I'm just wondering all the risks of cloning with GTS. Is there a chance I'll lose my game?

There is a chance you'll lose the Pokemon you're trying to clone... and a lot of people frown on cloned Pokemon. It's your choice if you'd like to risk losing your Pokemon or not.

I'm doing it to get rare candies I was just wondering if it was worth it but if you only lose the pokemon then I could just use a crappy one right?

Just use a Bidoof if you are going to clone items. ^_^

The new Pokemon games are backed twice so you dont need to worry about losing your data as you have a backup save file.

Don't worry about losing your game, though - Diamond/Pearl uses a backup system where it always keeps a 2nd copy of your save file, so you'll never ose it.

ok cool...thanks!!! I would die if I lost my game, as I'm sure we all would, so I just wanted to make sure. I won't be to broken up if I lose my bidoof :)

I heard that some people get banned from GTS for cloning

Goldenhammerhead

no the server is just too busy and it appears as if they have.

I'm not sure if this is completely true or not but it also makes your wireless router non-Wifi compatible. After failing at cloning, my wireless router has been slower than usual...

It happend to me :\
but then a week later it let me back on :)

They don't have mods on there, do they? I mean, you rightfully paid for the game, so you should be able to have access to every feature without the risk of being banned.

Only when ya use the features right and not for personal gain hehe

I don't see any reason to clone... for me personally, if I want more than one Shiny I am quite capable of going into a grassy patch and chaining Pokemon... Though I wish I had some level 90 something Linoones for Pickup XD... Maybe I'll work on that...

ppl can be too lazy to chain tho ya get the "It takes too long" line most of time

Well, if you know what you're doing it really is a good way to pass the time XD.

I know a glitch for cloning items in D/P:

Get a Ditto and a Pokémon that knows Thief, Covet, etc. Attach the item you want to clone to Ditto. Then go to route 209 (I'm not sure) and use the VS Seeker to fight a couple. THey'll have a Meditate and a Machop. Get the Meditate out of the way, then use Ditto's Transform to turn into Machop. Use Thief or Covet in your Ditto. Then just kill the Machop. After battling, both your Ditto and your other Pokémon should have the item attached!

I think this happens because when you use Thief or Covet in a trainer's Pokémon, he/she will get the item back when you have another battle. But this won't happen with your own Pokémon, that's why you need to have Ditto. I think it copies some data of your foe that makes the game think it is your foe, so it returns the item to Ditto.

i copied this i will not take credit from whoever it was who found it

That glitch only works in the Japanese version last I heard, you're stuck with the GTS or you can go on Wifi with someone and manage to clone a Pokemon, one of my friends lost his Gengar because I lost the signal and he and I both had an Alakazam in the end...

I never knew that Nintendo could kick you out of WiFi, can they bann you from anything else besides the GTS?

Random
August 5th, 2007, 04:54 AM
No they cant ban you from anything else. The only reasons i know why they ban you from GTS, is either from cloning, or if their server is down, and you cant log in for a while.

I don't want to scare anyone, but my Pokemon game got completely earsed when i tried the GTS clone trick. I got a blue screen of death from a DS game!! Lol.

It's just lucky it was my unimportant Japanese save file :D

Funny, i had a friend, who owned a Japaneses pearl, which i dont know how, but it got the "blue screen of death" also, he didn't why or how. Maybe he did the same thing, but this happened before the english version came out.

Yup same here, it just said my data was corrupted on the back of a Blue Sreen, maybe it was Nintendo's evil way of killing cloners. lol

But yeah sucks poo really!!

I dont think the Nintendo could of predicted cloning would happen in GTS, maybe theres something glitchy with the japanese games(considering theyre more glitchly then english versions), if you do cloning on them, they probably mess up your game.

Also are you able to start a new game after that happening, cause my friend couldn't start a new game save when he got that screen?
