Whenever i try to hack my emerald, and when i test it, the screen just goes white, i don't even see the gamesfrek screen...

Ehrm...I got 2 questions...
1-I'm hacking LeafGreen (see sig :P) and I want to edit the wild Pokémon. But when I load the ROM into bewildered, it gives an error and shuts the program. So does anybody know OR how to fix this OR another program to edit the wild Pokémon in LG?
2-I also need a program that edits trainers for LG. PET doesn't work with me. It just gives the R/S/E trainers. So please, can somebody help me?

Try setting your VBA emulator: Options > Emulator > Save Type > Flash 128K

Possibly with hex...but you could overwrite sprites and make a certain number.

1. Try using AdvanceMap it has a wild Pokemon editting feature under each map, Bewildered I think only works with R/S.
2. Try using hex or you could dump the FR/LG trainers using RS Ball, just click Dump GFX Bank after opening the rom...PET can be glitchy at times though.

Hello. I'm new here and I don't know where to post my question...

When I have opened my hacked rom in Advance-Text first time I recived a message that I should create a new ini file. I chose "OK" and went to search, but I can't see which sprite is saying the message! I just can type a word and get one message containing this word! Anyone knows?

Hello im a fairly new yet experianced hacker. I am attempting to make my own game out of Emerald. But I have a problem. No matter what type of ROM I upload into Advanced Text it always says. No INI file exsists would you like to create a new one? Then I click yes and nothing is there. If I click no it aborts. I dont know if im doing it wrong or if its my ROM or I have a bad version of AT. I have downloaded the ROM and AT many times so im not sure what to do. Also Mods im sorry if this is in the wrong Forum im new to this site. Sorry.

I cannot find a way to add an item in EliteMap, all i want to do is add a pokeball with some masterballs, but i dont know how to add one. I know how to edit existing items to make it a masterball, but i want to know how you can add and item in EliteMap. Thanks a lot!!!
Hmm...If I were you I wouldn't use Elitemap to edit maps, Advance Map is much better. If I were you I would open up the script in a notepad change the item to masterball, and change the offsets. Basically copy a script, change it, and re-insert it in a new location. Then just use the Pokeball sprite.

But hey, you do things the way you want to. So as to your question I don't really know because I've never used it. Though it seems from a first glance that when you search, it gives you the first offset that contains free space. Just make a script starting with the offsets it gives you. Though I could be wrong...

Ah, this one I know personally! First switch to 256 color mode in unlz-gba, then go to around 343, that's where mine is. Yours could be different however, but it should be like 1-3 images earlier or later though. As for Birch in Emerald, I have no idea; sorry.

1. Urgh! I hate it when there are questions I know there is a solution to, but I simply don't know the answers. The only person that has successfully done this, that I have seen, is Zel. Maybe he can help you if he's not too busy with Shiny Gold.
2. Sadly, no it is not possible to change what people say using Advanced Map. The only thing you can do script wise, is view the sprites text offset.

I didn't get a word you said but I think that means that I won't actually be using PokeScript for Scripting.
lol. uhm a short way to say it? see when u right click your .rbc file and click "compile"? that's what pokescript/scripted is for. ^^ the thing between the notepad and the bufrites lol
for the guy with the emerald test going always white, i think u haven't switched the save type in the emulator options to "128k". do it, it should be that and not your hack ^^
*still waiting for smbd that tells me if and how i can add pokemons without erasing old ones (there are 15-30 slots available between celebi and treecko)*

Hi, I'm pretty new here, but I've had tons of other coding experiences. I'm trying to get the Script offset of a script, but what I think was it, I don't think it was. I followed the tutorial on using Pokescript on it's home (I think) to get as far as I did. The offset I took was - Putting [I ] at 1B89C0 (The letters/numbers in bold) and it didn't work. Okay so what i am trying to do right now is add a cave into a ruby game. I have no clue how to create a warp and have it take me to the cave i just created. I have advance map. Can someone help me, thanks you!!I'm looking for the same thing, and how do I add the area i want it to warp to? Like the new cave to edit? I tried creating a new map but it just saved over my victory road map -.- I didn't want to restart so basically when my hack is released, it may be no different but I created victory road on there xD well at least the main cave

You should be able to find some free maps under map bank 25, the free maps should be from 25.29-25.33 or so.

