im stuck on a moveset for mewtwo....

Mewtwo
Jolly Nature (...wonder why this is?)
Swift (**** move)
Recover(keeping this)
Barrier(old move from two island)
Pyschic(definite)

swift's a crap move and im not sure of barrier since it raises def but i dunno if its good.

Since it's jolly:

- Bulk Up
- Shadow Ball
- Brick Break / Earthquake / Recover
- Psychic / Thunderbolt / Flamethrower / Ice Beam / Substitute / Recover

wats the status effect for Jolly ?

no status effect, it just lowers SpAtk by 10% and raises Spd by 10%

so physical attacks would be better?

Well, since Mewtwo's base SAtk is so high, that 10% deduction from a Jolly Nature does hurt. For example, a Modest Mewtwo has a max SAtk (31 SAtk IVs and 252 SAtk EVs) of 447. Your Jolly Mewtwo has a max SAtk of 366.

That said, even a Jolly Mewtwo has almost the same max SAtk Timid Alakazam (Timid is standard). Alakazam has a max SAtk of 369. So the bottom line is that even though your Mewtwo doesn't have a god-like SAtk, it is still higher than if you maxed out its Atk (319).

Basically you got screwed with a bad nature.

Indeed he did...The best you can do is give him a moveset for it
I suggest:

Mewtwo-Jolly
Psychic
Shadow Ball
Recover
Earthquake/Thunder/Thunderbolt/Ice Beam/Flamethrower/Brick Break/Substitute

Pssst. The he is really a she. I guess I couldn't have been bothered with a moveset, being so distraught by the nature.

Mewtwo @ Leftovers
Trait: Pressure
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Spd / 252 SAtk
Jolly *sigh* Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Calm Mind
- Psychic
- Recover
- Thunderbolt / Flamethrower / Ice Beam

Despite the crappy nature, a Calm Mind will help cover that right quick. The last slot is up to your preference. Basically use whichever you think will be most effective. Personally, as Synch's moveset revealed, don't use physical moves (i.e. Shadow Ball) on Mewtwo unless you are boosting its Atk (i.e. Bulk Up). Mewtwo can do more damage to a Ghost-type with a STAB Psychic than it can with a "Super Effective" Shadow Ball.

Just pointing out if you plan on using this mewtwo in D/P, Shadow Ball becomes a Special move, so it is a good move choice if you want to kill some ghostys.

arrgh, shut up with the d/p.
i regret having bought a GBA *my pocket money**sob**and not an NDS with emerald being the last installment for the GBA.
i dont give a damn about d/p, so shut up about d/p.

anyways, i caught the Jolly mewtwo with 12 ultra balls. so the low sp attack is rlly a pain. i rely on attack and sp attack.
is shadow ball rlly that good/bad?
i cant replace with calm mind since i used it on suicune...
rest is useless due to its crap defence stats.
ice beam i used on suicune as well
thunderbolt i used on Zapdos *waste of money*
flamethrower might work, but ive got to waste money again *sob*
the best option might be earthquake as poketrainer2004 said.

Sorry, but Ice Beam/Thunderbolt/Flamethrower are anything but a waste of money. Equip a high level Poke with Amulet Coin and then Fly to Resort Gorgeous (north of Five Island) and battle Lady Jackie and Lady Gillian. After the two battles, you will have earned $39,600. You cannot earn jack any faster. Now run around the island three times and use the Vs. Seeker. Guess what? Another 40k awaits you. A few times and you have enough fundage to purchase a few of each TM.

As for a physical move on Mewtwo, as I said before a STAB Psychic will do just as much damage as a "Super Effective" Earthquake on Ampharos or Shadow Ball on a Dusclops. Add the fact that you can use Calm Mind and there is no contest. Mewtwo is that incredibly cheap. Use Alakazam instead.

BTW - Just say NO to Diamond/Pearl. Hmmmm. I don't like signatures or friend lists, but that just might merit some consideration.

wat's STAB anyways?
such a shame mewtwo isn't on my ruby, iv got too much money for my own good there.
and are u meaning that i should put earthquake on mewtwo?

STAB = Same Type Attack Bonus

That means a Psychic used by a Psychic-type while increase its Attack Power by 1.5x. That means the normal 90 AP attack now becomes 135 AP.

NO. Do not waste Earthquake on Mewtwo. As I said before, Mewtwo can do just as much damage with Psychic as it can with Earthquake against a Poke that is weak to Ground moves. That doesn't even account for the fact that Mewtwo can use Calm Mind to increase its SAtk, making it do even more damage than Earthquake could.

BTW - If you follow my method, you will have $999,999 in a matter of minutes.

Recover
flamethrower/ice beam/thunderbolt

Suicune learns it by leveling up, so you just wasted it...

Actually, with a crappy nature and no Calm Mind, the first person that replied to your thread has that covered:
Since it's jolly:

- Bulk Up
- Shadow Ball
- Brick Break / Earthquake / Recover
- Psychic / Thunderbolt / Flamethrower / Ice Beam / Substitute / Recover

Everything past Synch's post has become ironically insignificant.

Suicune learns it by leveling up, so you just wasted it...

wat lvl does it learn it at?
would barrier or reflect help to make up for calm mind or something else then?

errr... barrier raises ...dunno.. i think i meant light screen, it raises sp def

You can't really do anything to make up for the fact that you wasted the Calm Mind TM on Cune. >_>

Psssssssssst. Take Synch's suggestion. Either that or start your game over and get a decent Mewtwo this time (and don't waste Calm Mind on Suicune).

id rather take synch's suggestion then... i rllly dont want to play the game over again.
