I'm back, yay. For now at least.

So I'm back from my mission trip thing! Now to describe my adventures.

First, a bit about the program, Urban C.R.O.S.S. (Christians Reaching Out in Service to Saint Paul). It's basically a mission trip, but instead of going somewhere and spending all kinds of money to do so, we stay at a church near home and do service projects in our own neighborhood. This year was our second year doing it and more people came this year from other churches- about 30 people going out and working, along with camp staff and other volunteers. It's super fun to spend time with all my friends and meet new people as well. Our theme this year was "defeating giants" and of course our Biblical focus was the story of David and Goliath.

It started Sunday at around 3 pm. Everybody slowly gathered at my home church, and once everyone was there my youth pastor Eric gave us the little intro-talk and split us all up into TIM groups. I really have forgotten what TIM stands for, but there you go. Have a guess. But there were six groups with four youth and one adult in each. I wasn't with any of my friends, which really did dishearten me, but Eric always wants us to mix and I guess he decided I would be able to handle separation better than the others. I was probably the oldest one of the group besides the leader. Hana and Desmond I think are 13 or 14, and Andy was probably 16. Our leader Phil was pretty nice. We all got along pretty well, although by then end the two younger ones were grating on my nerves a bit. We all had to come up with a team name and cheer and draw a poster. Our name was Rock Wins and cheer was when Andy started out with "Christ the solid rock!" and we'd answer back "Rock wins!"

We had dinner and a bit of free time, then we went to worship which was fairly fun. We actually got a decent band in and everybody sang and it was fun. They played good songs, not like the hymns and whatever. More contemporary Christian music. Pastor Dave was interesting to listen to, but my friend group really can't help talking constantly. It's kind of embarrassing but none of us can shut up for long.

Then we had snacks after worship and then more free time. But what came as something of a surprise- to me at least because I don't read things apparently- was that we weren't sleeping at my home church like we did last year, we were going to be sleeping out at a church in Woodbury. Apparently my home church doesn't have enough room but I think that's Tauros excrement. So we packed up our stuff and our people and went off to that church. We set everything up, explored, talked, etc, and had lights out at 11. Oh and we had a chaperone named Meg who stayed in our room to keep an eye on us. Of course my friends and I stayed up talking. Hanna and Ali went to sleep at 1, but Morgiana and I kept it up for an hour, in which I slipped into a Welsh accent and got stuck with it. Side effect of watching Torchwood for 3 or 4 days straight.

Approximate schedule for the week:
7:15 - Wake-up
8:00 - Breakfast at home church
9:00 - Get to worksite
12:00 - Lunch
4:00 - Shower at YMCA
5:30 - Dinner
7:00 - Worship
9:00 - Go back to Woodbury
11:00 - Lights out
1:00 - Sleep

My particular group was always in a rush to get ready and leave because we had a hard time getting up. And the boys kept coming in and bothering us while we were trying to change. Especially Jonas, who came in every day for my hairbrush and once for toothpaste. But we all managed to get going pretty fast.

Work was fun. The first two days my TIM group painted a garage door, cleaned and fixed up the gutters, mowed a lawn and weeded, and put a few new boards on the garage because the others were rotted. The next three days were much more interesting and intense because we built a retaining wall. It's hard work guys. We dug out the side of a hill- I got to use a pickaxe for that- and pulled out lilac bushes and chopped roots- with a regular axe, I used that too- and removed remnants of like 4 different walls that had been there before. The couple that owned the home were super nice and helped with the work and then played disc golf with us since they had a couple baskets and a bunch of discs. Oh and they gave us pizza for lunch on Friday and filled the area between the sidewalk and wall with concrete and let us decorate it with little... what are they? The pebbles like the ones you get in a Mancala set. I haven't played that in forever, wow. And we had letter stamps to spell out our names and such. It was cool.

Um, worship was pretty interesting all of the week. Although I fell asleep at least once every day. Pastor Dave was fun and the music was good but a little loud for the amount of people there. And we could have used more energeting songs. The only really energetic one was "Undignified", which is totally mine and Jonas's song. We dance to it every time, ever since Student Conference a few years ago. So fun~ But the real charm in that song only comes out when it's played live; studio recordings just don't capture the energy it gives everyone.

Free time is where things always get interesting. Hanna got mad at Jonas about halfway through the week, and then I was coerced into helping them through that and into a relationship. Which is absolutely adorable. It took like four days of really hard work on my end and complete awkwardness on theirs to try to sort things out because honestly they are both really really awkward. But it worked out and they are still awkward as hell but extremely adorable. But Jonas has to tell his parent about this later today and I hope they let it continue because it will regardless... but I mean his older brother is my boyfriend and we have gotten in a fair bit of trouble before. So I'm hoping that Eric and Amy won't be all like "no you're too young" or "you'll be just like Ian and Savannah" and be more like what I've already told them- "don't make the same mistakes". Such as making out at church camp.

Oh and I loved hanging out with all my friends. I got to know Ben and he is fun, and I talked to Morgiana and Eliot more than I really do usually. And it was fun and of course I'm doing it next year. :3 Only sad part was that Ian wasn't there except for a bit on Sunday night, in which he was kind of a jerk and said all of twenty words to me and spent all his time on his laptop. Douche. Somebody remind me why I like him please.

SO IT WAS FUN GUYS and I'm back for the time being but I may be going to my grandparent's house for a few days this week to help work on their new house. YAY FOR MANUAL LABOR

ily all and I missed you <3
