If i were to make a INI for Emerald would there be enough people wanting it for me to make it a viable project?
Feedback is required otherwise i wont bother

Do it. You shouldn't not do it just because you don't get enough feedback, there could be people looking for this sort of things weeks from now.

Yeah, you should definitely make an ini for Emerald dude. If you can successfully make a table file, it should be easy to find where the offsets for all the text is.

If you ran windows 2000 you to would understand the effort involved. Anyway here is the first release of the Advance text emerald .ini. It covers the game from the intro to the end of route 102 and everythng inbetween.
Place it in the Advance Text ini folder, DO NOT RENAME IT. that is critical otherwise it wont work

Well, how does 2000 really make a difference from XP? I'm confused. Theoretically any system that has a program that supports relative search and a hex editor would be able to do it. All you would have to do is relative search, find the text and then work on finding all the offsets and stuff.

Ok simply with all my 32mb of ram i can only just run 2000. i tried running XP and it went even slower(negative time?). So all in all i dont have enough tempory memory to store the hex data and if i were running xp it would be slower but be able to deal with the data better. so i could run xp but that would be the only thing id use it for thus wasting harddrive space and creatng even more problems in the tempory memory. plus 2000 is more stable than any of the other operating systems.. making sense?

I have the advanced text editor and the version I have (I can not remember where I got it) came with the Ruby and Saphire INIs (they just aren't complete). But my question is could someone make INIs for Red/Blue/Yellow (or could someone teach me how to).
I only ask because I can not seem to find a working text editor for R/B/Y. I have Thingy and Thingy32 and Hexpose (although Hexpose did not work on my computer) and none of them edited the text that I wanted them to. I could do this in Hex but I prefer not to have to.
PS - sorry if this is in the wrong place. I was searching for text editors and came upon this thread.

OMNIPOTENT
September 25th, 2007, 03:27 PM
yes, and in a-text case, it's a ini that save all the text offsets u registered so, if i use that ini on another rom, all text already found are registered and i don't need to search for them again
*'d like to know how the ini making is going on :)*

Good and bad thing's about Fire-red INI's:
Fire red will take very long to Hack(i been hacking for a week non-stop ind im up to pewter-city)
- Look-
You will have 1 island -to- 7 island to hack
(Read my signiture to help me with my hack..)
And look at all the cities to hack,
less sprites than Emerald BY FAR!
The most UNSTABLE Rom to hack crashed up to 10 times for me :(.
Bad things about a Emerald ini:
Willl take very long too look at Sappire and ruby fusion.
Very STABLE Rom to hack.
P.E.T (Trainer editer pokemon) program you cant use Emerald
Hardest rom to hack.
Title screen Is HARD TO EDIT.
YOU CANT PUT 3 POKEBALLS ON A TABLE KINDA THING
EVENTS ARE HARD TO CHANGE
Cannot insert diamond and pearl Tiles/Hard to find./patches hard to find.
So i'd make my mind up about hacking emerald Boys & Girls....
Now look at the good list for Fire Red:
There are more Beter Trainer Sprites to look at.
Can edit things better.
Very fun to hack
Title screen is Very easy to edit
Events are easy to hack
Easy to edit most things
Advanced Text will have what people are saying there w8in for you to edit.
Tiles are easy to edit
Diamond and pearl tiles are/Can INSERT.
And thats about it for good things on fire red Moving On now....
Good things about Emerald to hack:
Sprites (pokemon) There are About 30 Sprites(POKEMON) to choose from.
You can edit the Screen that says Continiue, Newgame.Etc
Stable, and i mean STABLE to hack
Only yhe Best Hacking Tools Are compatabe with this ROM.
Funny Trainer Sprite (also on Sapphire and Ruby) on over world EDiter
Easy To Edit Map.
So Basicly What im trying to say is:
-Hack Emerald if you are Advanced or Dumb
- Hack FIRE RED if you are Smart 'n' a Beginer (or ruby even)
-Do you see Any one Hacking emerald..........No diddent think so.
Hack Fire red Get your Reputation
Hack Emerald And Be Dumb
I SAY:
91%= HACK FIRE RED
9%= HACK EMERALD
--------------------WHAT WILL IT BE?-------------------
YOUR CHOICE. ITS ONLY ME SAYING THIS SO DO WHAT YOU WANT.....

true... But there's stuff in R/S/E that isn't in Fire Red...
