Complaint about Pikachu

Now to start this off, I absolutely love Pikachu. I think it benefits the franchise 100%, is adorable, and it's my favorite Pokemon in my team.

But I can't, for the love of Pete, handle training mine for very long because it's defense is so incredibly low. Everytime it levels up, it's speed goes up 3-5, it's attack does the same, and the defesce goes up 1. I can get in a fight with a water Pokemon, and it takes away half of his energy in one hit..with a water move all the same!

Does anyone else have this problem? I've been giving him a lot of Iron, but it gets really tiring and it's eating up all of my money.

no I dont have this problem. I dont use Pikachu at all. I just like Earthquaking them away :D

if you have good speed, and you're fighting a water pokemon, you shouldn't have much trouble OHKO'ing it anyway.
yeah pikachu has low defense...but he's not THAT hard to train

Maybe your Pikachu has a nature that lowers its defense.

i just evo. it and have a better pokemon. I always check the stats before training it. I had 13 pikachus and dumped 12 of them. I found one I liked the best it had the best stats and then my nephew restarted the game... at least he can't do that to my Diamond version.

Usually if you haven't noticed, almost all electric types have pretty bad defense.

Try Specificlly EV Training its' Defence, Also there's not much point in a Pikachu with High Attack as Most of its Attacks come from Specal Attack.

Pikachu's Max Def w/a beneficial nature = 174 >_>
Good Pikachu Moveset:
Thunderbolt, Thunderwave, Attract, & Surf/HP Ice/Encore
Thunderwave + Attract = A major annoyance for opposing Pokemon & allows Pikachu to be used to it's full potential. Encore can be used to stall. Overall... Pikachu just stinks in Def, so good luck with Pika!

All of its stats are low. Its speed barely caps over 300. That's why they gave it the Light Ball: to double its abysmal special attack and give the anime-sycophants just cause to use it. You'd have to fully EV train it to make it of use.

It's just horribly defesnively. My'n was confused and it took out 70% of its HP because it hurt itself. Ash has an uber Pika.

well, basically in Ruby/Sapphire and Emerald,pikachu is rubbish,
hes strongest atack is thunderbolt and only 95 power,get someone like manectric to use thunder and its speedy
