Adventures in COMiCPALOOZA - Day 4 will be posted tomorrow. For now....

Hopefully everyone in the Austin & Houston areas are alright after we had a giant storm go through and hammered us so hard! Trust me, it was something that I, myself, find it extremely scary. And this was a couple days after SW Houston went through a tornado.

I also made a risky move, albeit very stupid that pretty much placed my life on the line. I was spending the afternoon with my boyfriend after spending most of the morning at Comicpalooza, when I started to get alerts from my phone saying that Harris County (aka Houston) was under a severe thunderstorm, flash flood warnings, and a tornado watch. But I checked radars that the giant line of storms was going to pass by the area later on in the night. Originally I was gonna leave at around 6:30, but I stayed a lot longer than that. I left my boyfriend's place at around 8:30 when it started to rain really hard. He and his mom were concerned about my safety, and actually offered me to spend the night just to ride out the storm. I had work on my mind, because I had to be at my supervisory job at 7 am sharp. So I ended up leaving. It took me about an hour to drive from Northwest Houston (where he lives), to Southwest Houston, when it normally takes me about 25 minutes. The tollway was flooded, so I could not get on it. The Beltway was even worse, but it was the only route I had to go to. Having to drive through flooded waters, while dealing with POUNDING rainfall, and lightning falling from the sky was the most incredible I've seen, and yeah...don't get me wrong I was scared for my life. My boyfriend kept texting me, encouraging me to come back to his place...but I said no. And writing this now, I do regret it. I should have stayed. I was too stubborn and I felt really stupid driving through the storm. There wasn't much damage over at his place, so he and his mom are safe and sound.

Meanwhile back in my place...

Spoiler:

It was storming harder than back in Northwest Houston. Southwest Houston was a whole 'nother ball game. I live nearby two bayous: Keegan's and Brays. Because of both of the bayous reaching over capacity where they cannot keep up with the rainfall, they overflowed. I could not get to work in the morning, and it took me all morning to get ahold of my manager telling her about my situation. Thankfully she understood. Classes at many schools and universities (including my uni) were cancelled, and thus I am now stuck at home studying as well as finishing up stuff that needs to be finished.

Unfortunately, more rain is forecasted, but it's a lower chance now but it's not just that. There are other places in the US that are in dire need of rain. Most of Texas already gotten a crapload of rain. It's ridiculous, and as a California gal who's experiencing this crazy weather...I find it really fascinating.
