Hey Guys, Made a new map!
Map Name: Ranish Hilltop
Game: N/A, although may be in my hack, Duskrise.
Base ROM: Fire Red
Credits: Me - Tiles, Kyledove - Tiles, Alistair - Tiles
Mapping Time: Around 1:30

Comments: This is by-far, the best map I've seen in the past week or so. :D
I love the mountain-like route, the paths are used nicely, and the grass is placed perfectly. Perfect amount of vegetation, and, well..that's it :P

Errors: No tile errors, just mountain errors, and a ledge. :P
Suggestions: The mountain shape is a little weird to me, and that ledge at the top..does it have a purpose? :\
Comments: I like the way you made it so you have to surf and waterfall to get to the top. :)
I also like the bottom maze. ;)

Reason, The fence at the south is pointless. The waterfall isn't properly done, and the mountain is the same shape throughout basically the whole map. Other than that, great job.
thanks for everyones comments. I will improve it but does someone know how to improve the mountains on the south?
Use the right tiles, and see how other maps have that part done.

Very interesting map, I like the way the river crosses the map. One thing though, the bottom group of trees look a little to uniformly placed. Just a suggestion, but I'd overlap a couple more of those trees.

I won't judge on quality, seeing as how these are remakes. I'll judge by accuracy.
Littleroot: 8/10 (Some stuff is off, and the lab looks funky)
Route whatever: 10/10 Looks perfect
Oldale: 7/10 You're missing a house
Route whatever 2: 6.5/10, the right side is completely off, while the left side is dead on.

Reason: Great map, but it seems everything is a little too tidy. The waterfalls are wrong, and also the edges are wrong. There are tile errors on the lower water where the cliffs are, and the cliffs are all too even.

Suggestions: Make the mountains follow a more mountainous path, not so straight. Put less rocks in. Fill up empty space. Make the river less straight. Put some wild Poke Grass in.

It's nice but I don't like the outer trees theyre so round XD and the placing of the little trees isn't really nice but not looking to the graphics I only see the little trees as a fault so I give it an 6.3/10

1st one the grass doesn't look naturally it's too "made" and the trees are in a somehow military order like theyre not random enough nothing elso to complain about,, rating 6.3/10
2nd one I actually like this one (except for the tile error in the standard house (the big one)) Nice placing of the trees only a little dull but nothing really to complain about XD so I give it an 8.4/10

Just rating the route, as I've rated the town already.
Suggestions: Make it less symmetrical. Fill up some empty space. Remove some wild grass. Make the path less straight. make it less symmetrical.

It's interesting Wind, but all in all it's rather pointless. The actual route part is very short, and the maze doesn't work out well. If you edit it to create a more maze like structure where there are multiple routes it would work much better.

Woaah :P There's way too much trees and too little space, but it isn't blockish XD But it's so unclear... But the mapping is pretty good I'll give it an 6.7/10 :)

Alright I don't really like the shape of the island it's too blocky and the grass in a city isn't such a good idea to but the grass in the bottom is a nice touch :) Placing of the trees is pretty good but the trees in the upper right are to blocky you should pick out some trees to remove so it get's a few little open spaces that makes it more natural :) But eighter way I like it in a weird kinda way I'll give it an 6.2/10 ooh almost forgot I don't really like the flowers theyre too placed don't know how to say it,,,

comments You had good intensions(I love going through mazes) but it didn't quite come out. I like how you are forced to work through the path. You need more deadends and new tiles.

It is unknown to man(except for you and bug catchers), which is why there aren't any signs anywhere.

Good tiles, good intension, butyou need to do more with them.There are to many empty spaces. Just my opinion, but I don't like how kekledoves tiles are all blending since there all basicly light green. I like a variaty of colors.

Ewwww, that map is gross (but the tiles get an A+).
Rating: 3/10
Reasons: The map is very linear...the trees are placed very unnaturally too. The lake should have a bit more of a unique shape to it also, to make it look better. Same goes to mountains, give 'em more shaping up. Lastly, that tree on top of the mountain just dissapears...only its top is showing...
Oh yea, lastly, YOU NEED TO GIVE CREDIT FOR THE ROM BASE!

