View Full Version : Tool File Modifications

I have decided to give this thread a new look, because I realized that it could be much more than it currently is. Anyway, this thread is for modifications of ROM hacking tools and their files. Anyway, on to the rules:
1. This is NOT a requst thread. Go to the parent forums for that.
2. If you are going to post, make it worthwhile. Don't post a useless comment, or anything like that.
3. MODs are free to edit this post as they see fit, preferably to update my list of files.
4. Do not PM me with questions. I have given up ROM Hacking as a rather in-depth, but unnecessary pursuit. I now develop projects in the Game Development forum.
List of Files:
Emerald in Pokemon Amplifier (http://www.pokecommunity.com/showpost.php?p=3106461&postcount=30)
Advance Map in Danish (http://www.pokecommunity.com/showpost.php?p=3466074&postcount=42)
Pokemon Green in GoldMap (http://www.pokecommunity.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=41754&d=1214714196)
Pokemon Green in Pokemap (http://www.pokecommunity.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=41755&d=1214714196)
Pokemon Yellow in GoldMap (http://www.pokecommunity.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=41756&d=1214714196)
Also, it would appear that I have lost the files that I originally posted here. I would greatly appreciate it if someone would post the files again.

I'm posting program mods for Goldmap and Pokemap.
I've added map offsets for Pkmn Green in them. (not LeafGreen..)
If you need help look in the readme files.
Green.zip has the files for Goldmap.
Green2.zip has the files for PokeMap.

I thought it would be a good idea to start a thread where people can post their modifications of files in tools such as Elitemap's Pokeroms.ini, which many people need. I will personally start off this thread with some modified .ini files for Pokemon Amplifier, which usually is unintelligible to most english speakers. I custom made the .ini files myself, using the data within a Firered ROM. Just paste them in the folder of Pokemon Amplifier named "inis" to make the Pokemon, attacks, and items lists understandable. (You have to overwrite the original files)
All that happens when I click on the link is that it takes me to a blank page. How do I download it?

I came to this thread in search of them, and since I haven't found them, I'll rearched them myself, and now I'll share.
These pointers are for fire red english (BPRE). Just copy and paste them in pokeroms.ini
MonsterNames = &H40FEC
MonsterBaseStats= &H2547a0
MonsterDexData = &H44e850
With these three you can make baseedit and dexter work. BEWARE! dexter looks glitchy! Height/width and size comparison data looks alright (because evolutions are bigger according to that), but the list and the description are glitchy. Maybe it's coded in another way or something. Anyway, the description pointers can be easily found through the text, and maybe you don't even need to edit them.
Sorry, I won't look for the ones for fonted or other programs because I'll only use baseedit and dexter. If you want to find them, try like I did: by comparison with ruby. Went to the pointer in ruby, and searched the data there in fire red. Since names, stats, etc are the same, it was easy. I'm not sure it would work for fonts, though, since they're different so they have different width and data. There are also many font sets in fire red.

I created a INI file for Pokemon Amplifier so that it supports Emerald. I'm not sure I've got the latest version though, but I hope this is still of some use.
I created it by looking for similarities between the Ruby and Emerald roms in a hex editor (as the Ruby INI was already present). So I might have made a mistake, but I don't believe so.
But anyway, use at your own risk.

Here ya go, PokéTronic (http://wah.studiopokemon.com/herramientas/PokeTronic0.7.zip)!
It's hosted on WAH (http://wah.studiopokemon.com). You should check it out, there are a lot of useful things there.
As to being RAM hungry, runs perfectly fine and the CPU usage shows 2% on my laptop. I only have a 1.73GHz processor too so it should be fine on a home PC.
Hope all this helps you!

Also, please stop PMing me with questions about ROM Hacking, I grew tired of this particular pusuit and began to build games in the Game Development Section. That does NOT mean that I have forgotten my ROM hacking skills, but it does mean that I prefer not to be pestered with questions regarding that.

I wanted to say the inis of Yellow (except the wild pokemon ones, i have found them all)...
But i have a problem: I have found the wild pokes (every route) offset, but when i modify the pokémons.ini (i have used presea´s inis) on the goldmap appears as the G/S/C wild pokemon editor (day/evening/night) and the pokemons are in GSC order, not in GRBY order.
lets see: i got on the Hexecute the following line 032403A5... this is lv3 pidgey and lv3 ratatta (route 1) but when i go to modify them on goldmap it says that they are a lv3 Clefable and lv3 Ledyba.
Anybody know why?

Well, I don't know the index of all pokemon, and I'm assuming that bulbasaur is 01, ivisaur 02 etc until Fsomething celebi, but
03 24 - level 3 index 24. That's quite high, over thirty-something
03 A5 - Higher than 100 (64).
They ARE clefable and ledyba, or at least pokemon with higher index than pidgey and rattata... that's not route 1. Where are there wild clefables?

I think it´s because of the program (GOLD map, it has the pokes in GSC hex order)
I thought that the ini would get them in GRBY Hex order
well then, back to hex hacking wild pokes for a while
if you have the preseas inis installed, try w/this ini i edited for green and you´ll see what i´m saying
(original one: Presea / this edit:Me)

This is confusing, but it might be easier (well easiest, if hacking a pre-existing program) to change "Maps.pkm" in Pokemap for use with Green or any other unsupported 1st gen version.
But the inis for Pokemap aren't the easiest to read.
GSC has the 3 sets of 7 Pokemon for each map with wild Pokemon (morning/day/night), and the different hex order for Pokemon than 1st gen.
RGBY has an unorganized pkmn hex list where GSC doesn't.
Even better, just wait for someone to make a tool for it I suppose, thethethethe has "Wild Poke Editor RBY" under "Tools in Planning", maybe he could add the G!

There's a search function in A-Text, so you just click it and search for the text you want to edit. Then it adds it to the ini for future use!

If people are interested. I added all the commands from XSE into Pokescript. So if you're not ready to change over to XSE yet, but still want to use all the commands, download this and paste it into pkmadv folder in your Pokescript folder.
I also changed some things.
Money commands work like this.
givemoney 0x123456
Cry works like this.
cry 0x<pokemon number>
Playsound works like this.
playsound 0x<song number>
Wildbattle also works the way it should now.
I also removed a lot of the extra baggage that came with the givepokemon command.
Oh and don't get confused between how givepokemon works in XSE and how it works in pokescript. With this 'update' it works the same way, like this.
givepokemon 0x1 0x5 0x8B
And I also fixed up the name Pokemon.
It just needs to go something like this.
if 0x1 gosub $naming
goto $hap
end
#org $naming
namepokemon

Guys i need a link to translate items and pokemon in PKMN Amplifier AE 2006 {2007 is unusable}. Thank you vm..
There's a search function in A-Text, so you just click it and search for the text you want to edit. Then it adds it to the ini for future use!
Yeah, but some people die for the words. A huge INI would be better than:
RMHCKR: OK, search for Awaken the Pokemon Groudon....
ADV-TXT: MAXIE: AWAKEN THE POKEMON GROUDON! HAHAHA!
PMHCKR: Write to INI...
PSK (ME): THen the RMHCKR HAS TO CHOOSE A title and a subtiltle.
PSK: I was almost exploding while tryi'n to transform MAY to DAWN. I know that is a good program and apreciate that but it's tireful!
