Well, good luck in completing the game! It looks awesome. I wish the Pokemon Center was large like that in the games, so you could do more than heal, check PC, use the multiplayer functions upstairs, and talk to bystanders. At least one of them, in case multiple Centers of that size are too large for the game's data.

It's not like I'm not annoyed with his absence, but it's not too much of a problem. Even if it takes Cpt. Arcane a month to get back, I won't mind, because I know that he probably hasn't given up. As long as we're patient, we'll eventually get this great game. From the start we pretty much knew this would take a while, so having to wait just a bit longer isn't much of a problem. If anything, it makes sure that he won't be overworked and when he does get back to it, he'll do even better. This game looks amazing, and any amount waiting time is worth it.

Ok since i haven't seen it posted i need to throw my idea out there

I was on serebii.net and i was reading about how ash battled two of his pokeon in like a scrimmage, well i was wondering if it was possible to do this, battle your pokemon with each other, but not to the point of fainting, just till they got to like 10 hp or so, and attacks could be at half strength or something, so you don't hurt your own pokemon. It could happen at facilities in every town, your mother's house, or in your secret base, house, appartment, etc. or something

am i completely insane or is that not a great idea

i would ask why ... if you do that, then it would be alot easier to train your pokemon super strong without loosing anything, such as half your gold if you do badly as in the games
additionally, it would (probably) mean that you have control over both pokemon. Which, would mean that you would probably lean more towards one pokemon, so would it really be a 'fair' battle?
finally, it would kinda take the fun out of battleing other people if the only way you increase your own strength is by battleing yourself.

I have some bad news for you all.
Those of you have been paying close attention know that CA hasn't logged in since July 14. Since he's been gone for well over a month, I feel obligated to tell the dedicated Lost World fanbase this. I haven't spoken to Arcane since his last login, which leads me to believe that either something has happened to him which has cut his internet access, or he simply isn't getting on the internet anymore, both worry me greatly.

I'm suggesting to the mods that this thread be closed untill CA's return, or untill I can find out what has happened to him.

Even if AI were to take control of the opposite pokemon to battle each other then you could just choose certain types to battle each other (ie. water vs grass.) An interesting idea, but a flawed one at that.

well, surprisingly, that looks pretty sweet.
I would take out the pokeball symbol in the middle of the water though. and replace it with floating platforms. I believe thats what its like in the anime.

That way you can give the maps to CA.

if you don't like doing outside mapping, then you could probably do gyms and the insides of buildings if you want. i'm sure with the size of these cities he'll need alot of buildings [not to mention that most of them are rather simple]

considering the size of this project, i think that you guys have about 5% of it done. but because of the larger team taht is to be when CA gets back, i assume that it will start moving along at a faster pace.

the game is multi-player online. that being so, there are many contests and such. i'm sure that big ones would be like unofficial 'festivals'. but i don't know about the mini games - what could you do?

why? why should you wait until a pokemon was final stage in order to use HMs with it?

That's not a very good idea.

P.S. Watch the first pokemon movie. They have a lot of 1st stage pokemon taking there trainers to safety in the part where it's raining and there in the water.

I think it was mentioned in this thread that having more than four moves would be possible by reaching certain levels. Although I think that is a fairly good idea, I was thinking that in battles against other humans (if there are any, that is) that you would have to pick four out of however many moves you have at the time to use in that certain battle. Having more than four moves in battles against other people would drastically change how battles work and make the metagame even more offensively oriented than it is now. I think having more than four moves is good, just not in battles against other people (once again, I'm not sure if there will be, but if there are that's my idea).