Pretty good like the palettes (can't rate on that :P)
Alright it's to blocky you hae to make it more realistic more natural it's all so blovky but the way you made it to go trough you force them to use the whole map that is nice :) further noting so i'll rate it an 6/10

There are some tile errors in the house and the lab the house its the door is on the wrong side and the lab has a wrong window tile,, but without that it would be an great map i'll rate it 8.3/10 :) rating with the faults it would be an 6.3 cause I really hate little tile mistakes that are so obvious..

not really it looks fine to me....and it doesnt really look like the tree behind is over lapping the one in front its just the way i edited the tile, it makes it so the left side of the top of the tree covers the right side of the trunk and vice versa.

Looks nice ;) But the tree sin the upper right are a little to blocky and a little too much grass but it's good further no critism ooh wait one thing to say the bottom is nicer then the top (A):P I'll rate it an 7.3/10 if the top was like the bottom it would be much better :) (I don't mean exactly but I think you understand that ;))
Ooh btw it looks sad how there are so little flowers they look sad standing all alone XD

It's a bit empty, the grass could be replace with a small tree, overall not bad just lacking vegetation, 7.3/10

If I mapped for my new hack, I would've mentioned it. xD
Though, I didn't want to add too much vegetation, because it might be over-crowed. xD

Ok, a new map! Route 1...

Comments: Looks really good, the small hill, albeit unnecessary, definitely adds something to the map. The shape of the map is good as well. The random placement of trees might be awkward for people playing it. Whats with the random grass placement? Grass grows in clumps doesn't it? The ledges don't really have a purpose.
Suggestions: Arrange the grass in clumps. Make a path where there is no grass so that the ledges have a reason for being there. Re arrange the trees.

Reasons: Its decent. Some rather nice paths. Interesting shape but way too empty. The houses have roofs that are too big. Nice shape of the beach though.
Suggestions: Fix the tile errors, add more trees, fix house shape, use a combination of ground tiles make the land bit a bigger.

Reasons: Looks really nice, Wind~. The different levels are arranged really nicely. The path looks a little weird though, why is there grass in the town? Bad use of bushes and small trees.
Suggestions: Don't really have any except fixing the stuff in the reasons.

Reasons: That would be a pain to play through. Why not make the grass grow in clumps? Would look a lot better imo. Always try to use more than one stair horizontally, if you only have one it looks weird. The cave on top of the mountain is too small.
Suggestions: Once again just fix up the reasons. Maybe make a bit more space to walk around in as well.

Looks nice.. Only a few tile errors at the water edge the rocks are the wrong ones but I really like it :) I rate it an 9.2/10

The trees are too blocky and a bit a waste of not using the whole map but the way you made it to go trough is pretty nice I rate this an 7.8/10

Reason: Although this is probably your best map, there is far too many tile errors. The shape of the cliff needs more "funk" and has tile errors going all across the water. Which is a incredibly easy fix (use a block edit). The house soley on the beach has a tile error (bottom left.) There is no point in the fence on the lower level. There is alot of empty space, and not enough flowers. Everything seems too evenly lined up. But this is still your best map :P

Reason: I don't see any tile errors, so that is good. But you will be able to see the cliffs going into the border on the right. I believe the vegitation is a little too full. (Don't listen to Xray :P) Maybe 2 less flowers, and 4 less bushes would work. Great work though.
WAIT: Do my eyes deceive me? 2 of your flowers have different shapes then the others. Hah, that is a great subtle addition.

You placed the paths in a great way.
There are many empty spaces.

Switch around some trees for different ones instead of using the same tree over and over for the boarder. Also, add more trees in the middle, and maybe less flowers on the bottom.

You should put some trees behind the lab and maybe some kids running on the beach, so you'll fill the free space. Oh, yeah, and the houses on the beach should be placed differently. Everything else is fine.

