Every single time…
Posted January 10th, 2013 at 03:53 AM by Hiroshi Sotomura
A new generation gets announced. Not soon after (or immediately, as of Pokémon Direct) we get the first pictures of the new starter Pokémon. You might get some footage too.
And then you get the knee-jerk reactions.
Sometimes I have to wonder what spurs this reaction. We've gone through this four times already (five if some people didn't like the Johto starters).
What do you really expect? What do you construe as a better design? What will ever appeal to people? We've gone through this every single year.
And every single year someone tries to drag the designs down. Later down the track everyone adapts, loves them, or hates them silently and doesn't pick their non-favourites. Move on already, guys.
Perhaps more worrying is this:
Why the heck does anyone expect the games on a Nintendo DS? What do you think The Pokémon Company can do, guys? Put it on the DS again when the DS is starting to age, and in fact, was already old when you got your copy of Black 2 and White 2? God forbid it will end up on the PS Vita.
And then you get the knee-jerk reactions.
"The starter designs are horrible"

Once again, I wish blogs had a like button.
I find it displeasing the people complain about the designs and then get over it the next day and fall in love with one or two or all of them for some odd reason. I'm not usually a fan of the ugly ones (has anyone seen Froakie?) but I won't write them off because the designs are ~bad~.
And haha, what are you talking about, Jake? New games obviously have to be made for older systems or they won't sell or something. Everybody knows that. :IPosted January 10th, 2013 at 03:58 AM by Antemortem

Sadly we're always gonna have people who will write it off and constantly attempt to make others feel the same way. :\Quote:Once again, I wish blogs had a like button.

I have seen people complain a lot about the starter designs, I've seen it with about every generation except GEN I and GEN II. I think all of the starters have features that make them look appealing. People have the poor misconception of; Oh, I am paying for the game, so I think I should get what I want when it comes to the design of the pokemon and the mechanics of the game. Unfortunately, people are still to ignorant to realize it's not about what they want all the time, fans have SOME input and I put a huge emphasis on SOME on the games design.Posted January 10th, 2013 at 04:37 AM by Elite Four Lucian

"lol omg i totlaay agree wit you
there have been more lazy pokemon in te pasr genreeation roflmao"
whenever I read this (on any site) I just want to say "please get away from this site. You really don't belong in the culture here."
oh and you know what? Hating something like Pokémon is pretty immature for any "grown-up" Pokémon fans. Just deal with it. Come on.Posted January 10th, 2013 at 05:28 AM by droomph

Well no, it's not really immature because we all have a right to like/dislike(hate) things. I think the way some people carry on about it is.Quote:
Anyway, I agree. Admittedly, I severely disliked the Unova starters, but this time around, Gen VI's I actually quite like.Posted January 10th, 2013 at 05:45 AM by Curious.

I mean, who cares about dem complainers. I personally think it's time to move on to the 3DS, and I'm glad that Pokemon finally has a 3DS game. +1 for blog entry. :)Posted January 10th, 2013 at 05:52 AM by Leaf Storm

I imagine we're gonna stick to the 3DS for another eight years and fifteen games where the trend's headed xDwell, "hating" is what these people are doing, I meant. Disliking is an opinion.Quote:Posted January 10th, 2013 at 05:54 AM by droomph

Haters Gonna Hate, that's how it always is. I mean if we didn't have people complaining then I think the world would cease to exist as someone always has to find a minute detail they don't favor.
What I find humorous is the quick reactions of OH I love this pokemon so much or oh its absolutely horrid. I get you may not like it, but changing your opinion of pokemon every minute or so seems absurd.
And the people complaining about it not being on DS. Sorry but its on Gameboy now you need to downgrade. Honestly people what did you expect? That it would stay on the same system and that if it wasn't that you would just magically be able to play it regardless. Times change, so do systems we have had the DS since 2004 that's honestly enough life for the system. People should be thankful they maintained the franchise on there as long as they did.Posted January 10th, 2013 at 06:26 AM by Kenshin5
