Check this out. http://www.pokemon.com/events/index.asp?articleID=520 . ain't that something? The mayor of Houston officially declared Jun to be Pokemon Space Party Month! Now that's a sign of pokemon still going strong if I ever saw one.

Not just a pokemon month, but a pokemon space party month? That's just sort of strange...actually, that's really, really strange o_O It even borders on creepy, especially when seeing a giant jirachi and torchic and all that in a Texas courtroom...why couldn't it just be pokemon month? Why such a freakish name? >_<;;

HOLY COW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *spaz* I LOVE TEXAS! The mayor of Houston is AWESOME! O_O I'm never moving away from this state. *runs around crazily* Wow! This is a dream come true! I was made to live in Texas! I'm going to go bug my mom about that little convention they're having now!

(And yeah... Those pictures of them in the courtroom were a little freaky, but oh well. O_o You're never too old to like Pokemon! Or that guy has children, or the Pokemon Rocks America event in Houston was their biggest money-maker!)

Sine the mayor made it a month long event, I'm trying to see if my parents will take me sometime during the summer. After all, i have all june to get there. :D

So... Will this event take place every June? If so, then I can go every year! I hope so. If it's only going to take place this year, then I probably can't. My mother said that it was too short of a notice... We'd have to drive about five hours to get there. ._.

I can't go at all. I haven't gone overseas on holiday for ages (if you don't count Malaysia), and this year's the same, I think...
It sounds fun to me, but I was wondering if there is a hidden reason why they might have organised such an event.

The only reason I could think of is that they like Pokemon in Houston... a lot. They may make this an every year thing, though it can't be said. The only way to find out I suppose would be to ask the mayor of houston or Pokemon.com themselves. Anyone have the mayor's email address? :D

Probably money. I bet that both the Houston Space Center and the Pokemon Company made a lot of money during that event. I think that the mayor of Houston invited the Pokemon team back for this event, and they agreed. ^_^; The convention in Houston was really crowded, and everyone was buying so much stuff!

And I'll have to look for the mayor's e-mail address, lol. I'll definately write Pokemon.com and ask them!

Good point there. It sounds really popular with people, and it's good for tourism too.

Ah, yeah. A lot of little kids visit the Space Center, so it is nice! ^_^; I mainly wanted to go because they're going to be showing the next movie on a huge screen. Plus, there are free gifts and everything...

Ahh, you’re pretty lucky Kayleigh! The “space” part sounds like they’re trying to push Deoxys and Jirachi, certainly… hmm.
Actually, tmbjr and DragonTrainer are luckier... They live in Houston. T_T My mother said that she would've taken me if we didn't live so far away, but since it was such short notice, we won't have time. Plus that big of an event would take planning, money, (Gas = $$$) etc. so I won't be able to go. I wish that they were having it in like August or something. Hopefully they'll do this every year, but it doesn't sound like it.

It's space month for a reason...just use your handy-dandy rocket boots!

*flies into space, squaredances on Neptune with a bunch of Deoxys*

Do you know if DT or tmbjr will go? Maybe theyll post pictures, something you still havent done. Nyah. =p

Kayleigh
May 27th, 2004, 12:39 PM
Well, I sent DT a PM about it, but I'm still waiting for a response. I don't know about tmbjr... If they live nearby, then they have a pretty good chance of going for atleast one day, because it lasts a week. Hmm. *wonders how long it would take her to get there if she rode her brother's bike* >_> Eh, my mom would kill me.

And I have a picture coming, I just... haven't taken it yet. I could use my Polaroid right now. My hair looks nice, since it's styled, and I guess this outfit is okay. I'll have to see how they turn out, and go from there! XD

Yes, I can't stand people in those stupid Pokemon costumes. It makes the fandom look bad and babyish.

i don't think it's just one week, though that was the original intention. I think it may be during al of june now. And what's wrong with people in suits? Every major tourist attraction has them. look at Disney Land.

Iveechan
May 27th, 2004, 06:07 PM
Just because every tourist attraction has them doesn't mean I have to like them. I just find it silly and embarrassing.

Pogiforce-14
May 27th, 2004, 06:20 PM
i didn't say you ahve to like them, I'm just saying that they really are more of a good representation of the fandom insteadof an embarrassment like you had said. Personally, people in those suits give me the shivers, but I deal with them anyway. :D

Aww, but it sounds fun to trap yourself in a Pokemon costume. ^_^

XD, Kayleigh! Yeah, don't try ride your bike there, lol. Perhaps some of it will be on television? :\ It doesn't sound like a small event. XD Good luck, I hope your pics turn out really good!

Wow, never thought of good ole' bill that way

Anyways - living in texas is not what it is cracked up to be. Remember that things are never what they seem. I am smoldering here from the heat.

Yeah - Pokemon is the best anime out there. Don't mess with it!

Every major tourist attraction has them. look at Disney Land. Disneyland also has the most annoying ride ever - it's a small world after all. Plus it is about $50.00 - trust me I frequent florida a lot.

I just wish I brought my camera!

I wonder how many people will go. It would be funny if only 8 year olds went, and some 16 year old goes, and sticks out and gets pikced on by little kids.

*clears throat*

Sounds fun, but where is clefairy? That's the space Pok, so it's only right...

yeah, imagine that..well since i've already got the movie there is no reason for a 17 year old to go.

Why haven't I heard of this? I live in Houston.
I'll try to be there if I can get the date on it. I can drive up there all by myselfand take pictures of all the cool stuff and then go around the forums taunting you guys cuz you didn't go XD

BTW,My parents hated Bill White in the last mayoral election. I wonder why...

"Contest winners from Kids WB and Houston Chronicle, as well as other Houston-area guests, packed the theater and were treated to a special live performance of the movies theme song Wish Maker by Japanese teen pop star Asuca Hayashi."

Gaaah, if only I was there.
