Slowly losing a friend

Posted March 4th, 2013 at 06:11 PM by Castform

This is something that has been weighing on my mind but as I was getting ready to do my homework a few minutes ago and happened to notice on my desk my senior yearbook. I haven't looked at this since graduation, but on the first page is where one of my best friends had signed it. I had looked at this many times before but this time it kind of made me a little sad. This person has been my friend since the 3rd grade and until the day we graduated we saw each other nearly every day. Now since graduation we have only spoken twice and haven't seen each other. We text occasionally, but it's not the same. I just feel like I am slowly losing one of my best friends and really don't know what to do.This was my only friend that I felt comfortable talking to and don't know if I will ever find someone else who will be like him. Has anyone else experienced this?

I'm experiencing the same thing with my best friend since her getting a serious relationship and me moving to uni, it's a horrible feeling :( The only advice I have is to try and rekindle it a few times, but if it doesn't work you just have to move on. People naturally drift apart with life style and personality changes, you just have to realise that there'll be others like your best friend in the future who'll get to know you even better and stick around even longer. Just look back on all the wonderful times you shared together as fond memories when you think about them and be glad you had them for so long - that's what I do at least and it helps a lot. :)

Thanks Ozzy for the advice! I know that friends come and go, but I guess it is hard when it is the first time that I have had this happen. At least I am lucky enough to have many other great friends that I can talk to even if it isn't the same.

I know the feel. I haven't talked to my best friend in over a month. It's a horrible feeling and idek if I should consider him my best friend at this point, but ehhh I don't give up that easily lol. :( Alex is right though, people do drift apart and it's hard to accept, but it happens. Oh God I'm going to cry haha. Bye bye now! n__n
