I'm known as Drew around PC
I'd prefer to be called that, rather than my real name, if you know it.
Off of my PC the name that I'm more commonly known by is 'Sho'. Not like the TWEWY character. The game wasn't around when I got the nickname. This blog probably wo-- Nah, I know for a fact that it doesn't get many posts from me. Don't skip school just watch for updates, you'll be disappointed.

Homosexuality - it's okay, when it's on TV!

The Homosexuality thread reminded me of this, but I don't find it thread worthy, and I don't want it to turn into some mindless flame war thread, so I'm posting it here where it'll get less notice. XD

Basically, what got me thinking about this were some comments that I've read over time on television shows that I've watched online.

Plenty of series these days have characters that are bisexual, gay, lesbian, suffer from gender issues, etc. More often than not, one of the points of those characters is to eventually be accepted by other characters, with the moral being that "LGBT is a-okay 8D yaaay."

HOWEVER
Some of the comments to these series are people stating that homosexuality in any form, or anything close to it, is totally wrong. Mean while, these people also go on say "I looove <character name here>! They're so cool. :D" Some have even come out and said that they could like these characters (be it in asian dramas, anime, manga, American TV dramas, etc) even if they weree gay, because they're ficitional characters. If they were real people, they'd find them to be sinners.

"I love yaoi and yuri (in anime), but gay and lesbian is wrong and disgusting!"

With some series, their main focus are LBGT issues, and yet people who are against that type of thing love those series, only because it's a work of fiction, and those characters aren't people they'll ever meet IRL. :/

I mean.. I've heard people say that type of thing.

I really don't get it.. xD; How are people okay with watching it, and liking it, when once they switch off their comps and turn off their TVs, they're against it again? So curious.

I think it's very similar to people who like villains in TV shows. It's alright to like the villain even if he's murdering people, because he's a completely fictional character and has no bearing on what you actually feel about murder in real life. I can't offhand think of any villains I've liked, but I know some people do xD I guess an example would be back when everyone thought Snape was superevilbadguy there were still people that liked him, when if they were in that universe and he was real they would probably hate him.

Not that it's right, but I can understand how they could have differing opinions :P

Sounds to me like these are people who feel they have to say "it's a sin" and so on even if that's not necessarily what they'd feel if they'd been raised differently.
