Short Introduction
It's been a while since my first attempt to hack a ROM. Even if sometimes I was tempted to make a new hacking group, I always worked almost alone. Things change now.
Our goal is to make good quality hacks. Our targets are Advance ROMs. Anyway, any D/P hacking could be done in the future as well.
We are currently working on a G/S remake and we will work together on the same project until finished.

Rules for Applying

1. General

- Don't try to join us if you haven't any proofs.
- Don't post proofs that don't belong to you.
- Use the applying form, filling it entirely.
- Trasgressors of any of these rules won't probably take in consideration, except under particular circumnstances.

2. Mapping Proofs

- Make sure mapping isn't you're only skill since we have enough mappers.
- Before posting, check your maps. They mustn't have any errors.
- When posting large maps include them inside a SPOILER.
- Use only FR/LG-styled tilesets.

3. Spriting Proofs

- Either some battle sprites, overworlds, RBYGSC revamps or pixel-overs are allowed. Do your best.
- If you made some sprites from a base, heavy changes are required.
- If possible, you should be able to create sprites from scratch.

4. Scripting Proofs

- Post some scripts as advanced as possible. Use the CODE tags.
- If possible, put a link to a video related to the scripts you posted. Otherwhise post some screenshoots at least.
- Explain your script step by step, describing what did you do and why.

I think you need to spend more minutes..
there are many bugs, and the map is really unbusy xD

but thats my opinion

I agree with Wuggles. Your maps have to much empty space and there are not so good at all.
Anyway, remember: there's not a time limit for mapping.
A good map could require several hours. Please come back when your mapping skills are better.

But before like a couple of weeks ago when I first started I wanted there to be so many people to talk to and added 27 people in little root. But then lots of glitches occured. i.e people out of the map. People dissaperring etc. But ok. This team seems to be the only active team so I must improve! im working on one right now. My last attempt...

Past Experience: Well I have no prior experience BUT I am working on a Pokemon Ruby remake and so far the only glitch anyone has found is the sand in Dewford has water in it.

Sorry Kid nino, but your maps are really not good enough..
That last map has some tile-errors, that grass is sooo unnatural.
+ There are to many people on the map.

I'm sorry, but you're not going to be a map creator in our team.


Rashoumon, those sprites are not bad. Though, some of them need some work..Wait for HackMew's comment..

@ Kid nino: No, no. That map it's not enough, sorry. I don't like all that grass, especially in that unnatural way as well as those unaesthetical rocks. Moreover, there are too much people and the two houses are too small.

@ Rashoumon: I've seen you Fakedex and I have to say that some Fakemon inside are quite good even if they could need some little adjustments. Well, in you skilling you wrote "Spriting (custom Pokemon)" but we don't need really Fakemon: instead we could need some trainer sprites. If you would join us, will you make some trainer sprites then?

It may look a bit blurry but thats because Photobucket does that to my pictures
Past Experience: Well I have tried making 3 Hacks before. All 3 failed due to Scripting errors due to I am a horrible scripter. But no one found any Graphic errors.
Other Notes: I decided to try out again due to I need to learn to script before I try to make another hack so I will be able to help others. I will edit my post with more images ^_^ and I forgot to make the image show the people >.>
Scripting Errors on the Map-
1. When you leave the gym you come out of your rivals house
2. Instead of going on the route for Prof.Oak to come out you just walk out your door. But he takes you onto route 21 and enters an invisible building but when you come out again you come out of your rivals house.
3. When you go up to the doors of the gym it says Viridian Gym Doors are locked something like that but the sign is ok ^_^.

On a side note you see that there is no longer a pond in Pallet? Well I took it out because I made a strip of land that connects to Pallet on Route 21 where you find the Kanto starters from level 1-5. (they had to come from somewhere right?)

@ Rashoumon: Not bad ^^ Could you show me some other edits, maybe?

@ dark navi: Wuggles is right: there are some errors on the map. BTW, what's making that old person on the gym's roof? XD Regarding your scripting skills, the answer to your question is yes: fix the errors on the map, script it and post the scripts used. If you want you can make a little video too.

@ Liquid_Thunder: Beh, per lo scripting direi che ci siamo... magari commenta linea per linea lo script (in inglese, così anche gli altri capiscono :P). Posta però qualcos'altro riguardo le altre tue abilità. - Well, for scripting I think it's enough... maybe comment all the lines in your script (in English, so the other people can understand them too :P). But please post something else regarding your other skills.

