A ride on the dark side

Let's be perfectly honest: I spend a lot of time on PC using my own themes (forum styles) and eventually get bored of one of them. Occasionally I just come up with an idea for a new forum style, but often I don't end up doing it. Or sometimes, I just feel generous and end up feeling like giving another forum a bit of my small-time talent.
Or, I use the idea up on my own inactive (but newly restarted) forums at The World of Rijon.
But sometimes I feel like I should be a little generous, but the idea falls through before it ever begins. Do a search for "Pokémon forums". Call me biased, but I'm pretty tempted to say we're the best looking of the bunch; it's from the creative contributions of many of our members and staff (and myself, of course) after all! But on my trawl to how other Pokémon forums look, let's say that the experience isn't so adequate. This time, I'd rather talk only about vBulletin forums since that's my forté.
One forum uses styles that look generic; where did they come from? It doesn't look like the styles were made for that particular forum. Rather, they look like the free ones you find on vBulletin.org and the sort.
One has... pretty basic but still Pokémon-related styles. Perhaps I could take a cue or two from the idea in future.
There's another that also has very basic styles, the default being based on a particular character, one with snow all over, one that imitates another, one joke... well, none of them really appeal to me. (This forum is the likeliest forum I'd make something for - then again, if its styles are so basic because of bandwidth restrictions, then my styles are probably more likely to KILL the forums.)
One popular forum is probably (ALERT: bias) SECOND best to our styles, but the difference is probably by (ALERT: more bias) an even larger margin. (Yes, this might be second best, but I did just imply that the other ones aren't even close.) I mean, what an ugly default style it has. The rest are somewhat colourful, even if a majority of them are technically variants of each other. (Maybe I'd contribute to this forum!) Actually, scratch all that. They all suck.
Though it should also be noted that PC doesn't offer too much variation: I COULD strive to offer color schemes for people while making sure the themes look the same: imagine the appeal Forever Standing would get if I had more than just the desaturated blue!
Actually, that would be overkill.
