A funny thing happens when an old member returns to PokéCommunity. Bells ring, songs are sung, cheerful welcomes are posted and blogs are written in their honour. People literally lose it. It's a fantastic time, it makes for a great atmosphere.

I've been following a thread that's been active since last night in the New Users section where ex Super Mod Chairman Kaga returned from the grave. Everybody, each poster says, has heard of the legend of the disappearing Chairman Kaga. It sent a shockwave through the entire community, some had even thought he was dead. He returned to a hero worship so intense that it briefly made me wonder whether five years ago he had gone around the place performing sexual favours.

I've become so addicted to this thread, not necessarily because of Chairman Kaga himself (though he does seem awesome and his novel-length story was really amazing) but because of the responses. It's given me a small glimpse inside what appears to be such a rich mythology, and I've come to a realisation.

I want to know everything.

I've often expressed disgust in myself that I only found this place in February of this year. My complacency has cost me the chance to grow up here with you guys, and I've missed so much. It feels like I've started watching this amazing TV show at the beginning of Season 10 and now I need to go buy the DVDs and start right from the beginning so I don't feel like there's a piece of the experience missing.

I don't even mean just the big things, I want to know all the tiny details. I want to know about every legendary member, resurrected or not. I want to hear about the journey of every staff member, past and present, from their newbie days to how they came to sit atop their watchtowers, saving us from ourselves and each other oh God that was lame. I want to hear about every pairing, every feud, and how they all came to be. I want to unlock the secrets to how PokéCommunity came to be the PokéCommunity I know and love. My dream is to become the PC Encyclopedia.

Please, everybody, introduce yourselves. I want to know you, and I want to hear your stories. I can't wait for the fascination to begin.

If you want a good example of how to not be a good S-mod, look up some of the posts I made on my original account. XD

I don't recall the details, nor do I particularly care anymore, but I had played a fairly major role in creating massive staff drama back in 2004...all because of my 17-year-old counterpart's stubbornness and self-righteousness.

That's not to say I've actually improved over the years, I've just learned to mellow out a little bit and bite my tongue when necessary. XD

Kay time for a summary of what I recall. :3

I joined Nov 05, so I only know well, onwards from there. First thing was April Fools 2006, where this Todoroki person apparently hacked PC, yet he didn't since the staff at the time pretended to be "him" and caused lots of drama, and then there were rumours of Serebii merging w/ PC, leaked conversations from staff sections (which were fakee) and PC went black for a bit and got renamed to Todoroki community. I'm pretty sure sprite shops disappeared around then too cause it's all people seemed to complain about.

2007 was database errors year, as well as PC being down for about a week or so in october which I forget the reason of. During that year, you also had an end to the monthly DCCs, and only one get together (2006 didn't have one afair) which was the halloween haunt.

Then 2008 was pretty much the year of changes, we had visitor message changes (profiles etc), infractions added I believe, reputation returning, etc, all that sorta stuff. Oh and supporter changes, cause up until then supporters just didn't really have that much other than a coloured username. This also includes VIP forum and stuff.

2009 was a year of drama for well, the well known places. That includes rep drama, rep removal, members crazy etc. 2009 is generally not liked here by a few of us, but it depends on who. Oh and a get together towards the end of the year.

2010 was username change ending, three get togethers, a hell lot of fun (for me)... and damn it's hard to sum PC up.

I mean there's so many little things I know, and I've heard... but there's sooo many and I can barely remember.

ANYWAYS! As for staff member journey part. Oh God. Um, I was the biggest noob ever, went to hypocrite, then went to disliked member, then went to person who attempted to troll then I finally straightened up and became a better person. XD; And that was like less than a year ago sooo yeah.

I'd love to give more information though, as I remember it. XD;

I joined in early 2007 to download Shiny Gold. I spent my first months around the Rom Hacking board, posting mainly in that thread, and became friends with zel, the legendary author of that fangame that attracted so many people to the forums (I even made a video LP of a glitched playthrough that got me a spot as a beta tester XD).

