Summer book club, anyone?

I've been thinking about starting a book club for a while now, and just wanted to know if anyone would actually be interested, or if this is just a pipe dream on my part?
It'd probably be a summer-only type of thing, and the books that we'd read would be ones already in the public domain (so people can download them for free), and there'd probably be one book per month. I imagine having a thread in C&M for every book, created at the start of each month, and then a few weeks in - once people could have foreseeably finished the book - we could start discussing the plot, characters, themes etc. Then we could choose a new book to read for next month, and the cycle would begin again?
So, would people be interested in this? I probably wouldn't think to start it unless it had a reasonable level of interest, so speak now or forever hold your peace! :D

I think I'd only join one if it were a more contemporary book club. :( I'm not a huge fan of classics or anything from their era. Given enough notice, I don't think it would be difficult for people to get their hands on a book from the library or borrow it off friends for the duration of the discussions, so I don't think books in the public domain are really necessary.
I do like the idea though!Posted April 28th, 2012 at 09:12 PM by Lightning
