I'll might use it on either a Latios/Latias or a shiny legendary Pokemon

Not use it at all. If we're discussing the matters of R/S/E, then I would rather catch every legendary that I'm capable of obtaining with an ultra ball, at the most.

I would use the master ball to catch a legendary

I used it to catch Latias on sapphire, I have caught Rayquayza with 3 ultra balls, 1 for Groudon on a freinds Ruby, 2 net balls for Kyogre, I cant catch the Regis though.
Well we're on the topic can anyone help me with that?

I always "save" the masterball which means I never end up using it, I suppose I would only use if it I had found a shiny orsomething which flees or I was out of balls.

I usually save my Master Ball for Lati@s. Or, I trade one from other games and use it on Rayquaza since its level is so high (this is for Emerald) when I first encounter it. Groduon and Kyogre and the Regindaries can all be caught with other Balls. I'd recommend a Net Ball on Kyogre, and possibly Timer Balls on the rest, assuming your battle with them has taken a LOT of turns. Hope this helps. :P

i would never use a masterball on latios/latias(that seems like too much)...i would use it on Rayquaza or one with a very high level, so i wont spend all day trying to catch it with a timer/ultra ball...

i'll never use my master ball at ALL but then if its a legendary shiny and at really high lvl...i'll use it

Use it on a Pokémon that is hard to catch, rare or shiny.
