Thing is, not all people playing in the map give a hoot about how good it looks from an overhead view. They only see about 40 squares at a time! Sure, good, natural mapping is good, but it's a game, not a mapping showcase!
Well, I like the players to see a good map. Anyways, my maps aren't really that hard to play through, I test them.

I agree with TBP once again: I want people to enjoy the enviroment. All my maps are easy to play through, even though you cant pass them with only two buttons that you hold for 10 seconds.
Also I like to challenge the palyers with mazes and riddles some times (like frozen lakes and those things with strength rocks)
anyway, i think this is pointless, we have a different point of view so we wont find a solution for this^^ and this thread is to rate maps and tell what could be done better at them, not to argue about different styles of mapping

The first map in my restart.
There is a back story to this.
The Town sits at the bottom of the volcano, years ago the volcano erupted, leveling the land below thus creating the town.
The ashes also blended in with the soil making it an ideal growing place for plants
The mart is the only one for miles.
THe houses aren't final, I'll be changing them.
Sorala canyon.
note: there is more than this map, but its irrelevent and only there so that the border block doesnt look like a giant tile error.

Use of tiles: 19/20 - These are great use of tiles! I remember playing a GTA game-ish with a MARIO PIPE in it.
Playability: 18/20 - Not easy to go through, but it's great!
Creativity: 18/20 - Can you be any more creative in a forest? Well, yes.
Other: 16/20 - Actually, I found a way to reach the grass, so try working a little bit there.
Overall: 17.8/20 - Very good map, I like it. A bit of work at the top-right, but it's a little bit. About 5 minutes worth.

Other: 16/20 - Actually, I found a way to reach the grass, so try working a little bit there.
Should I have to show events? There's a Cut tree. :\ The whole top half isn't complete and is gonna be used for an event in future. :\

I dont think theyre empty, they appear really well filled to me. The only thing i noticed was the river being unnaturally straight and on route 1 you should remove some of the tall grass patches randomly in the middle of the tall grass section. that looks good^^
other than that i think these are are really well done, much space, but thats no problem to me

@Pokepal17: The map is rubbish, like you said. Look at Neti's or Itman's tutorial for mapping.
1. NEVER EVER make words out of anything.
2. The GYM is unacessible
3. The rocks under the big building are not meant to be placed like that, the same for the bushes
4. You have a problem with the border
5. More, but I don't have time to count it all...

Looks good. I have the feeling that it would look lots better with the events put in. It gives the feeling of emptyness without them for some reason unknown to me.I think if you added some scenery like flowers or pathes it might help a lot.All in all if it has good placement of events 7/10. You are getting better.

Meh... The paths are a bit empty, and I cherish Silver Version... (My first Pokemon Game) So I rate Remakes pretty harsh...
I don't like it.
I am really not trying to be mean, but the only things that make it look like slowpoke well in any way, are the Elevated ground being in the same general area, and even that's not right...
For Mapping quality, if it had events in it, I'd give it a 6/10
For calling it a re-make, and having it be nothing like the original, 4/10

2nd map: 6/10: I don't know what kind of contest that was, but that map is certainly not good. It only has one level and it's boring.

I'm only rating your first map because of what I said above.
Rating: 6.5/10
Reason: Okay, these tiles just dominate the map, and if we were to look at the map without the tiles, it'd look plain and simple. It feels like there wasn't enough effort added into this map, and there would be soo many border errors >.<. Also, looking at the bushes, the outline is orange... >.<
I'd like to see more good maps from you ;D

Your first map.... you have a big future.
For your first map is it great.
The tiles are good, the mapping is not bad -> good map.
But 1 thing... fill up the empty spaces and take a look at your map, you'll find tile errors.

The idea of the cave is good, and there are no mapping mistakes, but I didn't like the style of the cave...

