Master Duelests, YuGiOh wannabees x_x

In the comercial, they constantly say how its outranked every card game in their history (implying both pokemon and yugioh). I was wondering, and Japanese out there that can disproove this? Personally, i think it was made in America. And their trying to steal some of the fame from Japanese stuff.
What tehy don't know is, its not japanese that draws us to it, (though intresting) its the personallity, and originallity.

What are you taling about? Are you talking about duel masters? I agree it sounds like yugioh, but i've seen the show and played the game and it's hardly anything like yugioh, other than the card game aspect of the show.

Duel Masters (I think the Japanese version IS called MAster Duelists) is an American card game, yes. IT is made by the same makers of magic, known as Wizards of the Coast. The gaming style of duel masters is a cross between pokemon and magic. They take the mana idea of magic, the prize concept of pokemon, the creature attacking concept from pokemon, the costing function from magic, and the abilites section of magic.

As a basic game, this is so similar to magic, you might as well PLAY magic and not waste time with Duel Masters.
The reasons why it's less fun: - all cards you own can basically produce mana (so essentially all can be lands), so you're never mana screwed (and the building of the deck is less fun).
- all spells are sorcery speed (only during yuor turn, like pokemon), whereas magic has instants
- all spells have a set mana cost that is easy to determine (if its cost is "3", then it's "2C", where C is the colour it is in), whereas magic has a more variety in its costs.
etc.

Anyway, all in all it's still a very solid game to play and a good transition between YGO and magic (which I'm starting to think IS the purpose of Duel Masters). So is it original? No way. Is it fun? Yeah. Is it a good game to consider playing? Yeah. Is this Johnny going to shut up about how much magic is better than Duel Masters? No. :P

Haha, thanks. Oops, sorry, I *was* talking about Duel Masters (but...you...probably already know that...) But like my friend said when they saw the comercial, it seems like an American company is trying to get some of Pokemon, Digimon, and YuGiOh's success just by saying its Japanese. YuYuHakushu (sp*) is japanese, and it isn't to popular from my opinion (I may be wrong! don't kill me!)
Thanks, I'll look into it this game. (Most people who play yugioh i know, play magic already, or played magic before yugioh came out n.n)

I saw an ad for Duel Masters in my Nintendo power, and first thing that came to my mind is...

"Not agAIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINN!!!"

I'm sick on people trying to cash in on japanese card games and their greatness. It's just some loust cash cow, and they think if they can slap some kid with a deck and wierd clothes on combined with apparently a "Chosen One" and "An ultimate Card Game master" then they have something...NEVA!

Actually, if they stuck with the Magic style, and have a decent anime where it's not card battling, then it'll be good. btw, it's AMERICAN and not Japanese. lol

Actually I've already picked this game up and have been playing it since the first weak it came out, the show is Ok, nothing specail. The game is really good though, In my opinion, I've been to one or two tourneys for this and there as fun as ever, it may be the next YGO, but thats fine with me()

Its pretty cool being better at everyone at their Initial game but considering your the best and having the best deck because you wanted to be one of the characters in the animé is ridicilous,its just a game and everyone should just acknowledge that.

Bah Duel masters is not a as popular as Yugioh is and i really dont think it ever will be yugioh has better gameplay to it cause you gotta think more duel master is a mixed between magic and pokemon cards cause of the 5 bench and the mana thing.

There is no bench in Duel Masters. Also, I second the "better" gameplay part, considering that I feel (IMHO) the two games are relatively equal in gameplay overall (there's just NO CONTROL DECKS!).

Duel masters maybe good and Yugioh maybe better but i still consider the best card game pokemon cards.

I'd have to admit that currently pokemon has better gameplay than YGO and DM. At least control EXISTS in pokemon...

Yeah. It's quite a thing that Nintendo increased pokemon TCG sales during the Ruby/Sapphire base set. It's quite a feat they've done there.
