Ok, we all know it's an awesome flying type move, that functions like recover, but going on bulbapedia, I was shocked to read something on the Did you know? section...
Roost is a move that restores 50% of a pokemon's health and temporarily removes the flying-type advantages/weaknesses for one turn
Am I the only one who never noticed this while playing through D/P?

I noticed. It makes sense too, since birds land when they roost.

yeah i noticed it on togekiss.
completely awesome because it was followed by rock slide, which did normal damage, which is even more awesome cus Togekiss is awesome.
moral of the story: Togekiss ftw (for the win)

Wow Myzou I haven't noticed that you rock when it comes to finding things that make sense, I'm going to see this, especially your other thread with training by your self. Come to think of it it does make sense

I can't really answer the question of whether or not I knew about Roost's special ability since I never heard of the attack Roost ._.;
But wouldn't that mean that Flying-types could be hit with Ground-type attacks that one turn?

Yes, but I don't believe any flying type have a sub type that is weak towards ground anyways...

I never really thought about it =P cause some birds roost on high mountain cliffs =P

Aerodactyl, Skarmory, Zapdos, Moltres, Charizard, Zubat, Golbat, & Crobat.
Anyway, if this little tidbit is true...this could actually make Gyarados really useful...if it could learn Roost, that is. I guess this is a good reason why we've never had a pure Flying-type...
*imagines what would happen if flying-type Arceus used Roost*

There's probably some sort of failsafe that keeps flying-type Arceus from using Roost (not sure if it can learn the TM). Now Venomoth can learn Roost, but it's not flying...

Indeed, that failsafe being it CAN'T.
