frustrated

I have a tendency to draw and then stop drawing for a while, it's the same with my graphics, but now I wanted to focus drawing on whatever spare time I have. I also have a tendency to draw my "character" but then change how she looks later on.

Fiiiinaaally I managed to draw something I was quite happy with and what I want my character to look like obsolete, so I scanned it onto my computer hoping I could actually colour it in and what not.

BUT it seems my tablet doesn't want to work with my laptop. Maybe because it's old, so it might not work properly on a Windows 7 computer, but my god, how this is angered me. I just wanted to draw again and actually start trying to teach myself. I keep saying this to myself and I was so pleased with what I had drawn now I'm rather put off because of my tablet not working. I tried using the mouse to colour in, but it's just not the same.

I guess I can always bug my parents with getting me a new tablet for christmas.

Well, here's my drawing anyways. Unfinished of course.

    Gorgeous! I'm loving the ribbons!

Try this.. try expanding the picture to a big scale and then thresholding it (either with levels, or with the actual threshold tool.. though it'll work with levels more easily) The lines will look very crisp and jagged, but that's what you want. NOW! It's easy for you just to click and fill. :3 Easy way to get your colours down. Then you can lock those seperate colour layers or select them to do your shading (with the mouse you can practice a lot of cell-shading with the polygonal lasso tool)

Once you're done, scale it back to the normal level and you'll see that the jagged lines are now smooth and everything looks clean.

    And TA DA!!! :3

Don't get discouraged! Give it a try! :3 If it's still not working, then keep at it! I'm sure you know forest grovyl (sp?) @_@ Well she was an AMAZING artist who used the mouse for utter masterpieces.. I could never do what she does.. but she didn't let the mouse hinder her.

So practice and if it doesn't come out right, try a different (maybe more softer watercoloury) colouring approach!!

    :3 *THUMBS UP*
