Five years ago, I bought a small orange and white furball from the pet store and called it Toast. Today, I lost the guinea pig I'd loved to old age and I'm throwing exam revision aside to come to terms with her loss.

She was sick over the past few days though she'd gotten better. We wrapped her in one of my old jumpers and my sister thought she's recover just fine.

Only after dinner was I told that she died. They buried her in the backyard and held a small funeral for her whilst I was at school. I'm happy they let her rest in peace but at the same time, I never got to be there to say goodbye to the pet I'd convinced my parents to buy all those years ago.

Toast, I don't care how judged I get for being 'dramatic' about your death. I feel bad for not of spending enough time with you as I did with Tweek. You were the sweetest out of all the guinea pigs I had despite all the times you've pissed on my leg or almost bitten my finger off. ALSO SORRY if I swore in guinea pig language whilst trying to imitate you. not my intention OKAY

ahfhdhak I'd just really kill for a hot chocolate and a hug at the moment.

RIP fuzzball, I won't forget you. :(

I'm sorry for your loss. I know what it's like to lose a pet to old age.

May she rest in peace.

Totally understandable to feel that way, pets are with us so long that they become a part of the family instead of just some animal.

My cat has terminal cancer right now so I really feel your pain.
Hope you cheer up soon nonetheless.

We lost a guinea pig this year, so I feel for you. She was reaching four and had sooo much personality and energy that we just didn't consider that her death could be around the corner. And it all happened in the blink of an eye. In 2014 I lost four treasured animal companions, only one from old age. You're not alone, and I don't think there's anything wrong at all with being dramatic, it's normal! They were part of the family after all.

Just think of Toast in guinea pig heaven, watching over you with those cute little eyes and munching on her favourite foods, or snuggling up in the clouds. :)

*hugs and offers some gingerbread cake and banana custard*

:( Sophie :((

Losing a pet is hard. They are a member of your family and it's so difficult to deal with, especially when it's one that you have had for so long. It's really disappointing that your family didn't wait on you to have the funeral. I am sure they had the best intentions with it, thinking it might be emotionally easier for you, but it isn't really. Saying your goodbyes are important when it comes to any type of loss. Just try to remember the fun memories you shared together :)

Thinking about you Sophie! <3 Sorry for your loss :(

Some of the hardest times in my life was when I've lost pets that were close to me.

....Heh. It's funny, this is something I've never really admitted to anyone before, but there you have it. I remember crying for days on end when I lost one of my dogs years ago.

So unfair we can live so much longer than our pets. I feel really sorry for you.
I beam a virtual hug along with this post, I hope you'll receive it.