Rating: 7/10
Reason: It's well done. The shape of the cliffs is good, the beach looks nice, but there are a bunch of issues you'll run into on this map. One of those things being the border problems on the left side. Another being there is not enough space in the actual town portion to move. You'll be stuck on the path 95% of the time, and in my opinion, the player should be able to freely wander off and on the path. Sadly, the waterfall is done wrong, and leads to a small little pond? That's poorly done. The waterfall should lead to maybe the beach to say the least.

not a bad map at all it could do with some filling out and livening up a little bit also there might be a problum with the borders there should be 7 tiles in every direction for the border or the player will see a glitch area outside of the map ther than that its not bad at all the tree placement is great 6.5/10

The lower half really looks quite good.
I just think that the upper part looks abit to empty, try to diversify there ;)
I'd give you 7/10 all in all, but I've also got a suggestion...
In your comment, you wrote that you tried making it look as much overgrown as possible...it doesn't look that overgrown. (yeah quite..but it could be more ^^)
My suggestion...make the map bigger..x1.5 width or so..
And then get a lot of vegetation in there, it will look much more like the map you wanted to create ;)

Rating just kidding xD, as requested I won't rate it.
Reason: Some tree shading off with the block edits you made... there are numerous tile errors throughout the map, and the cliffs overlapping is done poorly. One final thing, part of the river looks odd ;D

You all know that I usually dont rate maps. The reason for that is exactly that.
That might sound confusing xD ill explain it in short words: if i would rate a map there would be no comparable value.
you can not compare two maps ratings that were made by different persons most often.
you can only sum up all ratings and compare those, or you compare the ratings of a specific person that rated both maps.
Thats the reason why I didn't use to rate maps
But from now on I will do so (again).
I will follow my own standartized rating system that i made.
All my ratings will follow it, i will place a link to it in my signature.
Feel free to use and refer to it.

You all know that I usually dont rate maps. The reason for that is exactly that.
That might sound confusing xD ill explain it in short words: if i would rate a map there would be no comparable value.
you can not compare two maps ratings that were made by different persons most often.
you can only sum up all ratings and compare those, or you compare the ratings of a specific person that rated both maps.
Thats the reason why I didn't use to rate maps
But from now on I will do so (again).
I will follow my own standartized rating system that i made.
All my ratings will follow it, i will place a link to it in my signature.
Feel free to use and refer to it.
Still, I will not rate all maps, so dont bug me.

This seems very well made. Personally, I am perfectly fine with the way I currently rate maps, but I would highly recommend this to people who are new to mapping and rating maps. That map is sooo very much my type^^
But lets see where i deducted some points...
Natural Sense: I think that there are too many stairs and most of them are too wide, that doesnt fit with the rest of the route
Map Structure: The Layout itsself is brilliant BUT some sissys will be annoyed by having to walk down right down right down right instead of down down down right right right... I personally dont see that as a problem in maps, but i heard from some people that they hate that
I also noticed two extremely small tile errors (theyre so small, i still gave you 100% there)
At some of the brown patches that are in edges you have an edge of normal grass on it, i noticed two of them
that might be wanted, but im not sure ;-)

This map fairly isnt very special.
BUT you seem to have the skills, you just have to train them.
What can you improve?
Overall look: Hmm when it pops up the first time it looks ok, colorful (mainly vecause of the path and the lake) but already a second later it appears boring to me. Try to make it less plain.
Idea: Well, a calm starting town. Thats what most people choose, I think its OK but its nothing special. Also you could have made more thoughts about the layout before starting to map.
No straight lines: Thats what probably cut off most of your points: The lake, the path, the little (useless) mountain and the upper border are VERY straight. You should spend more time on that. believe me, it looks way betetr if you do ;-)
Variety of tiles: You used bushes, flowers, rocks, different trees, different houses... Well theres not much you can dow wrong at this point with the standard tileset.
The one point that is missing is reserved for the use of new tiles (like the bridges in colcolstyles map) or special tiles (like waterfalls etc).
Natural sense: Well, the bottom of the map seems alright and so does the path (besides the fact that it is so long and leaves the town). But the lake/pond and the upper border are not natural.
Map Structure: The whole map is just like one string... no mountains, no things that block the heros way... its possible to cross the map with only one button at all!
edit: my good friend colcolstyles found some tile errors on your map:
at the evry botto mright of the lake theres a mysterious shadow...
and you used wrong tiles at the small trees at the bottom, compare them with the ones at the top
it wont affect your rating (average), so im not gonna edit the image