It's simple really, say your going through the hex editor and your find a bunch of "FF" starting at 900000. Now when you make a script, start it with 0x900000. This will tell the game to place your new script into that area of free space.

Wow! That's way too much to insert into the game, as the GBA series is not ment to hold that much data. Sorry, but only like 2-3 extra pokemon can be added to Ruby/Sapphire; and even then you may run across problems. If you want the shinou pokemon, your going to have to erase some old pokemon.

Alright, to make a warp, if it does not already exist on the map, do the following. First, go to "events view" and scroll down on the right, until it says "Event manager". Look at the list now. Find where it says "Amount of Warps" and change it to the number of warps you will need. Don't worry you can always change it later. Now do you see the button on the bottom that says change events? Click it. A window will pop up that reads "Events" click ok, and it will find available space to put your new event. Click the button that says "re-point" and your done making a warp. It should appear in the top left-hand corner. As for changing it all you have to do is click it. So lets say you wanted to warp to inside of Mt. Moon. You would look at the numbers beside Mt. Moon on the list, which happen to be 1.1. The first number represents the "map bank", while the other represents the "map". So change your warps "Map bank" to 1 and your warp's "map" to 1. Now we need to find which specific warp will your warp go to. The entrance number is "event number 3" so change your warp's "warp no:" to 3. Congratulations your warp now takes you to the Mt. Moon entrance. Hope that helps, if you need me to explain further send me a PM.

I've looked around the whole forum, used the search engine and I still can't find anything on this. How do you change a Pokemon's base stat or certain moves it learns at different levels? The base stats might be as simple as changing hex codes in an editor, but I've yet to find out. If somebody knows how to do either of these, help would be greatly appreciated.

Alright, it's simple really. Well, some of it's not...
Anyway let's take the tutorial script that comes with SciptED shall we?

This code will make someone say "Hello World!" Easy right? Well allow me break it down.
First- 0x800000:
This is where the script will be kept. This is it's location within the game. Here is where you type in the offset where all that blank space starts (FF's).
Second- message 0x800100:
This is where the message for your script will be kept. This tells the game where to put it.
Third-boxset 0x2:
These are the options after the message has been displayed. This one states that after the message is shown, you must press "a" to exit.
Fourth-end:
This ends the script.
Fifth-
#org 0x800100
= Hello World!
This is what your person will say when you give him this script. This IS your message. If you wanted a person to say "I want a cookie" replace "Hello World" with "I want a cookie". This is the simplist script you can make. All it does is have someone talk.
So put it all together now:

boxset 0x2-press "a" to exit message
end-end script

= Hello World! ^

I think I should stop. I've been going this for ages now and I always get a little glitch over the player's head in battle. I also get when I walk out of a town and go back in the buildings are messed up. The lab is stuffed just because I changed the position of one person and changed what they said. Why is this all happening? I am going mad.

in LF now, i've redesigned Pallet town, instead of exiting from the top you have to go right, everythings fine except the professor oak part. he still runs to the spot where you would normally go and i still follow the same direction. I know it's scripting and i know how to fix it but, when i [ctrl+click] in elitemap, it doesn't show his script, is there any way for me to edit it??????

You can't see which sprite is saying the text, you could just play the game, talk to people, search for the text and edit it. Then you'll know who says the text you want.

There's not an ini for Emerald in Advance Text, just create a new one and while playing the game and talking to people, search for the text you want and edit it with Advance Text.

Hello, I'm new to hacking so I have a few questions.
I'm working on a pokemon ruby hack.
I replaced squirtle sprites with piplup sprites, but when i used it as a starter the pokemon
sprite looks all glitchy. Can you help me?
I also need help editing piplup's pokedex info.
And how do you change the title screen in ruby?
Can anyone help me answer these questions?