Some weeks later, I stalked zel into the (now dead) member fanclubs board, since he had one for himself. Some time later, he had to leave temporarily for some reason (he got a virus, I think?), and I tried to wander into the rest of the forums. I found a Database Error Fanclub in Other Groups that let me know Nica and co. and I ended up following them into Other Trivia (back then, merged with Pokémon Trivia and known as Funtime in Pokéland- horrible name I know).

At that time, Smarties-kun (who then had a name change to Smarties-chan) got modded in the Older Pokémon Games section, and I decided I was going to post there and report like a madman hoping to get modded in there next. It paid off, because when Signomi left her forums, I was brought up for OVP even though I had barely made a handful of posts there during the previous weeks XD Ausaudriel got the spot instead (I didn't learn about tthat until I got smodded, anyway), and Digital Mage (Viridian Doubletongue now, I think?) got Funtime, back then taken over by Nica and I.

A few months later, around March 2008, one year after I joined, Mage disappeared for some reason and barely logged in a couple of times that month. Mewthree w/armor, a Site Admin, started to check The Count To Infinity and we knew one of us was going to replace Mage- and I was chosen. Hiroshi Sotomura was the one to tell me, since he had chosen me before to beta test his hack too, and he tried to make it look like he was going to ask me something hack-related, but failed miserably at it XD I was incredibly shocked and told all the guys in my group back then, and Nica thought it was all an elaborated joke and ran away hating me forever for a while, but then she came back and we got paired XD

Meanwhile, I had kept reporting in Older PG, hoping that I'd get modded there- but to no avail, and I was happy with having Funtime (Mage got demoted for inactivity a bit later). These days, there had been a large staff swap- Sammi had got AA to replace the now-banned Scizz, and Luke replaced Sammi as smod that August (I think). And one of her first tasks as AA was telling me that I had been chosen to help Smarties mod the older gen forums pretty much making two of my PC aspirations true (modding that forum and getting a promotion PM from her XD).

But that summer, Jeremy had gone inactive again, and he got demoted from smod, so a spot was open. I was certainly sure of getting it- and, in fact, I got it with Loki, in October 2008.

And pretty much those were my exciting days XD Since then, I have changed pairs twice (after Nica, I paired Christos and then my current love, Aizuke), I have had bad and good times on the forums (2010 drama with Fox and company), many friends I had left, met new people, and after all, had a good time.

And since I have been away from the staff just one week since October 2008, currently I'm the longest-staying smod. Last summer I thought about leaving but the addition of Drew, Nick and Hiiro made me think again. And, as long as I keep having fun and the crazy italized people allow me to, I'm planning on staying here for a while.

...So you too have heard the call of PC historian huh? Welcome to the group.

Chairman Kaga is one of the few members on PC who actually DESERVED the worship he receives. An all around charismatic person who literally made PC tick, before Nica even joined the place, before Forest_Grovyle was popular, before Signomi even was known! Before all the big names like Arcanine, Lightning and Hiroshi Sotomura really ascended to power, Chairman Kaga was a staff member. He was; one of the best who witnessed the founding of the community and more. He is literally older than I am in PC years. (And seriously besides a few admins here, and Nica no one really active outdoes me in years)

You are imagining that XD He got smodded in January, I perfectly remember how I dicussed his promotion, and I can certainly find the thread in the HQ.

I was smodded together with Loki... even though she doesn't seem to remember it anymore either XD

I joined in mid-2005. :> But around mid-2006 to late 2007 I never signed on so I wouldn't know what it was like then. All I know is, in 2005 it was great. Very friendly and exciting. When I came back around late 07 it was still great. That was when I really got addicted to it. Wasn't as friendly as it was in 2005, but the change wasn't really noticeable.

