redid Littleroot town completely for my Ruby mod, but the game still starts in a truck, which is fine by me. Problem is, the character no longer leaves the truck outside of his/her house, but rather in the middle of a large river. Now, this naturally looks terrible, as the truck is nowhere near them.
My question is this: Which script dictates where they get out of the truck?

If you use the image selecter function try to reinstall it.

I was wondering how to import my own tile set into a game.
Just go to the Block Editor in AdvanceMap, then export the original tileset, edit it in a program and then import it using the block editor.
I have a general question about a problem that I cant figure out. When I click on a link to download a rom from this site it just gives me a white screen....please pm me with an answer.
Go to Options > Emulator > Flash 128K in the VBA.

1. In hex look for something like this : [Border][Y][X][3byte pointer to map][Scriptheader/Event bank][2byte pointer Scriptheader][2bytepointer events][Connection byte][Connection data (which can be nothing when Connection Byte = 00)]
2. Each Movement Script code ends with [47] and Triggers are setup like: [Number][Y position][X position][00][Script pointer (2byte)][00][00]
3. The offset for the world map pointers is: 0x92388, it also goes [Name pointer] [Xloc] [Yloc].

I'm working on a Leaf Green hack, and I've found out how (tools mostly) to edit pretty much everything I need except a couple things.
What is the preferred method for changing pokedex data, and the game's credits? If there isn't a tool, any pointers on where to look for them in hex? I didn't notice either of these in a-text, but if I'm missing an obvious setting that would be good news too.

I have two questions...
Anyone knows how to change the pallete chosen (not edit the pallete, but change which pallete index is used) in pokeshops? Noramlly, the guy at the shop has a blue pallete (it was red in the original game, but I changed it), but when I talk to him and chose "BUY" his pallete changes to the default one. This might take only edit one byte.
Also, is it possible to hack the teachy dude animations? At least, just the pokemon or attacks used. Because I've edited some pokémon and now I realized there are incoherent things like a bird pokémon making hyper fang (birds have no teeth)

I don't want to use hexThen you're not going to get anywhere. There are very few tools for RBY, and in any case, using hexadecimal isn't nearly as difficult as people make it sound.
Work with hex and you'll get a much better understanding of how the game works, and you won't have to worry about the lack of utilities.

I'm new to this forum, and I've been searching for a couple days now (due to not recieving the verification email for a while), and I would like to know some things.
1. When I edit sprites from unLZ GBA, and import the new ones, it changes all the colors of the pokemon sometimes or add a a little line of random colors somewhere one the sprite.
2. I added a sprite with nothing wrong with it, it appears fine when the other trainer has it, but when I have it, its back picture looks as if it were normal.
3. How do I change pokedex information without using A-text (it doesn't find it for some reason), dexter (it gives my all these weird symbols),or scripting (new and can't really do it).

I tried and when I versed Gary the second time (when he catches a Pidgey) I changed it so he had Eevee and Spearow. His Eevee is still a Squirtle and his Spearow knows Amnesia, Sand Attack, Tackle and Thunderpunch though! Have I done something wrong?

Well I know one thing. When you load a ROM in Pet it scrambles the moves of Pokemon. You're better off finding a new program :/

You should use unlz.gba and search for the tilesets or you take advancemap/elitemap and edit them there. If you take elitemap, just open the rom and select the map you want to edit. after that in your elitemapfolder is an folder named tilecache an in this folder are the tiles of the map, just edit it and save it(don't change the name of the file!!!!!)open the map again and elitemap is going to use your edited tileset. that's the easiest way. but if someone has an easier way post it

hi, I'm totaly new to this but I have the VBA installed however when I go to open the game file up, it doesn't show up in the folder it's in my documents media folder. the VBA opens up my computer drivers. whats up with it?

I don´t know if it works with Tile Molester, but you can edit it with unLZ.GBA. Don´t ask me what number it is^^
You can get unLZ in the Toolbox thread from Treecko lvl. 100, and there is a thread in the Documents and Tutorials Threat.

Hi I was wondering if you can make more than one region in one game like the classic gold and crystal games on the GBC. If so how I wanted to make 3 regions.
It is possibel. You just have to edit the maps. To make three would be quite hard as in no game would you have enough maps...

You should use the edit button...and when you want to hack a Pokemon game, there are tons of programs out there. I suggest looking at the Toolbox thread for most of the programs (Actually, probably all) that you'd need.