I like this map. The new tiles work very well with the palettes you chose and the fit to each other.
Now, lets see what I disliked.
No straight lines: You were very good at this point in total, but the mountains appeared a bit straight at most parts. Theyre good nevertheless, but you can make them look even more natural by rounding them more.
Variety of tiles: Theres too much space on the mountain in my opinion. You should have added another level up there that cant be reached by the player.
Natural Sense: The only cutoff here is that the trees that form the border are placed in horizontal AND vertical rows. With the block editor you can make new tiles so you can place them diagonal.

As the rating says: Its good, but nothing special in my eyes.
This si what I think could have been done better:
Overall look: I think the DP Palettes cut off some points here, I dont liek them very much. ALso the dark path doesnt look very nice.
Idea: You definitely made some thoughts about what the map should look like before starting to map, but it doesnt really have something special that makes the palyer remember it.
No straight lines: I reduced your rating only by a half point here.
Its just like in the rating I did before: The mountains could have been a bit more rounded.
Variety of tiles: You inserted new tiles, good ones in my opinion and theyre inserted correctly. That mainly save this point for you, because you have only 1 type of trees on the whole map. also there are only 2 bushes and no rocks at all (except for the mountain). You actually can be happy that I gave you 2 points here.
Natural Sense: I can onyl repeat what I already said in the previous rating: The Trees that make the border are in horizontal and vertical rows. Try to make some tiles in the block editor that allow you to place them diagonal.
Map Structure: Its not boring, it is also easy to play. But you destroy the triangle layout by letting the player pass the little mountain at the right side of it. Block the heros path there.

Well, I tried to fix my map according to the review Neti gave me. ^^
Comments: Just so you know, there aren't any border errors in-game. I checked, and it's impossible to reach the border in any direction (It's one square off on the top part of the mountain :D)

I think this is the best rating someone received with my new rating system, congratulations!
If you werent already working on a hack i would ask you to join Lucario9 who is curretnly trying to find some talented hackers to found a team and finally stay with a hack^^
There are only minor mistakes:
Natural Sense: The trees are standing in rows at some parts, which I dont like. You can expandd the border tiles in the map header (professional view) so you can always use the good tiles that you used at some parts on the map.
No Tile Errors: Check these things:

for the mountains that meet the grass you can use those grass tiles that you normally place at the border to water when the grass is under the water. it looks nice then.
and correct the mountain errors, theyre really easy to see^^

actually i dont like to rate a map twice, even though its an edited version
but i have a tip for you:
there are some free providers that give webspace away for free.
the reason why they do that is that if you place a website on the webspace there will be popups, so they get the money back.
well, if you just use it for uploading images, that popups wont bother you
i use a free server of ohost (nareas.na.ohost.de) with 250gb webspace wo uplaod my images.
i do have other servers that i pay for, but i dont want to use them for romhacking stuff cause its only a hobby and those serers are used for serious stuff ^^
for uplaoding your images there you would need an ftp client (i recommend filezilla) to upload stuff.
if thats all to complicated for you, im sure you will find an imagehosting service that doesnt change the format to jpg on the internet
a classmate of mine owns the biggest german imagehosting service, but i think he sold it... lol... it should be possible there but i fotgot the url^^
maybe i can find it out, ill let you know then