Map 1 Comments: 8.3/10 It's a great map all the tiles are perfect.
Map 1 Suggestions: The Thicker patches of grass placed randomly around the lower are are unnecessary. Also the little 3 bush tile behind the small house could be removed.And a sign in front of the lab thingwouldn't hurtMap 2 Comments: 8.5/10 I'm a little confuzzled about the conections. I see all these open areas, but do they really all lead out of the forest?
Map 2 Suggestions:Hmm... Only thing would be the open areas and pick a different type of trees. I don't remember the last time a saw a willow forest.
Map 3 Comments:10/10.Wonderful. It's perfecly laid out with the size and shape. The peath connects perfecly and the way routes could just pop onto there is perfect.
Map 3 Suggestions:Maybe make it A bit less crammed. If you were to add people too it, they would almost block the path at some points.
Map 4 Comments: 7/10. The cliffs that you can jump off of messes with my eyes. The ground I can't tell is it going up? staying the same? It's a good map, but theres room for improvment.
Map 4 Suggestions:Remove some of the cliffs you can jump off of.also I wouldn't like playing in this map. make it smaller or add little caves and secret hard-to-find spots that may have items..
Map 5 Comments:7/10. The darkness looks bad with the bright tiles like the lab and the flowers. The house placement is a bit crummy too. YOUR worst map. Not THE worst map, but yours.
Map 5 Suggestions: Move the hoses around. Change the tileset so either it's all dark, or all bright. If it's supposed to be night time, make the buildings dark and make the windows look lit up.

Is that the right way to use waterfalls? They look kinda weird.
The shape of the mountains, river, trees are all awesome and the way you placed Pokecenters, Pokemarts, labs and lecture rooms was great!
Suggestions? Well, try to use the same form of waterfall cos at the top, there are two waterfalls alongside each other. They're the same height but they look different. To each other AND to other waterfalls.
Oh, and Disturbed, don't fret that people are skipping you.

A really great map,
The only things I notice is that it looks a little unnatural at some
spots, like; The "lake" have a little too "perfect" size.
And those 3 small trees doesn't make sense.
Othervise it's a really great map
(Kinda reminds me of Route 102 though xP)

I'm open to any constructive criticsm. And regarding that description, I couldn't resist and let my imagination work. This is the result :P
Am I missing something? I'm just not seeing what everyone else is.
I've never seen a lake/pond thing that is totally square.
What's with the three random skinny trees. There better off just being removed.
The ledge on the right serves no purpose.
Also look through maps in normal games. Every map has flowers of some kind unless it's a dirt road where flowers would be unrealistic.
The trees on the bottom look nice, but the trees along the top need some rearranging.
And that little sand path in the middle is bugging me. I've just not sure why.
It really just seems quite plain to me.

I don't know what to think of this map. It's totally symmetrical, but it's symmetry looks perfectly fitting for the tiles.
So if this were in normal everyday Fire Red tiles I'd be looking for a lot of variation, so I'll stick with that.

Try not to make the mountains so sqaure and use a little more creativity with the trees, dont make them look so un-natural. I dont like the fence trees on the right near the water, but i do like the shape of the water.

Sorry to add to the growing number of posts without ratings. I've recently felt like my mapping skills have been declining, every map I make seems really ugly to me.

Description: Second to last Gym Leader. Home to the CEO of Uriel Enterprises. The paths really annoy me but I don't know what I should do about them. Those two joined buildings will be replaced by the Game Corner.

Wind I dont like the tiles, they just look to jumbuled, its hard to tell the difference between the trees and grass.

Map 1: I get what your saying about the path it doesnt seem to fit the town, maybe make it a grass path or make it not as bulky, I dont like how sqaure the trees and mountain is and the dirt path on the left is ugly to.

It's not empty, which is good. I just don't like it because of the house in the middle of a route with tall grass and the path on the right of the house. But it's still good. 7.5/10

you dont have to remove it just make it better. its way to square and it looks to plain, give the trees some shape and place the houses better.
maybe you should brush up on your mapping before you start a hack.

You need a better border to get through this map unglitched. The door goes on the left side of the house too, not the right, thats why you are doing it wrong every time.

