How to Change Tileset 1 in Pokemon Gold

First open up your Gold Rom in Tile Layer Pro (Comes with EliteMap). Then go Edit > Goto...(or Ctrl+G). The insert the offset 18942, then click Go to, then it should get you to the Tileset 1, somethings won't change because they either have an animation effect or they just won't change.

How to Change the Trainer Card in Pokemon Gold

First open up your Gold Rom in Tile Layer Pro. Then go Edit > Goto...(or Ctrl+G). The insert the offset 253FF, then click Go to. This should take you to the Trainer Card, you can edit badges and people on it.

How to Change the Overworld Sprites in Pokemon Gold

First open up your Gold Rom in Tile Layer Pro. Then go Edit > Goto...(or Ctrl+G). The insert the offset C0000, then click Go to. All the trainer sprites should be there.

How to Change the Text at the start in Pokemon Gold

First open up your Gold Rom in Tile Layer Pro. Then go Edit > Goto...(or Ctrl+G). The insert the offset E4000, then click Go to. You can edit the Nintendo and Gamefreak text at the start of the game.

I'll try to get some more up soon, but that is all I have for now.

The title screen is encrypted, so you can't edit that unless you patch it. There should be a patch by AV Hacks somewhere, but I don't know where to find it.

Can you tell me the Trainer Sprites offset?

In TLP, the trainers are compressed if that is what you are asking for, otherwise use Agixp.

Also I have reuploaded the Agixp tutorial to a different server so it should work now.

Search for COMDLG32.OCX and put that in the same area as you have Agixp in your system files.

New Offsets
Fishing Sprites Male trainer overworld sprites = 50500
Pokemon overworld sprites = 8E9FE
Tile Animations = FC348
Font = F82F1- change the Format by going View > Format> 1BPP.

The uncompressed tileset should be at 98BFE and the Ho-oh, still compressed should be at E4202. To edit the palletes you need to use hex.

Hex is your answer, search for the Trainer's name and after that it goes [Pokemon][Pokemon Level] for basic trainers, repeats for the number of Pokemon. Leaders/Rival battles go like this: [Pokemon][Pokemon Level][Attack1][Attack2][Attack3][Attack4].

TBC would be the only tool, but you need to make the path go the the ini files in "Config.ini"

Ok...in the folder you have containing TBC and the ini files, there is a "config.ini" file, open it up using Notepad and underneath 659.9055 write the new location(where the ini files are), then TBC should work.

Is it possible to edit Tileset 1, 2, 3, etc.

I think I'll just leave the screen Blank.

Since you are a Gold hacker, I bet you know how to insert these pictures without them messing up(ATTACHED)(Agixp411) they have the same Three colors plus white, so I don't see what is wrong.

The Image sizes are your problem....

Rival = 56 x 56 so make your sprite that size.
Rattata = 40 x 40 so make Munchlax that size.

Also for Pokemon most first evos will either be 40 x 40 or 48 x 48, second evos will usually be 48 x 48 or 56 x 56 and then third evos will be 56 x 56. Just look at the image size of the one you are going to replace.

Could I have a name change for this thread, can it be called Blazichu's Tutorials instead?

Also for RSE hackers I am on the brink of discovering the X and Y positions on the world map...

http://www.freewebs.com/pkmngoldhacker/0.%20MapRuby.PNG

That only happens when you are on the map...so when you move the box it goes back to normal...

The offset is 0x3E73C4 in a hex editor, the order goes [X position][Y position][01][01][Pointer1][Pointer2][Pointer3][08]

I tried to search for the flight positions, but the pointer only showed up three times and only one edited the map.

I'll go back onto my break I just wanted people to know what was discovered.

It might not be the perfect flight positions, but it is a start.

So Enjoy!

I just worked out the pointers and then found part of the Hoenn map, I still can't find the exact X and Y pointers. Also soon I might make a tutorial about adding new scripts into blank space for a gold/silver rom, all using hex :P.

