2 weeks in blue

Posted November 15th, 2013 at 11:39 PM by Chase

Well I've been a moderator for a little over 2 weeks now and I thought that I'd do a little blog about it. First off, I want to say that I am loving it so far and I want to thank hstaff again for giving me this great opportunity . Secondly, and the main reason behind this blog, is I want to know how I am doing so far? I know that I really haven't had to do any moderation aside from a few misplaced threads but is there anything that I could work on? I'd also like to hear some suggestions for CC&P! Is there anything that you guys would like to see brought to that forum? If you can think of any cool ideas just post about them here and I'll bring them up with Dipu and Andy.

Okay for a start, I can't critique to save my life and I'm probably a bit biased. So let's focus on the double rainbow part y/y? :]

I'd say there's nothing you should be worrying about so far. From what I've seen the activity in CCP is doing fine and you're making good discussison posts etc. You'd probably be one of those mods that people can talk to without feeling intimidated and yeah. I don't even know what I just wrote but long story short, you're doing good. Oh right, I'm supposed to offer words of wisdom. Keep doing what you do jello. OKAY GO DIGEST MY AWFUL ADVICE, BYE.

Here's my thoughts on your mod career so far Chase-kun:

You are doing a great job if you managed to survive 2 weeks into the job, not that I ever hear of staff lasting such a short time, the most "short-lasting" mods I ever see only lasting like, 6 months or something. You make great posts and you keep CC&P thriving with activity alongside Dipu and Andy. They are of course two of the best partners you can have.

And based on what I saw when newbies were intimidated by staff (I know there was a case of this recently, with that ShinyHoundoom92 guy) you do a good job of showing people around and the fact you do a good job to make yourself easily approachable without being scared. I'd imagine how hard it'd take me to get used to being a mod should it happen to me, and if that was the case I'd definitely approach you first for advice on how to stand out and shine at my position because you're a very helpful person.

And if I was in the shoes of a newbie right now who was intimidated by mods, you'd be the first I'd ask for help. Keep shining bright Chase, we luv u!

You're from Alabama, so you're automatically doing a good job. Alabamian moderators are always the best.

I'm basically parroting what everyone else is saying about you being a very friendly, approachable staff member. It's nice how you always redirect members to the appropriate forum when they start a thread that isn't appropriate to the forum rather than just locking it and telling the member off. Keep up the good work. (^.^)b
