I was wondering what guitar ear training was. I read online that it is the best thing you can do to learn how to play good solos and to improvise good. I dont understand how I could learn how to do that. I play 80's Metal, 80's Rock, and of course, 80's Glam Metal and Power Ballads and stuff if that helps.

Also, I was wondering if anyone is trying to learn Metallica's "Master of Puppets". Thats a hard song, but ive heard harder ones. Im learning the solo to this song. Not the last solo, but the first 1. The main riffs and such are really fast and I think you need distortion. Thats why its hard for me lol.

This thread would be better suited in Other Entertainment, so I'll move it there for you.

Master Puppets is easy. Come on, if you can't keep up with the song, then I don't know.

One tip on playing really fast solos and riffs:

Turn your pick so that the edges are facing towards and away from your guitar.