It needs some work on the head and weapon though..

qeustion I can do basicly anything involving Maps so I geuss thats mapping not spriting O_O

@ Rashoumon: Nice one, even if it needs some lil' light/shadow improvements, like on the legs or on the weapon.

@ JoryRide: I supposed that. Talking about your map, that's true: there aren't errors. Hovewer, it looks a bit too simple. I'd like to see more "complicated" ones.

@ Nighton: Your "basic" skill is too much general. Try to define it better. Also, the video doesn't show so much proofs of your skills.

@ Aquila: Mapping is not whay we really need at the moments but it seems that most people are able to map somethinh :P
As you said, there are some errors in the second map which are located on the lake part. I don't like so much all those ordered bushes. Besides, all the two maps looks quite simple. I'd like more complex ones. Could you make some new, maybe?

i also got background in playing lots of FF style rpg's so i could make a theme for each major character maybe? like the player, the rival, the gym leaders? idk its an idea. if ya could i need the game before i write usually to write themes to it. i work fast. give me an idea of what to write and i'll get it done in one sitting. jsut an idea of how fast i move i made both of those proofs while popcorn was popping. i'll post a better one in aproximately 16 hours from this post

oh just a comment on your map corrosion, i see 1 error but otherwise a great map. more my style i like to play on than the others. when your done with a map. go back and check each tile carefully. the one error kept this map from being perfect!

@ Corrosion: There is a little error under the Poké Ball and the bush in the left side isn't really appropriate. The whole map, anyway, is quite good. Could you show me some other maps using FR or FR tileset as base?

I think that questions like that should be posted in the "Simple Questions" thread. Anyway, you don't need to extract all the midis since you can find all of them here (http://www.vgmusic.com/music/console/nintendo/gameboy/index-gr.html). I hope it helped.

Of then. I need to know a few things first however:

What features do you want? (e.g. Rivers, mountains, archipalago setting, big mainland)

Should it be connected to another region? (and if so, on the top, bottom, left or right)

Where should the starter town be? (An idea would be to have it on a small island with a ferry to another small town on the mainland. Ferry destinations could become more numerous as more towns are passed)

Shall I include a battle tower?

If you just want me to make one of my own accord, just say. However with these attributes i could make a better map.

i would really love to join this but sadly i can't, as i've never made even one hack, and have trouble even getting one started, can't come up with storylines either. What I've really like to see someone make is a pokemon coordinator hack, i've tried to make it myself, but i can't figure out how to make a hack even when i'm following the dirations, but i can still be a fanclub member, right,

@ Quil: Nice proofs, really. Even if the grass of your posted maps looks a bit artificial, the maps don't have errors and looks good. Regarding scripting, yes it's explained correctly.

A simple map of size 20x24 tiles. Some custom blocks used, mostly made from default game resources. The G/S/C series small tree revamped and reshaded by me. Also, since you talked about tile editing/scripting I'd like to some some related proofs too.

@ Martin Yiu: The map you posted looks fine, even if the grass should need a retouch to make it less "artificial". Could you post a route map?

So, I am proceeding very slowly, but I improved the mapping section application (although I know that you have enough mappers, I still want to try it).

The same 20x24 town now with added 20x32 route map. I know there are some oddities, but you know that I am just that crazy to let them be as they are and hope for some advice xD. If you have screen resolution 1280x1024, the maps should blend well into each other (triple checked) and therefore they might look like one image, but they aren't.

It's a nice map, but there are WAY to many grass patches. Also could you get rid of the sides of the houses? It looks unnatural for a roof to touch the ground.

Good job though, maybe a nice small town would be better?

I would say that the "lock" command doesn't lock the player (since it's locked anyway; the caller is locked instead) and the offsets you choose are a bit too "space-wasting".
But well, you aren't applying just for scripting so it's not really a problem. Welcome to the ROM Raiders team!

@ Cartman: I'm sorry but I can't see something "awesome" in the sprites you showed me. If you want, try to do some other G/S/C revamps and custom/scratch sprites. Trainers in particular.

For better comparision, I flipped your Mew and made clear background. I added the Crystal Mew for comparision of changes. I even had to change one its eye to match your revamp. I left it as it was on my revamp.

For showing that I am capable of doing RBY sprites, too, here's a pretty old Eevee revamp, slightly modified to match newer trends of spriting.