Would anyone by any chance happen to know the value for Oak's Parcel in FR/LG? I've finally learned how to script properly and I've started, but I'm stuck until I know the value for Oak's Parcel. I'd be extremely grateful if anyone could help me.
I'm working on a pokemon ruby hack.
I replaced squirtle sprites with piplup sprites, but when i used it as a starter the pokemon
sprite looks all glitchy. Can you help me?
The sprite itself (not the picture) is too big. The only solution I know to this problem is making the Piplup sprite smaller.
I also need help editing piplup's pokedex info.
I believe Scizz has made a tool for that. I don't remember its name and neither do I know how well it works, though.
And how do you change the title screen in ruby?
You can change the graphics with Unlz.Gba and the palettes can be edited with a hex editor.
*edit* Actually, a list of all FR/LG key items and their values would be nice.

2. Go to "Sprache"
3. Select English.
4. Wait until it changed.

Amplifier 2006 is written by german people. And up to now you can't change the language. But If you need help with it I'm german and so i understand it. I also have Amplifier 2006. If you want an englisch one use Ampliefier 2004

With PET (comes with Elitemap) or a hex editor. The move list is messed up in PET so I use a combination of PET and a hex editor when I need to change the gym leaders' Pokémon's movesets. I just look up the offset of the trainer in PET, search for that offset in the hex editor and change the Pokémon.

Yeah. The moves in PET are wrong. But If you want to have a trainer this move. You select the move you want and go one after that move. They had forgotten the move 0000000 which is the non move offset. So Pound is the non Move offset.

Hello im a fairly new yet experianced hacker. I am attempting to make my own game out of Emerald. But I have a problem. No matter what type of ROM I upload into Advanced Text it always says. No INI file exsists would you like to create a new one? Then I click yes and nothing is there. If I click no it aborts. I dont know if im doing it wrong or if its my ROM or I have a bad version of AT. I have downloaded the ROM and AT many times so im not sure what to do. Also Mods im sorry if this is in the wrong Forum im new to this site. Sorry.
Can someone please answer this?

From what I did. I used RSBall and opened a FR/LG rom. And made it extract all of the trainer pics. (By clicking Dump GFX Bank)

There's not an ini for Emerald in Advance Text, just create a new one and while playing the game and talking to people, search for the text you want and edit it with Advance Text.

Yeah, PET was designed before FR/LG were released. Since the games are very similiar in programing certain things, such as Pokemon still appear. However, if you want to change the trainer sprites and stuff, you'll have to dump the GFX for them first.

Wow, Sorry I can't help you with this question. I never used cyclone. Though, from a first glance it seems you are missing a file, but as for what file... I could be wrong, however.

First- 0x800000:
This is where the script will be kept. This is it's location within the game. Here is where you type in the offset where all that blank space starts (FF's).

This is where the message for your script will be kept. This tells the game where to put it.
Third-boxset 0x2:
These are the options after the message has been displayed. This one states that after the message is shown, you must press "a" to exit.
Fourth-end:
This ends the script.
Fifth-

= Hello World!
This is what your person will say when you give him this script. This IS your message. If you wanted a person to say "I want a cookie" replace "Hello World" with "I want a cookie". This is the simplist script you can make. All it does is have someone talk.
So put it all together now:

On youtube there's a vid by foullump. It's called: Mastering Advance Map: Creating New Maps.
In the vid all the steps of creating and saving a map are explained. I hope this helps you.

I have a quick question, I read the scripting tutorials, and got most of it down, and made a quick, give pokemon script in wordpad, then copied it on to scriptED, and hit save, I saved it as "RECEIVE EGGON", but anyways, how do I put that script into the game? I'm trying to make it so you actually have 2 pokemon in the beginning for a double battle angainst the main "thugs" in the game, who tend to gang up on weak trainers, which is why you need two pokemon.

For starters, I don't know if you can even use emeral with those programs, but I think you can, I was having trouble with it also, but make sure you using a US version rom, not a european or japanese rom, hope this helped.

The only option is to use a different program, such as Pokemon Amplifier 2006, the database is pokeroms.ini, but there aren't any emerald offsets for those programs.

Use AdvanceMap to edit the wild Pokemon and for BaseEdit add Emerald offsets in the PokeRoms.ini.

Ok, so I'm having some issues with the movement permissions. I leave the top row of tiles on my buildings (so the character can walk behind it), but he just walks on top of it instead. I've looked at some other maps (like unedited in-game ones), and its looks like I'm doing everything right.
Can anyone shed some light on this?

