an afternoon of shopping

Posted November 11th, 2013 at 03:46 AM by Hannah

Let me make this clear: I absolutely hate shopping. And I don't just hate it, I despise it.

But this afternoon I was forced to go through four hours of tailing my sister, cousins, and niece in a mall six-hundred times bigger than the Hoover Dam. Or at least that's what it felt like to me, anyway.

I gotta admit, though, it was pretty cool. I didn't pay for anything. Growing up as a poor kid, we didn't have the money to buy the things I actually like. So when one of my cousins got married to a rich British dude, she started giving us gifts that were expensive.

We ate first at a fast-food restaurant, and then she bought me three blouses and a short black skirt, all from Bench. Then we roamed around various other stores, until she found Silverworks. That's when all hell broke loose.

She bought me silver earrings and a necklace with my initial, H.

I know it sounds pretty awesome to get free jewelry, but I am so not comfortable with accessories. I'm a bit of a tomboy when it comes to these things. I just didn't have the heart to say "I'm sorry, but I don't like stuff like this."

And the worst part of it all was the fact that everything she bought was super-duper expensive. For me, of course. But for her, it's like she was just doing what she did everyday.

In my head, I was thinking, "Maybe she's just buying all these things 'cause it's almost Christmas." But when we got home, she said, "Just wait till Christmas! I'm going to get you a dress!"

I appreciate the gifts she gave me, I really do. And it's good to have a change one in a while.

Shopping's not that bad, after all.

That's kind of how I feel when one of my aunts takes me shopping. She has a lot of money and usually buys me and my brothers lots of clothes and food and somehow makes shopping fun. Plus she says funny stuff on top of that.

I kinda like going shopping to malls. Eight times out of ten I'll end up getting a video game. xD But yeah, I guess that is a dilemma.

Tho your cuzzie just loves you and she knows she isn't going to be around that much (married people ALWAYS invest waaaaaay to much attention into their spouse) so she is just getting you something pretty to remember her by when she can't come down during the holidays or something. :3
