I seen a shiny in May and caught it by using a Timer Ball. The shiny was a level 56 Skarmory, it is now level 64/65 I am not 100% sure.

Just have to evolve some Pokemon and such. Also, if you have 493 I really wouldn't suggest posting that because that means you hacked or traded with a hacker, which questions the viability of your other pokemon. 490 should be the highest right now.

Fabbles, the only reason I have those three is 'cos I traded with others for them and then traded back ;) I have never owned any of those Pokémon myself and would never dream of hacking them or any other Pokémon. All the ones I have owned are totally legit. ^^ So I don't see a problem with it. :P

If you ever try to enter any Nintendo event, they will see you have had hacked pokemon in your possession and not allow you to enter. Ohh, and if those three are in your Pokedex, you have "owned" them. They aren't "semi" owned or any other stupid thing like people make it out to be.

I will wait for the three to be released legitimately to the public, as true pokemon fans do.

No, that's not true at all. Even if it was, every single game would probably be "marked" as well due to hackers on the GTS (including yours. Don't dare try to deny it). I'm not even going to bother with the rest of your post...

I don't know where you heard that from but games are not "marked" if you have traded with someone who hacked the Pokémon (and the people I traded with didn't actually hack them, they got them in turn from other people, but that's not really the point). As the previous poster pointed out, if that were true, loads of people's games would be "marked" from trading on the GTS.

And I don't like your use of "true" fan - as far as I am concerned, nobody has any right to deny anyone else from being a "true" fan. Everyone brings their own things to the fandom. I have been a Pokémon fan since it first came out here in the UK, have owned most of the games, trained lots of Pokémon to lv100 (all legitimately) and have been to Nintendo events to get the Pokémon I can get. I draw artwork frequently of the Pokémon, have always supported the series and have never used AR/GameShark. As far as I am concerned, the use of "true fan" is elitist and doesn't serve any purpose but to fragment, not unite, the fandom.

But I don't mean to turn this into an argument. You have a lot of Pokémon in your Dex and for that you should be proud. :) Just don't look down on others just because they want the full Dex, and let everybody be happy with what they have. ;)

Well, I do agree I went a little too far by using true, I was going more along the lines of something like "people who have never hacked and are proud of what they have done." I saw what I posted earlier on a another popular forum by a mod, so I am just letting people know that it could happen.

And technically, you do have the "full" dex right now, so I don't see why you just can't wait like everyone else instead of "cheating" for it.

Edit: Trading for the hacked pokemon is still the same as hacking them yourself. So if I hacked all of my pokemon, would you see it as cheating?

With the rate of Nintendo events coming to the UK, that would be years and years from now ;)

I am proud of what I've done - I'm proud of training Dragonair, Gabite, Pupitar, Shelgon and Metang all to their final forms, I'm proud of hunting all the fossil Pokémon and getting all the starters to train, I'm proud of using all four of my GBA games, tracking down the legendaries and capturing them. :) It doesn't come without effort.

I guess we just have different views on the subject - I personally don't mind trading for those last three, though I wouldn't hack Pokémon myself (though if people want to, that's their decision and I have no problem with it). I don't see it as cheating. But if you do, that's your opinion and I have to respect that. So I think we should just agree to disagree on this one!

...but this is getting off-topic, and as a mod I have to say, let's get back to the topic at hand! hehe.

I work through my Pokédex relatively slowly, because I don't like wasting evolution items on Pokémon that just sit in the box and look pretty, and I don't like using Pal Park or trading for Pokédex.

While it's totally your business what you do with your game, I do find it dumb to boast about cheating. In this case, the boasting takes the form of claiming to have a complete (493) Pokédex, which is currently impossible. I'd hardly say that such casual cheaters are disqualified as being "true fans"; they're just misinformed. ;)

Cheating only becomes a problem when interactions between players enters the picture. For example, it's wrong to rip off someone's uncloned shinies and legendaries for your cloned ones without at least letting them know what they're getting. Hacking perfect IVs and possibly inflated stats for battles also falls under this category.