Reason: Frankly, I was quite shocked to see Neti giving this map such a good rating. To be blunt, it's quite bad. First and foremost, the tile errors are blatant and vast in number. Although Neti pointed out some of them, there were still quite a few that he missed. For example, the hideous, truly awful tree error on the east edge of the map. I honestly cringed when I saw that. Your use of the mountain tiles is just terrible. The physical impossibilities are so seriously disturbing, to even consider of a 9.2 rating is absurd (I'm looking at you, Neti). If I were to make a picture like Neti did with all of the mapping errors highlighted, you wouldn't be able to see the map. Harsh, yes, but someone needs to speak out before this page is lost like all the others.
A Net Center and a PokéCetner? A little much don't you think? Your tree shading (or lack thereof) is poor. Also, you can't just transition straight from grass to mountain tile. The same goes for differing mountain shades. You used two different types of paths. Grass in towns is frowned upon, even in unreachable areas. You used only one grass tile, save for a handful of tiles here and there. You have a cave entrance that leads to nothing. This would be okay if you were going to put a pokéball there but there is no room for that. My guess is that you made this map without taking gameplay and storyline into consideration. Your use of cave entrances seems to suggest exactly that.
Suggestions: Look at a mapping tutorial. Any one at all.
P.S. Please don't take any of this personally. I know it's hard (even I struggle with it) but very little of what I write in a critical manner is written out of anger or hate. Take this as constructive criticism.

Wow, harsh. But I see what your saying honostley when i saw that rating from neti it made me wonder if expectations from map making have changed. I think there may be a flaw in netis new rating system.

Rating: 3/10 (Hm, you got Neti's highest rating and my lowest? Strange how that works...)
Reason: Frankly, I was quite shocked to see Neti giving this map such a good rating. To be blunt, it's quite bad. First and foremost, the tile errors are blatant and vast in number. Although Neti pointed out some of them, there were still quite a few that he missed. For example, the hideous, truly awful tree error on the east edge of the map. I honestly cringed when I saw that. Your use of the mountain tiles is just terrible. The physical impossibilities are so seriously disturbing, to even consider of a 9.2 rating is absurd (I'm looking at you, Neti). I already figured out my map rating system produces too good ratings...
there was a map once that i didnt really like and it got really close to 20
well i think ill have to change the system a bit, put less points on obvious things such as "no straight lines" or "no tile errors" and more on the things based on my personal opinion and feeling, eg "idea" and "overall look"
but i still dont consider that one map bad
it looks nice
yes, it has a lot of errors, but those can be fixed

Too much blank space 0m3GA. It is big enough as a city, but the space needs filling a little more. Try adding more buildings into it. The houses with a green roof have tile errors, so don't use them.

I give your map a 3/10. What are you trying to do with the lake or w/e in the middle? It really looks bad, especially with the messy grass tiles all around it. Not to mention all the empty space and badly placed houses. It also looks like your going to have some border problems.
Try something smaller before you move onto cities, once you seem to be good at mapping towns and routes and stuff then move on. Also go to the tuts/documents section of the forums and look at some of the AdvMap tuts, there are a lot of them.

Your map just seems way to busy, lots of rocks and lots of bushes. It makes it look hard for the player to get around. The mountains decent, but a lot of tile errors.
suggestions: take your time, its no race, make sure everything is perfect and dont make a map that you would like make a map that a player would like that is similar to your idea.

A little thing thatis bugging me about this map is the house roof with the mountain tiles behind. If you look carfully (and I mean very) you can see that the mountain pattern behind the red roof doesn't match the one to the side. Hardly noticable, but I'm fussy.
Overall, its great, but unplayable, like stated before. 9/10.

Comments: Who says only advanced maps are well done? This rating also applies to the previous map you posted. They're both nice and simple, great shape, nearly flawless wild grass arrangements, and what is this!? Different grass!??! (not the wild grass) I never see this anymore! The only thing I don't like about this map is the abundance of flowers. These two maps have received the highest rating I've given since I became a harsher rater. Congratulations =D

worked it out :P nice one disturbed the ting was difficult for sure but it was a little plane also if you were playing through the random battles would probably make you get lost very easily still the chalange was refreshing so 8/10

the map is nice and playable ,but remove some of the fences(or all) and replace them with some trees, beacouse the map would be too square then.If you are making with fences then make the same fences!

i cant really see a way to fix to odd tile error type areas without them looking worse

Actually, those houses are taken straight from Fire Red... no tile errors...
And to anyone who asked, the Lake is there for a reason, it ties into the story, including the house placement, and messy grass around it.
Everything in my map is there for a reason, and no, there are no border errors, I checked...