... Don't get me started... Whats wrong with grass or beachline? Pokemon Center glitched up, though you couldn't retile, so I'll let that past...
4/10... I'm sorry, but Why not use a different tileset altogether. Well, all you really need is a connection from land into sea. Look at other maps to get the hang of good maps, especially when the land connects to water, then try again.

hmm.. The palletes scare me a bit, but lemme concentrate on the map..
The mountains are too symmetrical.. Try to start making your mountains more "Squiggly".. Kind of like when someones first learning cursive :p
I personally thing mountains look better like that, overall 7.2/10

It seems a bit empty, to be perfectly honest. The shape is good, and I like the tiles. I'd give it a 6/10, because it's empty.

OK, thanx for the tip. I only wanted to improve my skills, the problem here is my creativity. But I've seen many maps from this thread, some are awful for me, I mean, flowers everywere and that stuff. But some of them are too simple but, weirdly, I consider them really cool: simple but marvelous (especially the ones that have DPP's tiles).
And I say this again: I already asked Zel for these tiles... also only the trees and some flowers are the same, the pokécenter too (for both pokecenter and pokémart). But not all of them, I don't consider necessary to have every tile. The grass pallettes, dirt green paths and the yellow ones are from a picture that Kyledove (Kymotonian) made.

Not a bad map, in all! Because it's a city, I won't mark you down for the straight placement of houses. It looks a lot like a normal city...pretty good! I don't really have any more comments, except, seeing as you're going for the realistic city with the straight houses, make the trees more square at the bottom, it's likely people cleared them a bit. I guess that thing in the corner is a park? If so, make the grass either less random or completely nonexistant.

Hrmmm... I say 5/10
The Mountain is too... triangular, and symmetrical.
You can see the border on the left from the stairs, and those 3 random planter boxes that are arranged perfectly diagonal scare me. Like they scream, "RAWR!" in my face, makes me cry.
Finally, I don't like the shape of the sand from exiting the town. It is a but too square for my tastes.
Other than that, It is a nice map. :D

map two is not bad but you need to put more grass, i can get through that without going through any grass.
6/10 without the grass 8/10 with the grass.

Add different trees besides the same border ones throughout the map. Give the cliff more amazement, more rocks couldn't hurt either.

Well, pretty good map but I can notice some tile errors on the mountain and also in the waterfall.
Also it is a little square and the paths' shapes are disturbing, and the palettes... are too light...

Hmm I can't see any real errors in the map but yet again I'm pretty sure that the house behind the Gym has a door. Also what about flowers? I mean the map is really well done but there are no flowers...
I'm gonna give it a overall rating of 7/10

-*Sigh* another G/S/C remake... because if it is, I hope there will be some form of an original storyline to it.
-Are you planning to use custom tilesets or just sticking with FR/LG. But I see in this City you have placed some different types of houses and the R/S/E Gym, Pokemon Center and Mart.
Decorations (Flowers) = 2/10
-Not a flower in site! I would strongly recommend placing some on the plain patches of grass and around some buildings.
Layout= 5/10
-G/S/C in LG... It is more of a Revamp of Ecruteak City... But it looks to scale too.
This is what i think of it but still it doesn't mean you have to stop map editing.

Being the competitive person that I am (seeing a map of the week thread open) I'm gonna go for it :D
Comments: This is a requested academy, therefore the owner had permission to use the tiles, and he told me to make this map. This map has everything I wanted it to have, (yes, the waterfall is not right, but is in my intention to have it like this, because these tiles make it look 10x better) also: there is a reason for everything. Trust me. (including the empty space on the beach, and every secret exit).

It's on LG...So why did you change the Gym, PC and PM? They looked better in LG graphics. The mountains, yeah, they look better, but the houses, no. I'd say the grass too should be changed. Oh, the houses look a bit out of proportion. :\

It's definitely a good remap but...not so much of a good map overall. Not saying Nintendo's way of mapping is bad, but this feels a lot more crammed and flowerless than the old Ecruteak. Dunno, it's not bad but...It feels like there's something missing. Like the fact that Ecruteak isn't meant to be in Adv. Gen games... Oh, and the tree shading is wrong. Well, there's no tree shading.