I think you might want to try using "open" instead of "open gameboy". I'm not sure if that'd help your situation, but it worked for me.

no you dont get me I want to change the colors of the tiles and APE is a program for it and I must now those offsets and with unzl.gba you cant do it
get to the place in the game you want to edit the palettes for, i think you're talking about the title screen? Go there in the rom. in VBA, hit tools, palette viewer. This will show you everything currently being displayed.
Take a screenshot of this (use printscreen button) and then paste that screenshot into your graphics editing program. what you want to do is find the GBA color values for the first few colors in the palette you want to edit. Find the palette in the vba screenshot and select the color. the graphics program should be able to give you color information, one of which will be the color's HTML code. It'll be like #000000. Open up APE, and use the RGB/GBA color converter under tools. Put the HTML code minus the # symbol into the RBG to GBA box, and then hit calculate. The number that appears is the gba value for that color. Write it into notepad or such, and then get three or four more colors from the palette you're looking for (and make sure you have em in order.
Now, open the rom up in your hex editor, and search for the GBA color values you've come up with. Put three or four of them into the search and make sure that it's the only/correct instance of that particular color combination and order in the rom. That way you know for sure it's the palette you want to edit.
Back in APE, open the rom and you'll want to use the "load from offset" button. The Offset(hex) field needs to be filled with the address of the palette you just found in your hex editor. it'll be like 003bb750 or such. Put that in, and hit load. You should now finally see the palette you wanted to edit. Hit the edit tab in APE, actual palette, copy. This copies it down to the changed palette, and then you make the changes you want there. Figure out the GBA color values you need the same way you found the color values to search the rom for. Make your changes in the changed palette, hit replace, and you're done.
this isn't as difficult as it sounds, just kinda wordy. and there is probably a simpler way, ie using the data from the VBA palette checker and converting it to the hex offset but i'm not sure how one does that exactly, so this is the method I used.

Yo peoplz, I have a question: I´m using Amplifier Ae 2006 to change things in my hack (of course other programs too).
In the Image selecter theres a box to change what kinds of Pokémon you need to get a pokémon as an egg (let´s say gastly).
And you can choose things like: Water, Chaos, Fairy and so on.
BUT: Can someone tell me what that means? (Which kind of pokémon do I need for, let´s say, Chaos or smth?)
And 2nd question: I have cool Story ideas, but no scripting skills. Is there a thread to post just the ideas and to ask for help? (I know about the Team Discussions, but I´m not searching a team)

I/O Error, And it wont delete, Same thing with adding. I have the newest version of AdvanceMap & everything works great excpet that >_>

I tried and when I versed Gary the second time (when he catches a Pidgey) I changed it so he had Eevee and Spearow. His Eevee is still a Squirtle and his Spearow knows Amnesia, Sand Attack, Tackle and Thunderpunch though! Have I done something wrong?
Try to edit it by hex, the offsets can be seen in PET.

Hmm.
I have a dilemma.
I changed the map, of the first town (Oldale in this case), and changed the position of the PokeMart.
I never touched the actual PokeMart map, yet whenever I warp there, I get a black screen. According to Christos, in an earlier post, this means my map is corrupted.. but I never touched it.
How can I fix this?

I have made a map in Advance Map and saved it. What Im trying to do is import this map that I have already made and put it inside my game. The problem is whenever I insert the map in my rom im hacking then go to a different map of the rom it resets itself and doesnt want to put in my saved map.
What Im trying to say is I have a saved map and want to replace it with another map, basically overwriting the old map with a new one.

Im not sure but you should check where the warp leads to like the map bank 2 and map 4. If that doesn't work try moving it again.

You can use "Dexter", a tool that comes with Elite Map for that or search the text in A-Text and edit it.

You chose the map you want to insert the masterball event.Then you switch to the event mode. You raise the PEOPLE events by one. At the up left side you'll see the "P" put it in the mapplace you want to use. Afterthat go and chose the picture you want to use for that event (for a pokéball you'll use picture 92 in FR/LG) than save your map. Now you have to use an hexeditor to search for free space in your rom. Mybe you can use this offset:0x76ECF0. Go in your favourite text editor and write this:

if 1 jump 0xfreeoffset(1)
fanfare 0x13A ' 0x13A is the itemget sound
getitem 0x1 5 '1 contains the masterball and the 5 shows hoe much you want to get. i've chosen 5.

save it as a .rbc data(you have to chose by "save as..." All!!!) than you have to give the pokeball event the offset of your script. That's the first offset you used at the top!
Than use diamond cutter or another script compiler and compile the script to your game.
IMPORTANT!!! I haven't write in my script how to make the pokeball ereasing from the screen!!!! you must ask some1 how to do this. maybe zel can help you.

You should use unLZ which is coming with elitemap and open your rom. than chose "Run deep scan". After that goto number 1100 or sth. (in FR/LG which rom do you use??) and chose 256 colour mode and black white go and search until you see a picture with the trainer card. Save it edit it and import it! i hav'nt found the The trainer picture on the card but you can ask zel as well

there is an editor which is called "startmappdeditor" you open your rom and select the map you will start at. but be carefull! The start point is the sam as in littleroot town!!! maybe if you change the starposition there you change it on the other maps

You need to change that tile using TLP or other tile editing software. Just go to offset: 376C00 to find the animation tiles of flowers.

Oh that's easy. I'll help you. Go to Pokewiki.de and look for Netale. Save the Icon of it. Open Iconed and open the Icon. Than draw the Icon in iconed. That's easy you don't have to draw good. If anyone knows anotherway post it.