Really I dont think a squirtle or totodile can bring you to a another island.
In the first movie where many waterpokemon who carried there trainers.
But think it's imposible :P
So maybe something like only last evos can bring you to an island.
But if the pokemon is just big it can surf, like lapras.

my reason is that captain arcane wanted it more realistic.... it is more realistic that a charizard flys with u on it thatn a pidgy or pidgiotto and blastoise other than a wartortle basicly big pokemon can do it and most legendary pokemon are big most not all ad pokemon that dont evolve are usally big such as lapras but the smaller pokemon like real small or 1st stage pokemon can follow u

heres the thing - if he does make it like that, then most pokemon wouldn't be able to learn surf. kingerl, octillery, corsula, starmie, many water pokemon wouldn't fit teh 'requirement', thereby limiting the pokemon that you could actually surf with.

additionally, look at the structure of a pidgeot. its a gigantic bird - theres no place to actually sit without impairing its movements, unlike with a charizard. that would mean that in order to fly with it, you would have to hold onto its leg for quite some time, which if you think about it would be hard to do. unless you had a harness rigged up it would be impossible.

making those restrictions would impact the game alot more than you would think. i think its better not to have them

i didn't say anything about the size of a charizard compared to a pidgeot - i was saying that theres no way to sit on a pidgeot due to its structure. not its size.

pidgeot is a bird type pokemon. the skeletal structure leaves no place for a person to sit without hampering the wings.
the charizard on the other hand is more of a lizard type. looking at images and imagining a skeletal structure from that, it has a torso/neck that a person can sit on. that and the fact that the wings aren't full flesh contact with the torso means that its possible to sit without impairing them. on birds, the wing is connected in a larger band

Well, about the surfing/flying thing, there is a point. But I think I remember an anime episode where someone flies on a Pidgeot. I don't think you should make it so complicated, with body shapes and so... Just the size of the Pokémon. Maybe you could make little pokémon fly and surf less long, and bigger pokémon could be able to surf and fly a longer distance.

Well, I just read the replies that werer post on the PTLW thread. And I can't tell you how happy and amazed that everyone is still beleiving in us. And again, I'm very proud of you guys for taking command of the thread, and keeping from ripping at its seems.

Also, I have some good news, well. That I was going to announce at my arrival when I got back on to the community, but, I feel as if I must do it now, or you actually! ^_^

A few days before it was decided that I was moving and got my computer packed up, which was back in July. I finished Route 3, and all its glory that a route should have.

So, I would like you to inform everyone that my return is immanent. And that when I do, Rotue 3 will be shown. And also, tell them that I am extremely grateful to every fan that is still supporting, even though I've been gone for quite some time. And also inform them, that I won't be logging on until I have my computer.

And also, please tell every team member that I am very proud of each of them for still working, and believing, even in my absence.

The only reason games dont have attack animations is because theyr made with Poccils SK.
Which doesnt come with those implemented.
So people decide not to put them in or wait till its the last thing.

in DBZ there was a point to it because there were places in the air that you could fight, but in pokemon you can only fly to where a pokemon center is. making it in 3d would serve no helpful point to it - just add another layer of complexity and time wasting that isn't needed

And even though big maps are awesome, why the hell would you need that many houses? Hell, you might as well add China Town and a railway system. Most people probably won't visit half of those, so it'd just be wasting space. I know you're going for "realistic", but c'mon, huge maps just won't cut it. Hell, I've even read you've got lost in Viridian before, and you made it. What'll people who just began playing do?

2. Customizable Character - I personally like the idea of being able to change your character, but how will you manage the trainer sprites in a battle? Will you have specific sprites for every single combination? =\

3. Every Region - It's a hawt idea, but c'mon. That ,alone, will take a year or two to map out every single route, town, and anything else. And at the rate this project is going, that's being generous.

4. Online - It's a smexy idea. 'Nuff said.

Overall, the project overall could use some work, but it's good enough. Take my points into consideration if you will and use to to shape your game into perfection.

first off, to address one of the responses to that post ... so what if he has 23 posts? post count has nothing to do with how good a person is on a forum - i know alot of sites where the admins have a lesser post count than 3/4 the people on the forum. dont judge someone by their post count.

It's called critique. I'm expressing my opinions. You should learn to handle them instead of getting angry.
