It's not always black and white... except it is n_n

Hi I wrote a quarter of this before and it's up til now, kay enjoy if you want to idc. :3

--------

Writing this ahead of time, but when this is posted it'll be August 8th, 2012. This means it's 2 years since I was first modded. This is really more for me or whoever else is interested in seeing how I got modded and how the section has changed in the 2 years I've been modding it, rather than what I've done in my time on staff it's more only B/W-specific rather than anything else I might've done.

So moving on! I recall it was a cold August morning when I went on PC before breakfast, iirc, and I remember getting a vm from Erica wanting me to get on MSN. Normally I didn't get on MSN before going out somewhere but I felt like I should for some reason, like it was important. Anyway so I got on and Erica said she wanted to talk to me about rules for B/W because I was a regular there, and then she added Audy, which is when I figure something was going on. Then they were mentioning ways to get me to help them out with spammy posts aaand then I refreshed PC and I was suddenly a mod. HOWEVER, iirc there were reports. I was getting yelled at - this was the only Sunday Pop decided to go for a drive (and hasn't since) and thus I couldn't do the reports cause I had no iPhone back then let alone enough time to stall. I left soon after and got into the car and I didn't really believe any of that actually happened. When I got home I actually did mod work... except that was many hours later. EXCITING TIMES IKR.

The section was really active at first, and I didn't really do much decision making other than the basic moderating because Jake said don't make rules and thus I didn't make rules up until someone said I probably should so I did it anyway like the rebel I am, plus it kinda needed it at a later point. The release date started to approach and the smods kept doing B/W reports overnight, which kinda annoyed me because I liked to do them and at that point I realised B/W could do with a second mod, but apparently so did hstaff as at around the time I was thinking about it they asked me who I'd thought would be okay there. Aaand turns out it was Kaori, like I hoped. I knew she was going to get modded on the morning of the Japanese release date, so I kinda woke up at 6am for that while a group conversation was made. iirc it was staff only? Or did members get added at a later point idk I think they did to mislead people lool. Anyway so Kaori got "banned", then actually modded, then banned, then modded for real cause Hiiro kinda told the whole conversation she was getting modded lmao. This was September 18, btw!

Also just before the release date there was dramas because the Pokemon were leaked prematurely - ONONOKUSU! And thus how to deal with that got confusing because everyone was saying different things. Oh and the starter evolutions - everyone hated the designs and fought like crazy to prove they were fake... except they were real! Poor users. :( So yes the Pokemon release was a "fun" thing totally.

I think simple questions - the original version was made as translations, which was a few days before the release, something a member thought of, but it was kinda active/useful, and eventually become the reworked version of Quick Questions you see now. Anyway hmmm let's see... B/W was then kinda inactive for a little while, up until November-ish when on the... 23rd possibly (MAYBE?) we first saw the English names of Tsutaaja, Mijumaru and Pokabu - which were Snivy, Oshawott, and Tepig. MRAS was particularly excited that he was right about Snivy! After that the English name information kinda kept flowing in.

In December we went with Christmas in Unova - B/W's first fun event, out of four. It was kinda inactive but it was still really good because it got everyone hyped up for the eventual March release. Actually, talking about that, I can't quite remember when the release date was announced, but I feel like it was around January...? What I DO remember though, is around the start of January we worked on a description (better one? maybe idk I don't really recall!) which we both pretty much made half of, which became what it is today. However, that description will eventually change once we get around to doing that because B2W2 kinda ruins our amazing description. It could still fit though SO IDK.

Anyway uhhh, March was the release! Fun stuff, really. I remember it was like really active for a longer period, and I was still avoiding spoilers for 6 days before the Australian release lmao, which I did effectively, despite modding it. WHAT HAPPENED NEXT, YOU ASK? Well, not only did we have a March release date event which was crazy successful because we had a notice and an announcement and STICKIES, we also awaited the DREAM WORLD English release! However, that was put off because of the Tsunami in Japan so we had to wait til sometime in April iirc. But yes, good times! What happens next was um, April Fools, which isn't much to date, but Black and White became Stunfisk and Herdier and Kaori and I modded two other forums for the day. However the one I was stuck with was dead then (much like it's dead now lmao), whereas Kaori got the active one (aka T&E now, and Trade Corner). Oh and Kaori and I also pretended that Genesect, Keldeo and Meloetta were announced loool. BUT YES, that was about all for April.

May was the Eeveelutions DW event where we all got Dream World eeveelutions n____n I remember I got Timid Jolteon before I knew much of competitive and I was like damn I'm awesome. Unfortunately only a Mild Espeon. :( Anyway moving on from that fun event! At some point maybe at the end of 2010 we started weekly polls, something that exist even now. :3 They were overly popular back then but towards the middle of the year they kinda died out so we didn't bother with them anymore. Jake also took over weekly polls for a few weeks!

Mid 2011 was a great time period for B/W. Not only was Ole making threads there, but... okay, no, that was basically the only reason. XD; However once he left the section began to get a little inactive. Good news, however! Because at the end of the year we started weekly polls again, but this time because I was reading Pokemon General and saw Whimisicott vs Lilligant and I was like "THIS SHOULD BE IN B/W!" and thus... it was. The Pokemon vs Pokemon weekly polls continued until the end of July 2012, so they gave B/W a lot of activity there. Also in September, Kip won the design a third game cover contest! Only issue? B2W2, not a third game. BUT OH WELL, Kip's design totally should've been the cover of the third. Talking about the third, not only did someone from Game Freak say they weren't making a third game technically around the start of 2012, but we also restarted third game speculation and split it up into separate threads to generate activity! Only issue was B2W2 was announced like less than a month later. B/W did cater for that, and had prefixes for B/W and B2W2, while B2W2 was within B/W. OH AND AND AND we also had another B/W event around March-ish which was Unova Springs Back 0 an attempt at activity!! Around mid-April when the mass of information came out, a B2W2 subforum was made within B/W, however was moved out a few days later, effectively killing B/W's "mass" of activity.

DO NOT FEAR HOWEVER, CHILDREN, AS THERE IS A LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL. Kaori and I had a joke fight leading up to April Fools 2012, making members think that weekly polls were over and that we hated each other. LUCKILY THAT WAS NOT TRUE AND the section got through that. But yeah, moving on to around June/July-ish. That was when we started our "LET'S MAKE B/W ACTIVE AND DISCUSSION-BASED" campaign which you are seeing now. It's mostly effective-ish because it's more active than it has been in the last few months, and we made a feedback thread and... stuff. n_____n

And that is B/W's history from what I can remember over the last two years, minus all the boring details. ;)

I read this carefully, I can't believe it's coming to your second year as a mod.

But then again, I helped you and Kaori brighten up the B/W section with my amazing Unova Travel Journal entries, contribution to Weekly Polls and the Quick Questions.

That all started when I got Black for my 19th birthday last year and I finished the main story in just 13 days.