Let me see if I understand. You want to insert pokemon that are bigger than the originals? Sorry, can't be done. Let's take Diamond and Pearl sprites for instance. We cannot insert the bigger sprites into the R/S/FR/LG/E series because they are too large. To do this would take massive amounts of over-hauling the game, which little to no can do. I definetly cannot. Just try making different size pokemon, ok? ;)

If at all possible, do this with Advanced Map. It's much easier to insert events. Also, Elitemap likes to make a mess of inserted events, it's not worth it in the end.

That's because after you save your script, you need to compile it. Once your script is created, saved, and tweaked to the way you want it, press compile. A menu will appear, select your rom file. Another message will then appear, select yes, and congratulations your script is now in the game!

Sorry, but support for Emerald with these programs is non-existant at the moment. Ini files are currently being made, but they are not quite ready yet. To hacking other things, until this problem is resolved, ok? ;)

What roof tiles are you using? Some are not made with this permission in mind; You may have to change the tile.

I have already done an search using the tool for this question which is as follows, Is it possible to add new pokemon into Fire Red due to the fact of there being free offsets in the game and if so how can I do this, I have knowlage on how to replace pokemon however I want to add new pokemon and trainers in with out replacing any. Yes, I think you're missing some files. Below you can find a complete list of the Cyclone's needed files:
COMDLG32.OCX

Anyway I guess that the error is caused by the FM20.DLL which should be absent or not correctly registered in your computer.

Basically what i want is the number location of the tilemap in unLZ GBA for Fire Red so that i can edit the town map. Somebody must know it because the map has been edited in RijonAdventures! I have the tileset and Cyclone the editor. Its a bit of a mouthful I know!

1. You cannot script with AdvanceMap. If you're getting that run-time error you're probably missing some needed files for ScriptEd.
Also, make sure that the ROM you're hacking is in the same folder where's Elite Map and that has no spaces in its name.
2. First of all, make sure that you have the latest version of the program. You can download it from my thread.
If the error still appears, please tell me step by step what did you do in order to reproduce the error and eventually fix it.

Hmm... Are you sure your using the exact same tiles as previously? Also, are you sure you have the right tiles blocked and the right tiles "walkable"?

If you mean without re-writing previous Pokemon, trainers, badges, etc; then no. But if your willing to over-write these things, programs such as: "PokePic" and a good hex editor will aid you in your quest.

Sorry, but from what I know there aren’t any free offsets for Pokemon in FR/LG. There are in Ruby/Sapphire, but not there. As for your script, the only thing I can guess without doing a total investigation (which I have to do with many of my own scripts), is that your missing the “check flag” part. Most scripts will not work, in my experience, unless you have a “check flag” option with it as well.

Sorry, but to my knowledge there are no "Telefang" hacking tools. Though I do know of one tool you'll need if your going to translate it: "Search Relative". Some Hex editors (Which you will also need) have this ability built in, others do not. Basically, your going to make a "table file". A conversion sheet of sorts that tells your hex editor what "hex bytes" equal what letters and/or symbols. Good Luck to you.

You don't. RS ball is for dumping sprites or dumping pallets for the sprites, to be edited by other programs such as "PokePic".

Ehrm...I tried to dump GFX bank with rsball, but when I do that, the program doesnt react. Is this normal? and second question: If you make a patch with unedited maps and patch it on a map-edited ROM, will the maps be still edited?

IF you use LG than it's normal. RS ball works with Ruby, Saphirre and FR. But not with Emerald or LG.

If this message appears than you have one Error. The name of your .rbc has a space like this:
Pokémon Script.rbc
If you want to make it working it should be this:
PokémonScript.rbc
Don't have a space in the name.

IF you use LG than it's normal. RS ball works with Ruby, Saphirre and FR. But not with Emerald or LG.

If this message appears than you have one Error. The name of your .rbc has a space like this:
Pokémon Script.rbc
If you want to make it working it should be this:
PokémonScript.rbc

If you have Elitemap than go into the folder.
Look out for the file "stditems.rbh". Open it with a Text Editor and scroll down. There are all indexes for the items when you make a script. (Items havn't offsets as you maybe think. The offsets they have in Advancemap is the offset of the script.) Than make a script. For getting an item it should look like this.
#org 0xfreeoffset
checkflag 0xfreeflag
giveitem 0xitemid 0xhow much
setflag 0x freeflag 'it has to be the value form above!'
release

I don't know how to erease the Pic of the event so ask somone else. Hope it'll help you.