Well, it's a good remake. There are no tile errors, and it's Olivine as I remember it.
...Which leads me to wonder whether I remember it at all.
Nonetheless, it's a good remake, but the lighthouse's proportions are dodgy-looking.

However there is a tile error and the waterfall is in the wrong place. It is at the bottom but it should be at the top because water naturally flows downwards.

Comments: The first thing I noticed is that the hidden berry grass tile is way overused. There shouldn't be that many hidden items in a map of this size. If you're using them as alternate grass tiles, I'd advise using some of the other tiles provided. I'm not sure that there would be street lamps on a forested route like this. There are numerous tree shading errors. The paths are done nicely and the grass is placed quite well. The map seems to be one way, as you can't go back up the ledge in the left of the map.

The map is way too cramped, space it out a little, you bunched a lot of bushes and trees together. and you have used 3 different path tiles. and dont use the hidden grass tiles that much. bunch the grass a little more, it looks patchy and bad. not bad tho.

I have made up my own map rating system.
And im about to use it on sasquatchd00d.
Building Placement: 7/10 Awsome
7/10 is a awsome rating. Could be more bigger aeound the houses
Vegetration: 6/10 Great
The flowers are okay, but the bushes seem to empty around the bottom right.
Pathways: 9/10 Super
They are nicly implemented, and not streight.
Map Shape: 7/10 Awsome
The trees are Great, the map is kinda small, but i'd say its great and simple.
Overall: 80% out of 100%
Try to improve the ammount of trees inside the border.
And the spaces outside the pathway seem to be empty.
Keep trying and you shall improve.

I shall use my own kind of form as well.
Structure - 8.7/10
The shape is nice, but the map seems too small to give it a great shape. Try making it slightly bigger in width.
Vegetation - 9.1/10
The vegetation is nice, and the way you used the trees is nice. There seem to be a few empty spots though. So try spreadingout the trees more instead of connecting them next to each other.
Overall - 17.8/20 [C+]

Comments - The map was very nice. I see no tile errors. I like where you placed the ledge too, but there needs to be some improvements to it. Just read what I said above, and it should be good. ;3

Comments: I quite like this map. The shape is very nice and I like the two routes in one map you have going on. There are a few tree shading errors in the mid-level left of the map. The path shapes are done well; they aren't too straight and they don't stay the same width. The grass could be placed a little better because where it's placed right now, the player could avoid most of it and only have to walk through a few tiles of it. Overall, nice job.

Here comes the rating.
Structure - 9.0/10
This is great the shape is absolutely wonderful. The grass and trees in your way is a little obstacle course. The mountains make it a little challenge! The mountain shape seems great, and the pond shape is nice too. But there is a little bit of empty space at the top right near the building, top left near the mountain, and top left on the mountain. bThe two paths at the top are juststrange and unnecessary to me. The pond could use a few water rocks. Just block edit them into the pond palettes.
Vegetation - 9.4/10
Vegetation is nice. I see a lot of flowers, some rocks, and two bushes. The use of mini trees are great. Like I said above though, there is some empty space. So you migh want to fix that with some more bushes.
Overall - 18.4/20

It has Pokémon grass, because the connection between this town and the starter town is a sea route, and you are ferried across that route, so there has to be some place where you can find wild Pokémon. The connection with the 1st town (Route 301) is to the north, and south is Route 302.

Comments: To start off, your map is very empty. You have flowers placed in groups, when they really should be spread out more. If the town is going to be this big, there should be more buildings, because right now they are bunched in the top. If you're going to have a ferry service, shouldn't there be a dock? The grass is too easily avoidable, if you're not going to make the player go through it, there is no point in having it. They won't go in it, because players are lazy and will avoid most wild battles if they can. The little rocks need some block editing because they don't match the color of the sea tiles you are using. The path looks odd, it probably shouldn't be that wide all the way through. The tree placement is good, none of it is too straightly placed. There are some tile errors I spotted in the trees though.
I see great potential in your maps as long as you keep mapping.

Very nice, but I'd use more variety in the paths, like adding some grass paths.