Early 2008 was really fun. Made lots of friends and posted endlessly. I was obsessed with it. It was my favorite period of time I've ever had on PC. :D

Then when the clock struck 2009 the place started sucking. Members started to become hostile to each other. rofl people were going crazy one by one. Everyone started complaining about how dull and dramatic the place was. It hasn't been the same since.

A chance to talk about myself? Okay. (And such negativity)

I joined in May 2006 because I had an obsession with Pokemon forums, having been a slightly active member of Serebii for a few months previous. Because of that, I knew already which section I would be active in: Pokemon Fanfiction. (This was way before the merge of PFF and Other Writing.) I posted around in there, reviewing fanfics and lurking the Fanfiction Lounge. The section had a close group of members that I didn't want to really intrude on.

I also tried to post around in other sections, mainly Pokemon General. After a few weeks, I left for some reason or the other. I returned because I love forums (and the members) just that much.

Also around this time, a few of my friends that I made on other forums started to post around on PC, especially in PFF. Something clicked in my mind, and I decided I wanted to try to be a moderator. Probably because I wanted to make the best place to post and discuss fanfiction for my friends. So I reported. A lot. Reviewed any fic I could as in-depth as I could. I made friends with the current mod, Careful With That Axe, Pichu! And he and I talked for a bit over MSN. I watched as he was promoted to SMod, and everyone wondered who would take his place modding PFF and OW.

One night in November of 2007, I came home from work to find a message on MSN saying that CWTA,P! wanted to talk to me. I signed on, and the gist of the conversation was that I was the new moderator of PFF. I was so happy I couldn't sleep.

I tired my best as a moderator, listening to the members to improve PFF. I made plenty of mistakes, but used them as learning opportunities. Unfortunately, between real life stress and PC-related stress, I asked to be demoted. But the demotion soon turned in a Demoted Leave of Absence, and I returned to moderator status two weeks later.

My memory's horrible about this point in time, so it's going to become a summary now. I still worked to improve PFF, rewriting the rules and beginning to work on fixing the guides. We had a rush of new members and the domination of the FFL caused the six-year-old thread to finally close. PFF and OW were finally merged into Fanfiction and Writing, making it easier on me. (I did get modship of OW after Klippy stopped modding it.) This merge was helped along my the only pair I had on the forum, JX Valentine. The Writer's Lounge subforum underwent a change into its current form. New members joined, and old members left. I got my mod partner bobandbill, which was awesome because it took stress off of me so my real life became easier. And I did a lot of growing up over the past two years to become a better person all around.

I hope that helps you a bit in learning about PC's history, especially the Fanfiction and Writing section's history. As I said, my memory isn't the best, so I don't remember the little details that well. Have fun learning about PC!

I joined here in July of 2009, right after I got my hands on Diamond for the first time. I had actually been out of Pokemon for some time by then. My intention then was to obtain all of the event legendaries for those games, namely Arceus. I also set up my trade thread 2 days after, on August 1st, which now has grown to over well over 5,000 posts and 82,000 views. Being in the trade corner so much, the first staffer I came into contact with was Twilightblade, resident awesome TC mod. :> Now, as the fall of 09 came along, I actually kinda left and disappeared from PC for awhile, nearly 4 months, from September- early January 2010. Once I came back, I fired the thread back up and continued on my way trading and whatnot. The only difference was that I also branched out of the wifi boards for the first time as well, and posted here and there in random places, at first. I went to Black & White, Other Chat, and Other Entertainment (Now Culture and Media)

(Now as for staff happenings, I do remember the leaving of Matthew and Beachboy from staff, them being two of the Smods, and the promotions of several other Moderators- Hiidoran, Forever, BinaryPeaches, etc)