I found the bottom part with the sand really ugly, dunno about you...Oh, and the mountains up the top took me nearly 15 minutes to do. >.< And anyone playing this won't even go there. xD Also, the bottom part is man-made from the steps down, so it's sort of meant to be squarish.

Well, it's sorta hard to make the bottom mountains less empty...I dunno, I just find it hard :\
Well, to keep this ontopic, I gve your map an 8/10.
As Disturbed said, the tree's aren't meant to be on top of the rock like -that-.
Other than that, I like the shape of the mountains and...yeah. The paths look nice, although the irregularity of the stairs will be annoying.
Oh, there shouldn't be grass in towns, but that's just me.

It was supposed to be simple. And the tiles shouldn't count for the rating. It does look more town like, so i'll fix that. And i don't think you rated the routes.By the way, its supposed to be like that to prevent the player from screwing up the border. I didn't like the idea of rocks covering the exit when a boat is supposed to cross through that.
I also planned on moving the mart, but i was lazy.

Too heavy on the green in al of the plants, trees, and what not. I like the positioning of it all though. The blue in the water looks more like a painting rather than water/a pond. Both get 6/10's :D
*EDIT* @Inferno- Don't the tiles make the map? Really, I would change the waterfall.

(Btw. please don't remake this map in one other hack (thnx for understanding ^^)

Commants: A great new map with some awesome new tiles ^^ (You people already know from who thise tiles are right?) Yeah the Auroros ones were made in a hurry so I understand that part. Riverveil isn;t really that bad though. And shone province I actually went back and filler it in before making anything else. Quadrona was one that I made in about 1 hour :D I haven't went back to work on it yet probably because of my time that I haven;t had.

It is as big as pallet town, and is the starter town. And how is it plain? Because I used normal FR tiles?

Hmm... I guess it's not a great map, I think it is a map.
It is kinda square... The mountains form is like too symetrical and how are you suposed to enter to a cave and then exit and have surf, unless you do a script...
Bad use of paths, and not many flowers and the grass there are only 4 tiles with it.
There are many tile errors...
The ship is supposed to go thru the cave, or what?
Hmmm...
Good try, but try improving it a little bit more...

As Wind~ said, it's pretty bland and really really empty. No offence, but it's bad. Sorry, but I don't even really know how to start to fix it... x.x
Encase it in a border and make a path...or just restart completely and choose a different map size, as well as a new tileset. DP is absolutely horrendous in my eyes.
Also, that mountain looks kinda pointless and...well, there's hardly anything, really. Sorry if I sound harsh.
You know, you should just try and map like RSE or the Sevii Islands until you start to develop your own style.

The Lugia CAN actually be challenged and fought just like in Navel Rock and like any other legendary, it will run if you kill it. Originally designed as a shrine for Suicune. The lines means connect the entrance with the place it goes to.

Alright...
First always take screen when grid is off! (if you don't know how ctrl + G) Ooh and try to save it as .png ;) looks nicer.
Now my comment:
Alright you should try to make some path's and make an good border, also try not randomly place a tree here and there it makes it look very empty because if you place only 1 tree in a open spot it makes it look sad, lolz, try to make it atleast 2 or if you want to place one make it next to something :)
Now about the mountain, well try to make it more "curvy" with that I mean that you should make the edge more less straight XD But I don't know why you put such a big mountain in the map it takes a to big surface.. That's all I think...
My rating: NONE I want to rate it when you make an revision of it and change all the map with the comments given by people :) Well BOL ;)

Reason: The shape is great! But you have too much empty space in this map. If you want to do tree shadows, you gotta do 'em right, or else just don't do them at all.

I revived the Pokémon Copper hack I started about a year ago. And now I'm redoing it from scratch.
Now I don't really care about the rating but, I really want to know if there are any mapping errors. I know there is a tiny land/sea border thing under the bridge but I (sorta) re-did it for now.
This is your starter town, and I know the only wat to get out is to surf but did not say anything with the starter Pokémon you're going to get. :D By the way, that is not a gym-its the lab. And that house, its an apartment of you and your rival's. It is t-storming so thats why there a puddles.

