My dirty housemate.
This is quite awkward, because I actually don't see the point in having these blogs. Until now... I legit have been complaining about this to every single person I know, so I've decided to vent it all here, and then hopefully I can continue on with my life without becoming a whingy pain to all my friends. Good plan? Possibly. Idk.
So a bit of a backstory - I moved in with a couple of friends about 3 months ago, into one of my parents houses in the city. No big deal I thought, we've all been mates for 3-4 years, and semi-lived together in college, so living together should be totally easy. LOL JKS, Lozz.
Probs an important time to mention that I'm a little bit of a germaphobe, with an irrational fear of cockroaches (just ask Ray). When we all first moved in, there was a unanimous agreement that we keep the public areas, namely the kitchen clean. Less caring about the other areas of the house, but we all wanted them relatively neat as well. Whatevs. I was fine with this arrangement as clean, food-free areas mean less cockroaches, and less germs. (duh).
So this is where dirty housemate makes an appearance. For one thing, she moults more then any animal I have ever come into contact with. For another, she doesn't really seem to care that I get her hair in between my toes when walking from the bathroom to the kitchen. My third house mate and I probably wipe down the bathroom at least once a week, otherwise her hair divides and conquers every single available surface. The occasional passive aggressive text of 'can you please sweep up your hair, as it keeps getting stuck to my socks', is cool, but she doesn't really take the hint, as two days later the floor boards have become shag carpeting again.
I also think my housemate has an aversion to doing the dishes. I went elsewhere for a day, and I come back to a sink full of plates/knives/forks/bowls/MUGS. I. Don't. Get. It.
What are you eating?!?!
How many different things do you need to drink out of?!?!
This is literally her dishes for one day. Unless she has a hidden stash of stuff in her room, just waiting for me to return to wash them. Seriously, I don't mind unpacking/repacking the dishwasher if she's going to be late for work, but I feel this is getting excessive. Surely you can spare 5 minutes after dinner to put your dishes in the dishwasher.

But it's cool, at least she attempts to empty/rinse some of those dishes of their contents. Not like the ubiquitous coffee cups. If I had more dedication to photography, I'd capture a montage of different half filled cups of coffee. My housemate enjoys drinking one third to three quarters of her coffee and then just leaving the remainder chilling in her cup for the rest of the day. Some fun locations of these cups include; the sink next to the toilet, the ironing board, next to the tv and of course, as pictured below - the more traditional placement of the dining room table. I've even found a couple of flies hanging out around the rim of the mug, getting a healthy caffeine fix.

Everyone reading this is probably thinking; talk to her about it, iron out these issues! I agree, communication is important. However, I feel like when communicating, it is important to have a receptive audience. Otherwise it kind of feels like you're talking to a brick wall. Don't get me wrong, this particular brick wall is very receptive in conversation "Oh yes, of course etc etc". Until it actually comes to put these issues into practise, then it's clear she just cbf.
Oh well, guess who's not going to get their lease renewed.
ps. So proud of my ability to put pictures into this! I'm suuuuch a computer hacker rn.

That's how my sink looks sorta, but I let it stack for maybe 3 days? Then I wash them. But for that to pile up in just one day? Ughhh. I tend to rinse off and quickly wash out cups or silverware so that I don't have to keep using more. I can't use my dishwasher sadly. :( Hate doing dishes, but ya gotta do whatcha gotta do. Your dishes are cuter than mine, I'll give you that.Posted May 16th, 2012 at 04:21 AM by Sydian

aww, that's not so bad. I came in here expecting sentient mould on everything. XD;
But if you guys made an agreement and they know you're a bit of a germaphobe, that's pretty mean. Sucks that they aren't being receptive to your complaints. (It drives me nuts when my housemates don't wash their own dishes and leave food caked on them despite multiple warnings from me so I can definitely relate. ~_~)
edit: omg and you guys have a dishwasher? Just noticed that line. Nevermind. No excuse. >:|Posted May 16th, 2012 at 04:51 AM by Lightning