After awhile, I settled in Other Chat primarily. Now, before this, Other Chat had a reputation as being pretty intense. I remember early on, during my time there that, A, The former moderator, Chibi-Chan, had recently resigned her position, and B, the Higher Staff had reached a decision to allow sexual & religious topics to be made there, before that they had been previouly banned, as usually when somebody made one of those, it always ended up in somebody flaming and trolling the hell out of it. (Fox, I'm looking at you) I jumped and made the first strictly reliegous topic, as well as a topic on the American educational system, which earned me an emblem, as I managed to create not one, but two, threads in Other Chat that recieved 100 replies, all in a short amount of time. Located here:

http://174.133.255.180/showthread.php?t=233365
http://174.133.255.180/showthread.php?t=233031

Building on the success of those two, I kept on going in OC, posting and making threads. Right around the time i made those threads, I was contacted by several staff members, all at once. I met the new triad of Super Moderators- Hiiro, Drew, and Patchisou Yotohru, as well as Sydian, Forever and Hiidoran all around this time, and struck up friendships with them all. Also, many staffers pointed out an uncanny resemblance to the former popular Super Moderator BeachBoy, whom I'm sure most, if not all of you, are now familiar of. This fact was mentioned and noted, many, many a time. (Not until later did I realized that the random staff interaction was essentially me being 'Interviewed' as a potential moderator prospect, therefore Chibi's replacement)

Things went smoothly through the fall, posting and such, and then, one friday before the end of the term, December 2nd, 2010, I was added to an MSN group chat, and subsequently informed by the gaggle of staffers there that I was the new Moderator of Other Chat. So I've been at it for 5 months, and I too took a pretty deep interest in the history of this place, so I dug through archives and such to learn about the history of both my section and PC as a whole. just ask Rukario or Arcanine, they'll tell you all you need to hear. XD

Tell me about it - I've been here a bit over 3 years but knew pretty little about Chairman Kaga, so when everyone starting shouting with excitement and calling him a legend I kinda felt that I also missed out there. Ah well.

Anyways, here be the largely unexciting tale of bobandbill!

My first forum had been sppf (which I am still on as an smod currently) in which I was mainly active in fanfics and some gaming sections - I was writing a fic at the time and decided I wouldn't mind posting it on other forums as well as seeing what other forums had to offer in terms of reading material. Hence I joined PC around March 2008 and took part in its Fanfiction section on and off, reviewing and reading fics and posting mine slowly, as well as chatting with other members in the FFL. I posted less frequently in other sections (again mostly the gaming sections). I also made the Beta Reader thread in the Writer's Lounge section.

One thread did catch my eye though - the GSC remake speculation thread! Now, Silver was my first Pokemon game and my favourite generation of my time (I'm not going to deny any nostalgia there =p). Hence I was a frequent visitor, although a fair bit of the time I was debating why/why not would the games come out because of this and that given the sometimes rather wild reasoning used by people. XD At any rate eventually the games were revealed to be in production and the HGSS section was created with the speculation thread moved to that section - I naturally took part most of the threads just as it rather interested me. From that (along with reporting the odd thread that was a duplicate or whatnot and pointing out things like why the Orange islands wouldn't be in it XD).

I guess I got noticed by the higher ups who were looking for a moderator for the new section and got chosen. The PM (from BeachBoy who was still around at the time) certainly caught me by surprise but I said yes and got modded in the months leading up to the Japanese release. During that while juggling my final year of high school I more or less steadied the ship I thought (with some help from higher-ups every so often like Jake) - made an FAQ/General Info thread, dealt with the spammy threads when the Japanese release came out and so forth. During that Luke (who had previously been an smod before becoming a member again) joined me for a while as mod before becoming a smod again quickly leaving me alone in the section once more. XD

The next year in the lead-up to the Western release (and before I started my first year of uni) I got another mod-partner though in Hiiro (who had been the most frequent reporter in the section after all and contributed to some sticky threads prior) who was around during that part. We managed it pretty well I thought during the release everywhere - a few months later he got modded in other section and then also promoted to smod so it's again just me there for the time being although he still pops in often to close some threads himself. XD

