What is Vertigo?

Hey guys, Dipu here with my first blog on this account, so hooray for that. =P

I figured I might as well make this first blog a proper one unlike the first one on my last account, oh god have mercy upon my poor soul. I'll explain what vertigo is, and where it may have come from. And then I'll say where it actually did come from. :3

First and foremost, vertigo is actually a word, if you didn't know that already. It's based of the Latin word vertō, meaning a whirling or spinning movement. That makes sense, considering vertigo is a medical condition, specifically dizziness. There are three kinds, and I'll let my good friend Wikipedia take over from here:

While appearing in textbooks, this classification has little to do with the pathophysiology or treatment of vertigo.
So that's one possibility of where my username came from. Unfortunately, while I did know about all well, most of the above before hand, that wasn't the inspiration for the username change.

Vertigo is also a movie. An Alfred Hitchcock movie, in fact! Created in 1958, vertigo has its presence felt in the form of the main character, who suffers from the condition, having received it on the job. It's considered a classic Hitchcock film, so it'd make sense for this to be the inspiration for it, right? Well, actually, I've never seen the movie. So nope. It wasn't the movie either.

So what else could it be? Perhaps it came from Vertigo comics, the imprint of DC comics? Seems legit, I've done superhero themes before. Well... no, actually. I've only done Deadpool, if memory serves me right and he's Marvel. There's also the fact that I only found out about Vertigo comics when Alexial asked me if that's where I got my inspiration from. Nope!

So it wasn't the condition, it wasn't the movie, it wasn't the comic. What was it? Well, I'll tell you. Be warned, it's dumb.

That thing look scary to you? Well, believe it or not, that's where Vertigo came from. Even though the word technically has no connection to the monster, whatsoever. You see, that monster is a boss in Resident Evil 4, called "the right hand". When I first played the game, I had done a little research (and thus, spoiled the game for myself, crap) and "discovered" that this monster's name was Vertigo, or so I thought. Apparently, though, that was only a fan-made name, and not even a popular one, at that. I still call the thing Vertigo, though. That part of the game was scary af, even with it having been spoiled. There's also the fact that the damn thing was near impossible to beat. :I

Anyway, fast forward to yesterday, where I was searching up possible usernames to switch to. After a while of looking up possible names (I did do work, yeah), I took a break and played, you guessed it, Resident Evil 4. The same section with Vertigo, too. After telling him to piss off with my handcannon, I was inspired, and thus, you see my new reincarnation. ;D

So yeah! That's the inspiration behind Vertgo, a mix up. Not that I'm complaining, I love this username. =D

totally didn't do all the research right now

This is the first comment of thy new account, so I must make it worthy.

Vertigo is fairly common especially in older folks from flying on a plane. When my grandmother had a brain-stem stroke 12 years ago, we initially thought that it was vertigo, so yes I'm very well versed in what vertigo is.

It's pretty common for young people too, though we usually don't notice it.

I have vertigo. It is NOT fun. I think mine is the third one most of the time, but sometimes I feel as if things around me are moving when it gets bad and more times than that I feel as if I'm moving when I'm not.

I actually got mine when I was in Highschool. Nothing special, standing still, got really dizzy and collapsed. The nurses thought it was heat exhaustion but I was dizzy to the point I couldn't stand long after that. I had asked around and came to find out a few members of my family had vertigo, though none were as bad as mine.

I can't drive because of it which really sucks.
