As part of the new base PC design I'd like to eventually do, I'm taking ideas. But to start off, I've finally created what I feel the navigation bar should work off. If it looks familiar, it probably is - I've taken some design basis (right down to the font) from Microsoft's Metro UI ideas. It's simple, it's clean, and it's a bit more efficient.

I'm willing to take ideas, suggestions, what have you, so you, the members, can feel like you're participating in changing how PC looks. Since most styles change the header anyway, what's below the navigation bar you see there isn't quite finished and the final design of this can change depending on what you guys think.

Oh yeah, the sub-navigation links would, in theory, change as you hover over the navigation bar. Maybe I should put the breadcrumb in the same segment as the login box. Hm.

I don't have any suggestions now, but when I do I'll let you know.

We're detecting critical amounts of lower-case letters in this sector.

Purely cosmetic for the most part. The page content will be capitals and good grammar all over (except for sentences written by lazy people).

That's not the focus right now.

great design hiroshi, sleek and minimal and humbly professional- i like it a lot so far. i've got a few ideas up my sleeve you may take into consideration................and im um, a little self-conscious because this is a poorly executed presentation xD my pen was dying and i don't have a scanner U_U now i don't know a thing about implementation- what is and isn't possible, the weight of certain functions on the server- so i tried to simplify my more elaborate ideas. here's what i've drawn out:

    Spoiler:

i realize it's hardly legible, but if i explain you might catch on....and yeh, it's drawn/colored in map pencils v_v but...imagine it a little sleeker xD

the navigation bar: i'm not a big fan of the logo being near the content, personally i prefer how it looks above the navigation bar. i can see the Forum/Oekaki/Chat/Help links in a light font so it doesn't feel so compact....but i imagine implemented it'd be more spread out anyway. under that, more navigation links: User CP, Blogs, New Posts, Members, Albums, and Register (which might work better in the header links next to the logo, but anyway). i picture them kind of like tabs, inspired by Spectra Visual Newsreader:
    Spoiler:

but when a tab is selected it'd show a set of optional links in pictures.

    Spoiler:

these were the pictures in mind.

i see the search bar being a part of the navigation bar (is that possible?)......and you'll see i've drawn out a few search bar designs you might like. so there's that.

under the User CP on the left you'll see a pop-up box design. i was wondering how you'd feel about rounded edges- i think they give sort of a light, airy touch, so you might consider that.

under the search bar examples on the right i drew a tiny sidebar for subscribed-to threads which could be placed in the User CP. i was thinking this was already a little redundant to have there, and if removed there'd be room for more features.

underneath the subscribed-threads sidebar are a couple examples of a hover box for the username link and alternatively a new click-box. i was thinking give the users the ability to choose what information they want displayed on their posts (tbh i don't like having anything in that top right corner), and all necessary information could be displayed in a hover/click box. in the click box i removed the option to PM/VM/add contact etc, i figure that feature is hardly used (could be wrong) and redundant to have when you can click the user's profile and do what you want to from there.

also, i was thinking maybe there could be some set of options or scrollbox thing that gives users the option to change basic colors of the base theme- sort of like the bottom row of options in the Generation InVerse theme. i think it'd be nice to offer variety to those who prefer minimal but get stir-crazy, like myself.

welp wrapping this up now nice knowin ya

Looks pretty sleek and clean if you ask me Jake. :D

Is this the final color scheme or is that still being worked on? :/

I think I've mentioned this already, but since this isn't made to be some general purpose style but rather, a base default style, so I wouldn't spend much time implementing colour changes and stuff.

    Of course, maybe I could.

The idea is to outright replace the vBulletin default, so I'm using the same colours as it for a while. It'll be enabled, but for colour schemes, you can look for styles BASED off this style.

urm just posting here what i sent to nick- somewhat of a reiteration of my first post, only more neatly executed. also added my vision of a more simplified User CP...just a few things to consider.

    ok, all done

    Spoiler:

imagine more rounded boxes. im not sure how i feel about the top nav links (forum, oekaki, etc) but maybe you'll like them, or think of a more creative way to place them. and eheh the pokeball is ugly, but surely someone can make a more attractive one xD that ones just an example. and i like the idea of tabs separated by a color spectrum, not totally necessary i just think its aesthetically pleasing.

heres the cp......probably difficult to implement, but here she blows

    Spoiler:

i was thinking give the user the option to move the boxes around as they please, maybe even add more boxes, but with so few im not sure that'd be necessary. anyway, i was thinking the left side could be kind of an outline...you can select the tabs you want completely showing, which makes for a more cleanly area, less overwhelming...the current CP has text all over the place and it just feels cluttered and sorta messy.

I like poopnoodle's column and tab layouts.
Very nice design, Hiroshi (or Jake, whatever your name is).

The only thing I would suggest is removing some of the blank space, mostly the area above "forums blogs... searchbar".

    Other than that, it's amazing.