After my first year of uni finished I became more active in other sections of PC, including some more activity in the Fanfiction and Writing section after only getting one sole chapter of my main fic out that year (such as the Plot Bunny thread sticky), and posting in other gaming sections and started my own LP, for instance. I then joined Astinus in modding FF&W as well which was certainly nice, and with her redid some of the Poetry sticky threads and so forth. And...thus far this year it's been pretty much business as usual - I still mod HGSS and FF&W with Astinus, hang out on PC's chatroom and juggle that and two other forums with real life, go me and procrastination skills. Like now. XD

ummm... mine hits the word limit.

Kay now for a detailed response like I planned to respond with, regarding me that is. XD;

Basically, I joined PC on November 15th, 2005 as simpsonqueenj. On that day, I created three threads asking the same question about Pokemon music from the anime, all three of which got locked by Jake aka Hiroshi Sotomura, who was pretty much the first person from PC I ever remember seeing. Either way, a few days later, I returned to PC, apologising for spamming and asking a question that I knew the answer to, that'd belong in the simple questions of R/S section, oh well! Anyway, it got locked, as expected! Not long after, which was the end of December, I posted in one of those questionnaire threads that were around, and got a PM due to it. This PM was from a member named RoadRunner at the time, who basically asked because some of our interests were similar, if we could pair. I didn't really know what pairing was at the time, but I agreed anyway, seeing that most others had paired from what I'd seen. Moving on, I managed to find Mixed Community Groups, aka Pokemon Groups now. Along with that, also Other Clubs, in which I made stupid threads such as "the April 29th club for people born on April 29th", which got locked, too! After that I managed to find a group in MCG (oh God I forget it now) Buuutt... it was full of so much spam, and all I'd do was post Pokemon images and mention "those pics r cute!!" etc. Whereas the spammers had arguments about them being best friends and betraying each other with the other members of the group. It was quite amusing, but idk, I didn't really care that they were breaking rules. At that time, there was also another group I spent time in, which was something related to GSC, I think the GSC fanclub? Either way! Eventually the owner got banned and kept bypassing their ban on alternate accounts pretending to be his sister, which at that point we were all thinking of abandoning the club and just getting rid of all the drama. I honestly don't recall how it ended, but I think he just moved onto another forum in the end because he hated PC, I dunno. Along with these two clubs, I also had my own successful clubs, one of which was the gastly, haunter and gengar club. It was pretty active, but quite inactive as a whole when you compare it to threads such as the SHC (shiny hunters club) at the time. Along with this, I also spent time in the Arcanine fanclub, and the Dragonair fanclub, in which three of us would basically hang out and discuss those... two topics. I dunno why, but I found it a lot of fun back then. Through those groups I also made my first friend (A-One) who spent time in MCG. I remember on April Fools, I just kinda ignored PC was black and continued posting in MCG to post more pics, good times. By that point I also tried to expand to other PC areas, making a "sprite" shop, which was really embarrassing, because it was basically me drawing backgrounds and applying actual sprites onto them, which people proceeded to make fun of. Now I don't mind though, because I know they sucked!