I think you can't compile scripts with scripted. Use Pokéskript or Diamond cutter.

I have a new Island I made using Advance Map for Pokemon Fire Red, and when I open my town map it says I am on 5 Island and I would like it to be a different map and I want it to say that I am on Island 8. Is there any way I can do this. I also would like to input the Island into the Rainbow pass so I can travel to that Island 8 by ferry. Please Help me.

I just solved the problem for that person, so I'll help you too. First, name your rom image "game". DO NOT PUT ANY EXTENSIONS ON IT. Make it simply "game". Now, put your script into ScriptED and press compile. Do not select your game from the list! Instead, go to where it says, "File name:" and type in "game.gba.gba". Hit save, and it should work for you now.

I suggest Hexecute 2.10. I suggested this version because it has a "Search Relative" function. But for later, you'll need Hexecute RC7, which allows you to input a table file a lot easier. If you know of better hex editor, feel free to use it, these are only suggestion.

Actually, Yeah it does. In reality that's what ScriptED is for, to insert or "compile" scripts into the game. Besides, Diamond Cutter is basically an earlier version of ScriptED. As for why it did not work, I'm not sure...Tell me exactly what happened.

I always get a message saying "supported rom, but monsters base stats are not specified in the database." Is there anything i can do to fix it or are there and different programs that i can use that do the same thing?

Sorry, but: BaseEdit, BeWildered, Patted, and all of those other sorts of programs were designed before Emerald was released. They do not support Emerald, sadly... As for other tools, you can use a hex editor to do most of these things. I'm not very experienced at Hacking Emerald though, I mostly only use it to import tiles to other rom images.

There is only a certain amount of space in the rom. You can, however, change the amount of blocks. Just look around Advance Map, you'll find the option.

Alright, to insert a new map please do the following.
First: Open up Advance Map and load your rom... yadayada
Second: Select on any map, it doesn't matter.
Third: Go to File > Map... > insert map.
A~ window will pop up~
Fourth: Go down to the last option "Create New Spot"
Fifth: Select where your map will go. I.e. : If you want your new map to be part of the Pallet Town set (Your house, Rival's house, Oak's Lab...) then select "4" where it says "bank".
Sixth: Select "1" "amount of reserved maps".
Tada! You have now inserted a new map into the game!
Warning: I do not suggest this. It is much easier just to replace old locations. You'll understand in the long run. ;)

What causes image-rom crash?
1. By custom do you mean, inserted map? I've never had trouble before... until later, that is.
2. By "move to another place" do you mean a new map offset? Because if so, that is do-able. Just make sure the sprites are in the same ratio they were from each other on the last map. Also, make sure there are no obstacles in the way, ie. Trees.
3. Many things can cause the image-rom to crash. But most likely you have overwritten valuable data. It happens quite often, the only way to fix it when it happens... is to have a backup! Always make a backup file!

Well, for exactly what I did in ScriptED, I wrote a script to give your character a pokemon in wordpad, copied it into ScriptED, then hit save, and triedhitting "COMPILE" but I can't, the button is wierd, like the other buttons have the black lettering so you can click on it, but the letters on compile are just gray, and it's un-clickable

Oh, you probably shouldn't insert maps using Elitemap, It likes to act pretty screwy at times. :laugh:
Also, as for you "bag" inquiry, it is not possible. The script must stay together sadly, the random battle will occur afterwords... My suggestion for you is to create a new script, one that would say something like, "Look, The Prof.'s Bag! There are three Pokeballs in it!". Then proceed to the real part. "Do you want to take this Pokeball?". You know, basically make a text version of what the bag would do. It would be a tedious script to make, but it could be done.

Woah, come down! We do have lives outside of PC you know...
1. To edit the map, you'll more than likely need to use Cyclone, It's the best program for it. Just make sure you have the needed files.
2. Those are called "connections" my friend. Advance Map can edit this part of the rom. Elitemap can also, though again, I don't recommend it.
3. You know, everytime I do this It comes out horribly wrong. Sorry, I can't answer this question truthfully...