I think there's a bit too much sand.
It's got wonderful shape, however, and it's quite mazy, like a mountain cavern should be. :D

Well, Xray, I'm impressed. Some of the stuff seems a tad too repetitive (i.e. the 4 blocked boulders) and can easily be expanded or replaced. One other thing, there seems to be a tad too much sand. Also, a couple tile errors spotted as well. ><

Well, I'll quickly give this a 6.1, because of empty space.
Also, the main reason I'm rating this is to tell you a trick on how to get flawless quality. When saving the map picture (tools > Save Map Picture) just write down it's name without any suffixes (i.e. .png, .jpeg)
It will be saved in .DIB quality. Now, photobucket doesn't allow this form, so now we need to change it to a png. Simply open it up in Paint, and do a regular File > Save As, and it would automatically be a jpeg. Click the thing that says jpeg to change the file type to png.
There ya go, perfect image quality. ^^

Why the Heck? First off, the path is utterly straight...that's a no-no, that sort of straightness is used for the paths in big cities, not natural ones. The map is almost entirely square...which is bad. All the corners(except one) are right angles...besides that, there is one straight row of trees on all sides but one. There is a ton of empty space...bad. The mountain looks as if it was only placed there as a space-filler, it dosen't blend with the map at all.
Comments 80% of the tiles you used are Kyledove's unusable tiles...do not use them.

For the emptyness, The only really empty part of the map is the top of the mountain, which there is no point in filling since no one will see it, the mountain is not that straight, and the parts that are straight are so that it has some playability, likewise for the grass.

Not all of us do that my friend. I, myself, rate on beauty, as I think it's better to make them appealing to the eyes, rather than a cakewalk to go through. That's just me, though. Lets please not get into this debate again(Although I'm directly disobeying what I just said xd).

Fantastic map, my friend. The only thing I don't like is the straight mountains. Everything else was wonderfully done... I must say this is one of your better maps.

Grass doesn't have good placement? That's how Nintendo intended the grass to be placed... not the way we're doing it, or in this case, you with random straight lines everywhere :(
It's empty because it is a map with good playability. Notice how maps made by people who are good at mapping started to get kinda annoying because of the difficulty it took to get through them... That in my opinion, is mapping without reason.
And a response to the P.S., some people have no artistic sense in themselves whatsoever, as it would mean a big unfair disadvantage when the time comes to create their own hacks.

First of all, im going to rate the water. The sand is fine. but the rocks in the water.
They're all the same, correct me if im wrong, there are 2 types?

Next up is the mountains, They are okay. Not straight and all.

Now for the paths, and greenery.. You need a major pallet change, in the path at the top of the map.
and I simply hate the way they are all small and straight, then big and Great.
The trees are OK. They are spacious. however.. see the empty spaces through.
Same with the flowers. they Suck, and could be better. (flowers are glued together.)

Might as well rate the tiles..
Well first off, some of it don't go together, A triangle, and a rectangle. Yuk.
and your block edits are lazy. (See behind triangle) Maybe look at the bottom of the tree shadow.. (Don't bother me much)
Total 5/10 Poor.

Why the Heck? First off, the mountains seem to follow themselves a little too much, although the general shape is quite nice. The path seems a little too straight, but meh. I love the placement of the houses, and the block edits you did on them, quite nice. The tree placement is nice, although seems a little awkward. The map seems quite empty, but whatever.

Nope. You can't see the trees, because it's +5 up and down, and +7 left/right. And the border is mountain.

I think, one of your best maps so far. The paths aren't straight for the most part (looks at exit), flowers and trees aren't overused, and the grass looks pretty well done. Some of the straighter parts of the mountain bug me a bit, and I think the area to the northeast of the three cave entrances feels a bit empty (as in you might want to add an exta mountain level or two). Overall, this is an excellent map. I hope you do just as good of a job in the future. ;)
Also, that one staircase leading downwards is bugging me, too. >_<

I'm not giving it an actual rating, I'm just critiquing it.
1. Loads of tile errors
2. Loads of tree shading errors
3. Berry grass abundance
4. Poor mountain shape
5. Border errors maybe I'm wrong.
6. Way too filled, easily possible.
7. I believe your trying to hard.
There's my criticism. Enjoy it, it can only help you improve.