Blazichu has a .txt file of a list of all the trainers, in Agixp411, ask him.

I wonder why that happens, because that is the glitch that ONLY happend on my hack: Pokémon Eruption, due to ASM hacking the speed of text, so that it can be almost instant.

Are you using my patch from Reenage? Or are you a good ASM hacker of gold?

But does anyone know the number in TLP for the titlescreen (not ho-oh, just the text <Gold Version>)?

That question is answered in this thread already. On the first page, it should say uncompressed tileset: <number>.

Blazichu

Madridsta you have to use the patch (the one cooley put up on the last page) before going to that offset then the titlescreen should be uncompressed.

Where are the offsets to the intro animation with Pikachu, Jigglypuff, Charizard ect.?

They would be around where it sayd Gamefreak in the part before that. They are compressed though and I do not know there exact location.

Also, I might get a new tutorial up soon. I am not sure what to do it on though I have a choice between creating a repointing tileset data tutorial (plus how to get clean/unedited tilesets) or how to create scripts for certain events tutorial (such as battles, walking scripts, triggered events, etc.). I am still not sure what one to do though.

Hopefully I will get one, maybe some people here might help me choose.

The scripting tutorial was great, although I do have a couple questions about it:
1. How do I find the script pointer of the person I want to give a script to (Step 7)?
2. Step 11 talks about calculating a new pointer. I have no idea how to do this, so I would use a pointer calculator, but I have no idea what that is either. What is a pointer calculator and where can I download one?
Thanks!

Blazichu
July 29th, 2008, 02:22 AM
1. You can do it manually, by searching for the map data then finding the sprite number or the beginning of a script. The easier option would be to use MegaMap as it displays the pointers (last 2-bytes) under "Script-Pointers:".

2. Attached is a pointer calculator I found on a site ages ago.

Thanks for the calculator. MegaMap seems like it would definitely make it easier, I'm just trying to find a place to download it.

I found MegaMap and I'm still having troubles finding people. I see the "Script-Pointer" in MegaMap. I searched this hex value in Translhextion, which is the only way I can think of to find this person. However, using the original Gold Version, when I search 9E40 (pointer for my rival according to MegaMap), I can find 9E40 4 times. How do I know which is the one I'm looking for?

Well it depends if they are in the same bank or not.

In Megamap, there are 2 numbers before the pointer, that is the bank.
To get the offset use Scizz's tool, A-point(pointer calulator), to get the offset from the pointer. It's very simple actually.

Umm...the bytes before the pointer are shown in MegaMap also, so you can just check with those, or you can change the byte of one and see if that will change the script, then change it back if it doesn't.

1. Is this in-game or in a tile editor?

2. You can use a tile editor's import option.

You would need to find the pointers of the tileset first. Then you add a new slightly compressed tileset (like Tileset 1, also use + and - to compress and decompress) into blank space. Then you replace the old pointers with the new pointers. After that start editing.

Also I have attached a slight expansion on the GoldSilverBanks.ini for Poketext (Just replace the old one), I did this awhile back...could have been early last year. Hopefully it should help those who are struggling with editing text.

you can change the byte of one and see if that will change the script, then change it back if it doesn't.

That worked great. I found the correct pointer. Thanks.

Pointers of tilesets can be a bit more difficult. The tileset headers are located at 0x156D3 and they go [Tile 3-byte Pointer][Block data 3-byte Pointer][Collision data 3-byte Pointer].

That worked great. I found the correct pointer. Thanks.

Basic trial and error, sometimes easy, sometimes hard. Depends on how many bytes arise that are the same. :P

How size I use on Corsola? I already tried in size 40x40, 56x56 and 48x48 and every mistake I made was trying to replace the Happiny
PS: You can create a tutorial of how to change the pallet of hero?

Umm..no need to revive month old threads, but seeing as it is mine I might as well answer.

Corsola is 48 x 48 in size, so that is the height and width you would have to use.

There are plenty of tutorials explaining how to change palettes of anything in this forum.
