Why is the sky on fire?

Pretty much what I asked myself earlier this day.
Turns out that due to increased solar activity or something, the "Aurora Borealis" is appearing way more south than usual in norway, so it has decided to pop up where I live for a few days. :x
Sadly, this picture is taken from the "big city" in the area where I live, so it's not necessarily showing off as much as it is supposed to. In other words, I'll try to net a pic from where I actually live next time, as it is not exactly what you could call the most "illuminated" place to live [SIZE="1"](go desolate islands!)[/SIZE]
Here goes my sleep for the next week!