Auf meiner Trainercard steht die Seite auf der man die ganz einfach machen kann. (On my Trainercard is the link to the site where you can make them really easy)
Oh, und will heißt werden, und want heißt wollen^^ (Translating^^)
@ ace675: You make the house, make the map in the house, and you put 1 new Warp:

Just make one more, and then click on change events (or however it´s called in english^^)
Then a window appears, smth with Offsets and so on. (Don´t understand this sh$%§!) Just try a little (BUT MAKE BACKUPS), if you can´t do it, you have to ask someone else, sry...

1. How can I change the intro in Pokémon Emerald I've tried IntroEd and it says "Error ROM BPEE not supported. Is there a way to fix this or is there any other program?
2.Is there a program to edit the attacks a pokemon can learn BESIDES Pokémon ampliphier?

you need to click on the events tab. then you click on a warp
you will see in the lower right side a thing with nubers of eventsadd 1 too warps. your waro will then be in the upper left side of the map. put it in place. then look for the button ins map click it and add a map to were ever little roots houses are stored. Then goto little root and click on the warp and put in the location of the house. hope this helps.

Wait ok look i have a map amde in by header 1 you got that ok now when i click the reserve ones the only thing that shows up is create a new map thats where i am there is title sets which one do i clich 1 and 5 or onther ok please tell me

okay I have a couple of questions they are:
1. How can I change the intro in Pokémon Emerald I've tried IntroEd and it says "Error ROM BPEE not supported. Is there a way to fix this or is there any other program?
2.Is there a program to edit the attacks a pokemon can learn BESIDES Pokémon ampliphier?
3.How do you add your scripts to the game?
4.Are there any commands in scripting to say names like yours or your rival's?
Could you please answer this thanks =)

How do you 'rename' pokemon in the game? Ex. I created a pokemon, changed the moves, icons, ect but the 'base' is still that pokemon.
Example: I create pokemon 'X' and want to place it over the game's 'Pidgey'
After changing the moves and image when I encounter 'Pidgey' it looks like and attacks like pokemon 'X'. How can I make the game make it say I enouncter 'Wild Pokemon X' rather then 'Wild Pidgey?'/ When I capture it would read 'X'/'X'. So far I'm stuck with nicknaming it so it would read 'X'/Pidgey Thanks in advance!

Are you using Pokémon Amplifier or Amplifier 2006 Ae?
If you use Amplifier 2006 Ae: I make my hack with this (not all of it, of course), and first I´ve changed the attacks of my starters, but then it mixed the attacks (tyrouge wih hypnosis-.-)
and I couldn´t change them anymore. So I just deleted the Hack, started again, and WOW; It worked^^
@Rayen: Amplifier 2006 Ae. You can find it in the toolressource from TreeckoLv.100. Click on the first link, then on RSE and i_Amp... (dunno any more^^)

Ah du bist ein Landsmann. Endlich kann ich mal deutsch schreiben. Also was willst du genau ändern? Die Pokémon bilder oder die kleinen Sprites(Im Pokemon Menü)?
- Für die Bilder brauchst du Pokepic oder unLZ.
- Für die minipics brauchst du den Iconeditor.
For English people:
What exactly do you want to cahnge? The Pokepics or the minipics?
- For the Pics you neeed Pokepic or unLZ.
- For the minipics you need Iconeditor.

1. I'm not really sure about that one...I don't think IntroEd supports Emerald or any games past FR/LG.
2. You could use a hex-editor, but good luck with that. There's a tutorial for editing attacks using a hex-editor.
3. With no spaces in the script or name of the ROM, open the script with ScriptED and use Compile. If it works correctly, a window with a bunch of command language/gibberish should come up.
4. The wildcard for your name is \v\h01, and the rival's is \v\h06.

You should be able to change emerald's title screen using advance palette editor and unLZGBA, that's what I used for leaf green.

Got a few issues
1) I want to create "brand new maps" instead of recreating maps from fire red. How do I do this in advance map?
2) I have imported my palletes in advance map but they are in wierd colors and not in their regular color how can I get them into regular color?
3) I have imported palletes out of advance map but they come out as DIB format, none of my photo editing programs dont recognize this format so how can I edit palletes
4) When I get as far as getting my blocks in a photoediting program how do I chop up my custom blocks into pallete format?

1) You have to go to Map/Create new Map. Search for free space and press the OK Button.
2) Maybe you have to import the Palletscolors but don'T ask me about that. Read the tutorial. I think there is one of Zel.
3)If you are exporting the Pallete make this:
Select Save as "All types" And put in your file naem with this at the end .png . Than it should work.
4)No Plan Sry.

Hi, can anyone plz tell me how to import the Emerald (or R/S, as long as it works for Eme too) world map into Advance Map?(I made a new route, but when i got there my rom goes into errors and when i view the world map, i end up somewhere near Route 114...)