By the end of April, I started to make a different set of friends in MCG, which were MightMightyena99 (or however her username was spelt) and altarialover. Soon they expanded to Typhlomence, !!*Alex*!! (idk how his username was spelt), ~Rene~ (I forgot his first username) and Soari (only using the username of because she's still around now). Those pretty much were my first group of actual friends around PC. We used to spent most of our time in the Altaria and Typhlosion fanclub, as well as the Poochyena / Mightyena one. Some of us also became apart of a PC family there, which was the craze at the time, but has kinda died down since. Back then we also used to have competitions in the clubs, which kinda occurs now in current Pokemon Groups, but nothing is as fun there now as it was back then. During about May 2006, I got an offer by someone I didn't know that well to make me a fanclub, which I accepted, but he didn't post in the official permission thread at that time so it basically got locked. Then not long after, my pair at the time offered to make one properly, which he did... and the fanclub turned out to be one of the most active in PC's history, as far as member fanclubs go. God we used to have a good time back then, I'm actually thankful that posts don't count there because considering the amount we posted, and the things we posted about... yeaaah. Most of us back then ended up getting fanclubs, but mine survived the longest for some reason out of the people I talked to. Back then I also used to post in other fanclubs to get to know other members too, which brought me to a few different interests, such as Inuyasha. PC was a completely different place back then, it seemed more spammier, but we all felt closer. I mean that's not to say I don't feel close with people now, but it just was closer back then with only Private Messages, no vms, no fancy things like that. Anywaaaay, during about October 2006, I got my first username change to ×× Nica ××. It was a scary experience, because I didn't want to lose my username – yeah I was weird about that. Anywaaay, when it got changed I was so excited, even though username changes is a really minor thing. Also at that point, PC was down for a time period, (which I found out the cause of at some point but now I forgot) and that caused a few of us to lose our custom avatars, so we had to have account merges. I created an alternate account to do this but then accidentally I forgot my password and got locked out of it. So as a result, I created a CQ&F thread asking for my password and an account merge. Luckily, Andy aka Arcanine saw and merged my accounts, which gave me the userid of 37888. My original one was 19049, which was a better userid than I currently have, but hey at least I have avatars now! At that point, Typhlomence also left MCG and went onto the DCC, so altarialover and I went over there to see what the fun of it was, since the DCC was the "in" thing. Back then, everyone seemed popular to me and I was afraid of most of them. Main issue? Post count, I became obsessed with post count regarding the DCC that most of the time I posted terrible posts just for the post count. During about January 2007 we both got told off and sort of got a bad reputation around the more well known PC members. By the time April came, I had already reached 10,000 posts (on the 5th of that month, actually), as well as decided to create a new account on the 11th of the month. And that's when my username became Kawaii. I was pretending to be someone else at first because I wanted everyone to forget who I was, and I figured that was impossible. I also wanted to prove that post count didn't matter, so until about January 2007, I used that account as my main one. The next few months didn't have that much, other than me starting "The Police-y Staff", a story... about, well, you can see by the name of it. On the plus side, I asked someone in Other Trivia to remake the neverending counting thread, which then got named "The Count To Infinity", which is still around after like 7 versions of the thread, so that's something. Maybe if I didn't ask him then, things would be different now. Oh yeah, and it was also closed for a short period until one of the members convinced Siggy to reopen it. That year I also made a whole lot of other friends due to that thread as well as get to know people like Went, who I noticed enjoyed stalking the livejournals of upper staff and then telling us all about it. Anyway, at that point, Other Trivia had become my home, and when PC was down for sometime towards the end of 2007, we all kinda went crazy. Luckily, we had BF (a forum I created, which was really noobish) and a chatbox to keep us all amused. Once PC was working, we kinda tried to make the forum active, but failed at it, so we stuck to PC. Also, during 2007 I got my username changed to Nica-chan at some point, which then became Bellossom, or simpsonqueen, I can't remember, by January 2008 because one of my friends (Kenji, who is now a banned member) convinced me to go back to my main account. Anyway, going back to about November, I remember I started to spend time in PC's chat, #tpc, back then, it was a different place than it is now. It seemed more exclusive imo, either wayyy, due to #tpc, I ended up leaving PC for over a month. When I returned, PC was completely different. Well, kinda. At that point, the username changes system had changed from usernotes to a different system where it just kinda listed them manually, as we have now. The skin I used had changed its name and I had issues "getting back into PC". Those things don't seem like big now, but well, they kinda were then. As a whole, this meant we could change our usernames once more, despite the last time of my username change being in January. I decided upon HOPPING FROGGY KISSES, while Kenji chose FLUFFY KITTEN HUGS. So... it was matching, but it was weird.