This map is so beatuiful and simple. I don't really have a "rating" style but...
I'd say for the shape I'd give you a 4.8/5, just because the left side is a little bit square.
For building placement a 4.2/5 simply because that house on the right of the pond is kind of aligned to the purple one.

No tile errors that I can see.

Some of the silvery and brown rocks to the right are sticking out.

Oh, and I don't even know how to fix tree shading so I can't say anything on that.

You're about to be crushed.
I'm not giving it an actual rating, I'm just critiquing it.
1. Loads of tile errors
2. Loads of tree shading errors
3. Berry grass abundance
4. Poor mountain shape
5. Border errors maybe I'm wrong.
6. Way too filled, easily possible.
7. I believe your trying to hard.
There's my criticism. Enjoy it, it can only help you improve.

Since I was getting complaints about obsidian having Tree shadow errors.
So I changed the tiles a and Pallets.
Wow.
So when you're faced with a problem, you just find a way to avoid solving it? That's an interesting outlook on life.

Well, here's now my fourth ever map. Well, not COMPLETELY original but.....
This is Old Bark Town, a revamp of New Bark Town... It's supposed to look like 30 years later.
Although it may not look like it but.. I had to do over 10 block edits :S
Oh, and don't rate me on tree shadowing.. I'm still trying to learn that stuff.

Okay, here's my overall rating: 4/10
And I'm not harsh compared to what some other people would give this map...
Problems:
1. The path is really awkward, no living architect, would lay the
roads (according to the buildings) that way.
2. "- points" for the tile errors
3. The border will get screwed up.
4. Yo have to learn how to make different kind
of houses, except for the window and size, all houses looks
exactly the same T_T...
5. Almost completely square map = I vomit... *Uaeeh....*
Try to improve this and post your new map, and hope to get a
better rating then.

2. If IRL that river would flow down the mountain like
a waterfall instead of floating, like 40cm, from the crest...
3. WTF?! Who the heck would build a fence right through a road? xD
4. Why would the citizens of this town use a cave to get out of the town, when they
can make a permanent road by cutting down like 1 tree? It make no sense.
But othervise, an accaptable map.

Nice map, 8/10
Why? Well for one thing the grass placement could be a BIT better.
The mountains are good, but could be a bit more sophisticated giving it a more natural feel.
Tree placement is good, except some of the tress to the right of the second entrance look a bit wierd.

Okay, I outdid myself on this map. I did this for 5 hours, and over 160 block edits were done. (I know this because the tileset completely filled up after I expanded it)
Now, it's named Route 601, and will be appearing in Distant, meaning it is NOT up for grabs.
I give major credits to Alistair, because I only used HIS tiles in this map.

Okay, I outdid myself on this map. I did this for 5 hours, and over 160 block edits were done. (I know this because the tileset completely filled up after I expanded it)
Now, it's named Route 601, and will be appearing in Distant, meaning it is NOT up for grabs.

This is the first REAL town in my game, Pokemon Lavender. Well, when you go to the Pokemon world anyhow. It's on a peninsula, and it's so small, that roads aren't exactly needed.

Well, it's definitely an improvement. However, I still see some errors although all of them are places where you should have shading but you don't. For example, above the red house there's an errors on the bottom third of the tree. On the right side of the map, when you use the small trees directly underneath the big trees, there's an error in the shading of the big tree. That also occurs directly to the left of northern purple house. I'm not really in a position to make an image showing them so you'll just have to go off of my descriptions.

Well in his tutorial I noticed that he has one half shaded but he leaves the other half un-shaded. I think that's an error as you usually have either both or neither of the halves shaded. I would reccomend looking at some of the original maps from FR/LG as they would be the most correct.

Great Tree Placement, it looks to have major details put into it, on top of that it looks to have great playability!! Probably one of the best Routes I've seen from you.. from a 1 to 10, it's a certified 20! Since I pretty much can't do that... 10/10..