I was just curious. Is there a way to change how a map looks mid-game? Like you enter a town and it looks normal, but later in the game it gets set on fire (for example. I know I'd have to make custom tiles for that). On a smaller scale, is it at least possible to manipulate the weather? I've played through Emerald, and it seems possible.
Also, is it possible to create animated tiles? I know the water tiles are animated. Is there anyway to create, say tiles of a building on fire?

Well, Of cousre it wont work then.. Irish Witchs Tutorials qre only for her program: PokeScript. So you have to use Chritos Tutorial for ScriptED.

Indexed sprites are sprites with a set, 16-color palette. You can index sprites with any advanced image editing program such as Photoshop or Paintshop Pro or you can use Irfanview, which is free to download.

You have to use an empty offset or else it will mess up the original coding in the game, which might lead to some very unpleasant bugs.

Warps can be created using Advancemap. You just have to select the map bank and which warp number you want the warp to lead to.

For your first question, use Advance Map. And for the other question, yes. You're gonna need to remake the maps, script everything, and do everything else that's in Jhoto. To make maps, open Advance Map and start inserting new maps into folders, and when you need to, make more folders (These are for Jhoto) :S

Open Advance Map, then open your ROM. Next find your map in the Map File, first folder, then map. I recommend organizing the maps by name to they're easier to find.

The command to give a Pokémon is givepokemon. The syntax is the following:

I don't know if this would change things, but I am using a Sapphire ROM. I was using FireRed, but it got messed up, even though I had not changed anything.

I have already compiled my script( with PokeScript), and I made a mistake with some of the text. The script works, I just wrote the wrong name down. Is there a way to edit this without re-compiling the script, or can I delete the script at the old offset, and then write the fixed script to the offset? Thanks!

Foget my above question, I figured it out. New question: In PET, with a Sapphire ROM, all of the trainers are messed up(or at leats I think they are). There are three trainers named Archie, but I think that is normal because in the game he has different pokemon when you battle him each time. The trainer images for him(and all of the others now that I have looked) are wrong. Archie has Elite Four Drake's image, and Brendan has the Rich Kid's image. Please tell me what is wrong or if there is nothing wrong, then tell me how to change this. Thanks in advacne!

Have you dumped the GFX bank with RS ball? That may be your problem.

Find you text in a Hex-editor. It will be stored at the location you chose for the script.

Ok first off, We are not here just to answer your specific questions. There are other people here too. It gets flooded and we get busy; calm down, we'll answer you eventually. :classic:
Now, as for your question... Use Cyclone to edit the map image. As to re-calibrating where the towns are, your on your own there. I'm not sure if a program exists that can do that. There probably is, who knows...

Where did you get the script? Are you sure that the script is correct, because otherwise it's a rom image crash. Lot's of things can trigger this that may not even have to do with the Totodile.

Does anyone have the Emerald pokeroms.ini file so that i can use BaseEdit for emerald. I have looked all over the place for it and i cannot find it. If not does anyone know how i could use a hex editor to change pokemon stats to make them better. I dont know what i need to look for.

The script came from foulump, I just changed it from Cyndaquil to Totodile. It works fine. I get the Totodile, but when I battle, does that. I tried doing somethin other than using scratch, but it did the same thing.

Is there a way to completely erase all of the maps in your ROM? I don't mean to take away the banks, etc.(although that would help too)I just want to make them blank maps. Thanks!

Ok, there's one more question I need answered and then I should be fine for at least today.
I downloaded elitemap a few days ago and read the rubikon tutorial.
From what it told me, the script i have should work.

When I compile it and set it to the fat guy, I go to talk to him and I just here the selecting noise and he walks off.
So what is wrong with it?

@Bxela1- That has happened to me before to. Try re-compiling the script(to another offset), and then setting that offset to the fat guy.

I know how to make script sorta, I want to know if you can make a script that can allow to travel to an Island that I created only after you beat the pokemon league. If this is Possible can you please tell me how to make the script or at least make or give me a tutorial on it. if not I want a script that can make you check to see if you beat the pokemon legue or not so you can access a new area.
