Political Correctness occurs when you are not trying to be rude.. and there is nothing rude about wishing someone good tidings.

If I said "Have a good Thor's Day" it would be silly for a Christian to get offended. They know I am referring to a day of the week (Thursday,) and just because they use a different term it really shouldn't override the sentiments.
You took the words right out of my mouth.

If people get their panties in a bunch because you're wishing them a merry Christmas, then that is their cross to bear.

Haha, it's more so that corporations can cash in on more than just those shopping for Christmas. I don't see it as America itself trying to be politically correct, so much as I see it as an economic advantage to attract customers of all backgrounds to come spend their money. Which is, where you happen to see this the most.

It's part of the cultural war on Christianity, that's all really. Every other faith has some state approved status in the US, but not Christianity.

To demonstrate it clearly, each year a giant menorah is erected on the front lawns of the White House. No such privilege is afforded to Christianity.

I say 'have a merry Christmas' to my customers when I am serving them and I think everyone of them said it back.

I don't think it should really matter that much actually! Other than that it has been like that for ages, it's also just a name and whether it's called this or that, it's still the same holiday. Idk and I can understand why people would avoid using it but I don't really see that big of a deal with it.

It's definitely a cultural thing. In the UK, at least, no one would say 'Happy Holidays'; it'd either be 'Merry Christmas' or nothing at all (if, for example, you were in a mainly Muslim neighbourhood or something similar). I like that PC says Merry Christmas, as it seems like a large proportion of the forum's populace do celebrate it some way or another - whether religious, secular or a mixture of both. If the forum populace were, say, Jewish or something, it might not be as appropriate, but given the current make-up of PC, I don't see anything wrong with it.

I wonder whether we get to pick between both styles? Seeing what you have in mind, I do think that it's small enough to not to bother me.

If it makes you feel better scientists are probably cloning him as we speak. But on a more serious note, just because he has passed away it shouldn't mean you should give up.
