Now for a matter of actual importance...

Posted June 25th, 2013 at 01:05 PM by Elite Overlord LeSabre™

Meet 60-year-old Craig John Oliver. In 2002 Oliver founded Dominion Building and Construction in Northern Virginia, a company that specialized in high-end home renovations and additions in the Washington, DC metro area. Nothing wrong with that, right? Problem was, Oliver, a convicted felon with a history of fraudulent activity dating back to 1982, was barred from obtaining a contractor's license after a previous fraud conviction for which he served federal prison time.

But you can't keep a good con artist down, and Oliver was able to obtain fraudulent licenses and open his company. Until 2005 he managed to defraud 68 victims of over two and a half million dollars. He would collect the bulk of the payments for a construction job up front, then abandon projects in progress, leaving victims with dangerous, unfinished living conditions, lots of stress, and forcing them to spend even more money to hire reputable contractors to finish and fix Dominion's incomplete, botched jobs. Unfortunately for Oliver, one of his victims was an FBI agent who was instrumental in the collapse of his own house of cards.

In late 2005, Oliver pled guilty to his crimes, but fled the DC area before sentencing. But the judge went ahead anyway and sentenced him in absentia to 20 years of federal prison. But Oliver has not been captured and has not even begun to serve his sentence. And it has been over seven years since he fled, along with his wife Jennifer. She is not a fugitive but is believed to still be accompanying her fugitive husband.

Oliver has since been featured on America's Most Wanted. One airing led to reports of him pulling the same scam in the Phoenix area. Here, he was going by the alias "Danny Sullivan." But he was once again able to slip away before being taken into custody, and remains a fugitive. Since he absconded from Arizona, CNBC has also aired a full-length profile of Oliver's case on their program, American Greed: The Fugitives.

Craig John Oliver is 60 years old. He is a white male, 6'2", 190 pounds, has blue eyes, and is bald with a graying (formerly brown) beard. His wife Jennifer Oliver is 42 years old, 4'8" (note the significant height difference between her and Craig), 105 pounds, with blue eyes and blond hair. The couple was last seen driving a 1998 Chevy Tahoe with Arizona license plates AAX-6801. If you have seen Craig John Oliver, contact the FBI or your local law enforcement agency immediately.

America's Most Wanted has since taken down its profile of Oliver, but Craig's FBI wanted poster can be found here.

Chances are that these two have already long-since fled the country.

Is this of 'actual' importance? Are you suggesting that people of PC will know this man?

Sure he's scammed a lot of money, shouldn't we be more concerned about the people/government officials who scam money from us all the time and get nothing?

    Um, what?

Members of this site live across the country and around the world. And many of these fugitives are captured because someone, totally unrelated to the perp, happens to recognize them after spotting them in a public place like a store or restaurant. One does not have to "know" him on a personal level to recognize him in the grocery store and report him to the police.

Oh, and he hasn't served any time for his crime yet. Until he does, for all intents and purposes, he's received "nothing" until he is caught. And I don't discuss politics on this blog. It's even messier than when I discuss Pokemon here.

Well, the vast majority of the userbase is strictly from the USA.

If I had to chance a guess at his location, it's probably Belize or something like that.
