Um, now that i think about this, it realy is more of an art then a science. first of all, read twilightblades excelent guide to rare unobtainables. http://www.pkmncommunity.com/showthread.php?t=87536
To truly know, you need to have some serious knolegde about he pokemon in the first place, and most importantly, nothing has an ID no of 00000! I'm a recently reformed cloner and hacker, so if you want me to, i'll help you with any identifications =/

Well if they usually come in a Masterball at level 100 they are usually hacked. Those are the trademarks of a hacker.

um, any starter not in a pokeball... anything that cant breed hatched from an egg, anything that seems too perfect compared to the rest fo a guys offereings. there are a lot of things that set me off. you'll probably need to lean most of it yourself.

An easy way to tell is by looking at their Trainer Memo. If they came from an area that nothing in their evolution line usually appears in, it was hacked.

Ichida, that bit of data is replaced with the region it came from when you migrate.

Which makes them harder to spot. D/P hackeds are easy to spot this way though.