Hmm it has some mapping errors like the wooden walk thing the connection between that and the land isn't good.. the border of the sand and the water on the left and right is wrong... but besides that it is an reasanoble map (dunno if I spelled it right XD)

and what are those orange things? they look weird on the grey tiles...
try to fill up the big grey path maybe make a little green hole in it and put some flowers ther makes it look more filled :)

because it is too open, too empty, the big rocks don't really look good in the shallow water and there is tile errors. But over all it is a fairly good map. :)
How to make it better: Fill the empty spaces and fix the tile errors.

REASON: It's nice. The rock building must be holding something secret for the time being, which adds a little bit of 'mysterious' feel on that rock. :P
COMMENT: the white tile is actually cement, though.., and flowers are growing on cements...? :\

OK first off I hate those tiles the palettes destroy my eyes!
But I'm not gonna rate the map on those tiles.
How come their is a waterfall for such a small amount of water?
Wouldn't the top just empty out?
And there is no visible land route out of this place. :/
BUt I suppose their could be an underground tunnels from one of the houses.

Reason: Kyle, I think you are just being lazy now. Sorry if I sound mean, but look outside, it isn't the same tree over and over again. So you might want to get onto the block edittor, and with all those border trees, lose half of them and add a diversity of trees.

Reason: The only thing I like about this map, is honestly, the shape of the rock. The overall shape of this map is square, the diversity of trees is horrid around the border, the waterfall is all one big tile error (see cape brink) and there is no exit. Yeah, I'm downgrading you for no exit, because if their was an underground tunnel, you would need to mention that. I deeply apologize, but this map needs ALOT of work.

Reason: well, I think that this is your best map, but looking at it, I counted around 24 tile errors. The shape of the rock could use some improvement too.

Errors: Well, the mountain shape is odd, too symmetrical, it's also very empty. The houses at the bottom with no windows and/or doors disturbs me a little. There are a couple empty spots on the grass too.
Suggestions: Fill in the empty spots, and fix up the shape of the mountain.
Comments: I love how you blended the trees with the street tiles, as well as the rocks with the street, looks very nice!

All the colors make it hard for m eyes to concentrate on the map XD lolz
It looks pretty nice but The little puddles annoy me theyre a bit unnececary and they are too dark if you look at the other tiles there is much grass and some big open spots.. But everything seems to be placed very thoughtfull My rating: 7.9/10

T's map: 7.3/10 because;
Looks too square, small tree's don't look good in a straight line and stairs look wierd.
Suggestions: fix the shape and mix in some big trees with the small trees.
Also your map is really hard to see.
Thanks for the comments on my second town/city I have tried to fix it. I think it is a lot better than before.

@ dratii: That looks good. Big, nice and simple. I only spot one error, and it's with the PokeCenter roof. Also you didn't do custom tiles, which I like.

About your map, it is good. I don't like the two cave entrances near each other.
The mountain around the gym is disturbing, and you pt too much flower.
There's a tile error on the very right of the map. The tree is missing. It supposed to be attached to the mountain.

The first map, Babeil City, looks pretty good.
The house placement is nice as well as the road placement, but to me that really looks like Veilstone City. :\ I think it's just me. Other than that, the trees are a little square, but that's to be expected near a city.

That's an amazing map. No tile errors, the trees are well placed, and mostly I love how you did the path. Only add some small trees or normal trees on the upper left of the map.

I recreated the palletes for the snow to make it brighter, and I have recreated the ground road into a snowish, and I have added a snow bush, and a snowish long bush thing.

Are you talking serious about this map ?
It's not New bark Town.
There's not a single fence in the original map, and this is just the first mistake.
-No windows in the small houses,
-The roofs should be green
-Just 2 flowers
-What about the headbuttable trees ?
-There isn't that place behind the player's house
-You mixed Hoenn's ground (dark green) with Kanto's ground (light green).
-The light green ground should be on the left side of the lab, around the sign, and behind the right small house.
Just a tip: Go to Google images, search for New Bark Town, and LOOK at the original one to do your map.
