Why I hate Facebook

Well, to start me off for another blog, I decided to target one of my pet peeves – Facebook. I’ll admit I do have Facebook (don’t try to add me, or you’ll suffer the same accidental fate as Andy), but I only have it to keep in touch with friends. And I type fast and text slow, so I really hate using my phone. Facebook is great for maintaining stable relationships with people out of state or unreachable, but it detriments how teenagers interact in a social environment, without a computer or laptop for a shield.
I guess I’ll start addressing the things that disgust me and make me shudder in sheer hatred when I see them on my screen. First is the repetitive pose that all the females in my generation have. Peace Sign, tongue diagonally poking out mouth, letterman jacket, thick beads and short skirts have seemed to become the signature look for all the teenagers, which frankly I don’t get. It just makes them look duck-faced. Disgusting duck faced followers. What I hate even more is the caption:
“OMG I’m so ugly ))):”.
Every time I witness the monstrosity I envision a sly girl tenting her fingers as people comment on her beauty, driven by pity. Clever, very clever. But it’s still yuck.
Next would have to be the infamous
“like and I’ll tell you what I like and don’t like about you :)))!”.
I will never ever like one of these. I know it is just done in fun, but it’s something I find incredibly shallow, mostly because the reply is usually the same meaning translated through meaningless babble for every person.
“Like: OMG, ur so pretty!!!!!
Dislike: We NEVURR HANG OUT D’: !”
Every time I see that I feel like crying for humanity.
Lastly, and lastly only because I can’t be bothered writing anymore, is the friend requests. From people who are most definitely not my friends. Just because we are mutual friends, or go to the same school does not automatically mean I want to be friends. I have around 60 friends on Facebook, and around a lot more unanswered friend requests I never intend to respond to.
