Some of you may be aware that 15 members of British forces were taken "prisoner" recently by the Iran government, who claim that Britain was breaching their waters, even though the British were in Iraqi waters which is legal.

How would you react if you were Tony Blair right now?

Personally after how Iran has being mocking the prisoners live on TV I'd gather a good amount of British navel ships along with some aircraft carriers and one of the Trident project submarines and sail over to Iran demanding they comply with the law and release the 15 prisoners, if not I would be forced to mount an attack on the Iranian coast and navy.

By no means am I agreeing or even condoling war, but when negotiations fail / are unreasonable it sometimes becomes the best option.

the thing is, the line between the irani, and the iraqi waters is very very un clear, and nobody has actually defined the line for a long time, which really should have been done around 20 years go

You actually proved Esupio's point with this statement.

See, everyone knows exactly where they're capture in terms of coordinates. It's the coordinates themselves that are debated rather that's Iraqi or Iranian waters. The same location belongs to two different countries depending on which map you're looking at, and that's the problem.

Good points there guys, still, what's gone on is pretty much unjust, and the demands are completely out of reach.

Umm... they're not prisoners. They have been arrested. Iran is just trying to say "Back off" and they say that they entered Irans waters several times before. It's really their own fault.

Goverment could easily change a fact for their own benefits. Anyway it could be a strategy to legalize attacking Iran (I hope it wont be a war because it could be a larger war)

Do you have any idea how much they're trying to avoid a war with Iran. Do you have any idea of the things that the president of Iran says? Attacking Iran is the worst move anyone could make at this point, but since the US and Iran enjoy provoking each other it will probably end up happening anyways. And as others have said, Iran thinks that they were within Iranian waters, so by all means as far as Iran is concerned, what they're doing is entirely acceptable. The British forces should have known better than to enter such a grey zone. Britain's best option as of now really is pure diplomacy. As cold and cruel as it may sound, 15 dead soldiers who are knowingly putting their life on the line is far better than the countless innocents who will die because of a war with Iran. President Ahmadinejad has stated on numerous occasions his desire to rid the world of Israel, and considering the supposed nuclear weapons program they have running, a war with Iran could be the greatest mistake in history.

Yeah, I would have to say that attacking Iran would be the dumbest thing they could do. It would most likely mean catastrophe for not only Britain, but many many other countries as well. I sympathize for the family members of the soldiers, but this is certainly not the time to attack Iran simply because you think you're right.

Yes, because parading a British, non religious woman around in Muslim headgear and forcing her to "thank" her captives really is just isn't it?
The war is unavoidable now, those poor people will be hung, and the US and UK will move in.

"Umm... they're not prisoners. They have been arrested. Iran is just trying to say "Back off" and they say that they entered Irans waters several times before. It's really their own fault."
The funny thing there is Iran isn't trying to say back off, it's demanding that Britain and the US stop the war on Iraq.

Really, I don't know what they've told you in the states, but it obviously isn;t the full story.

Put it this way. Your Son has being "arrested" illegally. He's going to be hung unless something is done soon. In his troop is a young mother and several young men, all whom were doing their jobs. Now, tell me that an attack would be unfair.

We know not the truth... are you sure that the story told in your state/country weren't changed/altered for gaining public support?

And why are you so sure that they will be hanged? .

If they're gonna be hung, they will be hung. I doubt there is any way to avoid that. If an attack is launched they'll simply execute them faster than they had planned. =\

The hang theory is pretty much there because Tony Blair refuses to do anything other than deny the demands of Iran. Without a negotiation taking place, then there is no reason for Iran to keep those hostages. They aren't just going to give them back, so sadly, I believe that this'll end like nearly all hostage situations of recent years. In the death of the hostages.

I would usually believe my Country has "edited" information, but videos and pictures have being aired of the hostages being publicly humiliated and racially targeted.

Iran has held hostages for extended periods of time before without killing them. Why? Because if a leader is incapable of getting the troops back, then the public is naturally going to view said leader as a weak and incapable leader. They did it '79 with Jimmy Carter, now it appears they're doing it to Blair. If the public turns completely against Blair over the matter, naturally the leader of the opposition is going to start making promises about withdrawing troops to win support of the voters. Now I don't know whether the opposition in Britain has already made such vows, but I'm sure now more than ever this will be the platform they use to achieve victory at the polls. The British are the US's only major ally in this war, all the other nations involved frankly don't have big or powerful enough armies to make any major difference. So if you at least weaken the British support of the US, then chances are the US will withdraw faster and preferably stop meddling in affairs that they have nothing to do with.

Of course I may be entirely wrong, but this is just based on what has happened numerous times before.

This just in the Iranian government has announced it will free the hostages as an Easter gift for the British people. I hope it is true but I won't believe it till they are on British ships.
