i got a mew the other day, it's in a master ball, and the trainer name is the same trainer that traded it to me. and it's english too. the "hacked list" above the trade thread is making me think it is hacked. is my scenario possible for a legit mew?

Nah, it's hacked... They can only be caught in a Japanese Emerald. :P I've heard a person can be kinda resourceful and renickname it Mew when they catch it but meh, I don't trust this but it's up to you. If you don't like it, get rid of it by releasing it... The GTS doesn't show up bad hacks anymore and won't let you trade them.

o well then i guess it's real because i was attempting to clone the other day (failed miserably) using it and it went in just fine

You can clone it or offer, it just won't show up to others so you can't get rid of it... And this only works on a few of the hacks I had like a shiny Deoxys. >_>
The Mew is probably fine if the item was hacked to go to his island... Then the Mew has the proper coding in it and the game will read it as legit. :P

There was an event in the UK at Toys R Us Branches where they gave away Mews for your FR and/or LG games.

My bet is it comes from there.

The Toys 'R Us ones have the trainer ID, MYSTRY, and are the only english Mews that are considered legit.

I don't think it is, as the Japanese emerald wasn't the only emerald that got the event item, the old sea chart or something, No I don't think it is hacked, so don't stress.

He probably got the event item on his english game and caught it with a masterball.

Paranoia, Nintendo never had an event for the old sea chart in U.S.A. or UK (i think for UK) so im like 99.9% sure its hacked.

Yeah, i was interestid in how it handles hax handling, so i made some with CirosMAKER, FOR THE PUSPOUSE IF LEARNING, I DID NOT ACTUALY TRADE THEM, and i'm not very impressed. from what firends told me, the gts only stoped obvois hacks suck as level 9charizard with aurua sphere and roar of time. many imitations of natural pokemon were uploaded. Maybe Ciro is a genius, or someone with basic coding skills and an uncompiled emerald rom, but the game onluy takes into account some very basic information about the pokemon, and seems to have some combinatiosn that cause a rejection. it has no heuristic abilitys. this could be a good or bad thing depending on what you plan to do with this information. I'm slightly worried, i think i'll buy PBR to test a bit more =D . BTW, GTS allowed haxed faraway island english mews. i'm kinda suprised.

btw it is absolutely hacked i tried to trade it on GTS and it rejected it. and just to get it out there the guy who sent it to me was BURZES, so be sure not to do business with him

Mews caught in Emerald are legit. Just check its Trainer Memo before you accept it. If it says stuff like "Route 201. Met at Lv. 2" or anything like that, it was hacked.

He doesn't have a trade thread, so you've probably PMed him to start up a trade. Well, PMs don't concern us since they're private, as the name suggests, so I really can't do anything about that, sorry.

And yeah, that guy's most probably hacked.
