PC History

I had to condense this to submit to my English teacher. Please read it and think: Does this make sense to you, both as a PC-goer and as a regular person?

On July 13th, 2004 I discovered the Pokémon Community (hereafter PC) through the wonderful innovation of Google Search. I joined up, eager to find people to talk to who were also interested in Pokémon. I selected “TheSmartOne” to be my username, as my ego had been inflated by the fact that I believed myself to be more intelligent than other children. My first thread was entitled 'Is anyone from St Paul, MN, USA?' which tells you how entirely stupid I was. My first month’s experience resulted in me becoming a better member and person, but I am getting ahead of myself.

I joined PC when there were no visitor messages or friends lists, community members who were paired still had wedding ceremonies and receptions. PC was psychotically busy then. I remember The Nightclub- not my Nightclub, but the original. I remember my first pair to shadowman321, our engagement, wedding, reception, and subsequent divorce. I remember role playing for the first time at my friend Joe's instigation and failing epically. I remember many things, likely skewed by my 10-year-old perception but part of my past nonetheless.

Something I don’t remember was how I first encountered Joe. He joined thirty-one days before me, so I would not have posted in his introduction thread had he have made one. And since I had not created one, he could not have posted in mine. It is a distinct possibility, though, that we met by playing the game ‘The One Above’. What I distinctly remember is that we had enormous fun in the first Nightclub. We went wild and partied, drinking copious amounts of imaginary alcohol, dancing the night away, clowning around and actions that would have gotten us either closed down or banned had the staff been as strict as they are now. I also recall that Joe was the minister at my “wedding”. He officiated part of the ceremony, before proceeding to streak down the aisle. All the party participants involved retreated to a raucous party in the old Nightclub. We had good times back then, being carefree and in need of a good two-week banishment for our misdeeds.

Soon enough, my friend Nadan joined PC because I had mentioned Joe to her and she wanted to meet him. She made an introduction thread, the first of us to do so. If she contributed anything, she added a sharp dunking into a bucket of pre-teen drama. The popular, mean, sarcastic drama queen started to tear into the relationship between Joe and I. We discovered internet relationships and their intricacies. Joe and Nadan started “going out” but fickle as she was, she dumped him shortly thereafter. Then Joe and I “went out” and had a great time. We exchanged phone numbers, addresses and pictures, calling each other every so often. But Nadan was always there, stealing the phone to talk to Joe, stalking him on PC and sending him little love private messages. Eventually, he dumped me to go out with Nadan, leaving me more angry than depressed. There were arguments, fights, nasty private messages and blatantly rude posts. For nearly six months the scene was heavily dramatic. The war raged over probably eight different forum sites and possibly two full years.

In 2005, I was subjected to a six-month grounding from internet. I had no contact with Nadan, as we now attended different schools, and no contact with Joe. I vanished from their lives and they from mine. When I finally reentered the virtual world, I had forgotten most of the websites I had been active at and half of the war that had gone on mere months before. These battles had been my whole world and I was now faced with an empty battlefield; a wasteland.

Finally, I went back to PC. I posted a few things, talked to my mentor, Kaga, and left. Why did I leave PC this time? I am not sure. I felt as if the war had been waged and only I had survived, standing isolated on the desolate battlefield. The very place that the war had started was the place I found myself finding closure, knowing that the war was over. Joe had left. Nadan was gone. The once famous Nightclub had been buried and put to rest. All my friends had moved on or were planning to; even Kaga, for whom PC had been his world. PC was changing, and it didn’t sit well with me.
In 2008, I began my second year of high school. I changed into a social person, keeping track of the freshmen class, mothering them and listening to their gossip while adding my own. I made a Facebook for myself, enhancing my ability to keep an eye on my social network. I had fallen for a guy, Ian, that I had met the year before, and made many new friends. I was happier than I had ever been before; I got back in touch with Nadan and we forgave each other our idiocy. That year was one of the best I have ever had.

Early 2010 brought about the return of Joe to my life. I was, by now, used to seeing his number in my cell phone when looking through my contacts, but it had never occurred to me to text or call him. Therefore, it was a surprise that he suddenly texted me, asking if this number was still mine. I stared at my phone for a bit, not quite believing what I was seeing, but replied in my usual cynical tones, “Is this still Joe?”

We began texting quite a bit about the past, life, the universe and everything. He filled the empty spot in my heart that my former best friend had left. We quickly came to the agreement that the past was of no consequence to our renewed friendship. We cannot make up the years, but we are putting forth good effort. Soon enough, I donated $10 to PC and found that with the donation came a few perks; one of which was an on-site weblog. I told Joe about my newfound capability and asked him what I should write about for my first post in my weblog. He told me I should write about our history at PC.

To get the facts of our history correct, I took a look at Joe’s old profile. I noticed that shortly before we left PC years ago, Joe had moved to an alternate account (hereafter alt). I looked his alt’s profile and saw that it was paired to a user called Tiger-chan. Out of curiosity, I looked at Tiger-chan’s profile. Lo and behold, the user was my old alt! Funnily enough, it had been paired with Joe’s alt since the beginning and probably forever will be. We have put the past to rest but will always be tied to each other; and forever paired.

HONESTLY if you want to get the highest grade you can, you should mention me somewhere. It doesn't have to make sense. Just do it. People love reading about me.

This version of PC's history strangely omits any and all staff dramas, as such, it is the most boring version I've read. XD

This inspires me to write a similar version from my perspective, but sadly, I can't remember much from the old original PC. XD

Ohhh you guys~! Only Nica is old enough in PC years and active enough then to deserve mentioning. ;)
    aside from me of course...

Still, I think this is clear enough...you don't need to include the TL;dr that happened with staff, it's largely irrelevant to your story methinks. Frankly I am similarly inspired to write about my PC past...man those were the good 'ole days!

...by the way Smartsies, is the Joe you're talking about here in this entry the one and same person I'm paired to now? :p
