Survived Black Friday [RANT]

So, for all that don't know, I work at Toys R Us. WORST DAY IN HISTORY TO WORK IN ANY FORM OF RETAIL IS BLACK FRIDAY! You get all the worst customers in the world. Everyone is on edge, everyone wants what they can't have, and everyone is ready to fight over a trivial piece of plastic.
This Black Friday I was stuck on the game case as I was the only one there that had experience in working the floor for Black Friday. I get a group of cashiers to run the check out while I tote and carry all the games and systems back and forth from the storage room or game case to the registers.
I have next to no time to actually answer questions and just my luck, I get customers that know absolutely nothing about videogames. I had to repeat the same thing four times to one woman before I said, "Ma'm, I've explained this to you on the level that a kindergardener could understand. If you don't understand still, you need to go look for another gift cause I have other people that I have to assist and I can't stand here another hour explaining the same thing to you."
It was rude, but I had 40 people waiting on me to get their games and the lady was trying to get an Xbox for her 5 year old and just didn't understand that there weren't many games her kid could play on that system and there were no alternative to the large sale games that she wanted to buy but weren't the right age rating for her child. I offered her the Wii and Wii U TWICE as they were more age appropriate consoles but she didn't want them.
I had three other ladies come up while I was helping her and start arguments with her so I could leave to help other. My day was pretty much full of people like her. While I survived yet another Black Friday I have to ask. WHY THE HELL DO YOU SHOP FOR THINGS YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT?!
Do not get the item if you cannot pronounce the name, don't get the item if you have to ask the same question twice. DO some freakin research on what you are buying cause odds are you aren't getting the right thing.
Why are holiday shoppers so freakin stupid?!

Because most people on this planet are there for a bargain. And their kids are asleep while they wait at 3 AM for a ekusu bakusu. It's disappointing to the kids too.
I honestly think that black friday is a dumb idea. You don't get normal profit per unit, and if your employees hate it, why do you do it?!
I secretly think that it's a conspiracy by the government to innocuously remove retarded people from the country, because every year at least a couple of shoppers rushing the stores get killed.Posted November 26th, 2012 at 01:25 AM by droomph

I would not be able to handle that woman. I would have said the same thing you said, lol. Luckily, you're not working in a restaurant where you have to kiss the customer's ass and be polite and bite your tongue all the time.
For us waiters, working Thanksgiving I'd say is the worst. HOWEVER. I somehow lucked out of working it. However, they haven't scheduled me in three weeks today. So...I kinda needed the money, but hey, apparently they don't wanna give me it.Posted November 26th, 2012 at 04:24 AM by Sydian

Might as well stick an 18+ label on every xbox console. And the PS3 given that you only suggested the Wii brothers.
Holy crap. :/ I'm sorry but if a cashier told me straight that I shouldn't buy this console and instead that console because he thinks there aren't games he likes in the former, I'd be pretty damn pissed.Posted November 26th, 2012 at 06:31 PM by Spinosaurus

I think it was just that she was so uninformed on the console she was there for, and people should do their homework on big priced things they want to purchase for their child, and this, as well as any console, is one of them.Quote:Holy crap. :/ I'm sorry but if a cashier told me straight that I shouldn't buy this console and instead that console because he thinks there aren't games he likes in the former, I'd be pretty damn pissed.
Plus, I'd be pretty stressed working a night like Black Friday, and the people shopping there don't make it any less frustrating. Something rude or blunt is bound to slip out at some point, especially when someone is being difficult.Posted November 26th, 2012 at 11:30 PM by Sydian

Its not that the kid didn't like anything from the Wii or Wii U, he just didn't ask for them. He probably didn't know about them either. The mom was there for the Xbox and Xbox only and complained about there not being age appropriate games outside the kinect which she didn't want either.Quote:What...

I get that a lot on roughly any day of the week. Its just she wanted that system with games that didn't exist. All the age appropriate games I did offer she didn't want to get either cause she said they were too childish. Even went and offered the Lego games which are E10+ which she again complained about them being in a rating above her child's age.
Its just she did no research on the items.Posted December 11th, 2012 at 01:29 AM by XanderO
