I'm going to see Fame tonight. I know very little about it (it's a forced family outing), but I don't mind. It looks fairly good, plus I love the song (both the original and the remake). Actually, I'm picturing a Fame theme in my mind's eye right now. A nice render of the main character - whose name escapes me - on a light-gold background, with a gold fractal and some silver stars floating around. Maybe some pseudo-motion blur like my Miku theme . . .

Oh! Yes, my Miku theme. I love it. I know this could be perceived as egotistic, but I am so proud of it. I just have to share it.

Uwawawah~! I <3 fractal renders. (Can you tell?)

I've also been experimenting with a new style. Namely, this style.
Gaara . . .

And Haru-chan~!

In both instances, the text-blobs are covering parts of the original render that were messy or cutoff, but you wouldn't know from looking at them, right?

AND I did not use a fractal render in either of these. Sheesh. I need to download more GIMP plugins, but I can't seem to find Plasma (one I really want). Oh, well.

Anyway, life today was pretty relaxed. I divided most of the day between surfing PC (except when there was a database error), and making banners. I am seriously addicted to doing graphics now. I'm beginning to wonder if it's dangerous. Look, this paragraph started off as being about my day, and I brought it back to graphics. >:C I also had split hotdogs for lunch. They were completely inside-out, and it was awesome. Difficult to eat, though.

OK, since I started writing this entry, I've gone out, seen Fame and come back. I am blown away. I'll post a full review in the morning, but for now, just let me say that it was amazing.

Again, goodnight, PC. ^_^

Actually, Firefox threw a tantrum at me while I was trying to post this last night, so you essentially get three blog entries in one. Mini-spoilers approaching, but nothing so bad it warrants spoiler tags.

Fame was great. I'll start with what I didn't like, though. It didn't really have a main character. It was a series of short pieces over the four years a group of students spend at the New York Performing Arts Academy (lucky bastards), each vignette-type thing focusing on one or a small group of students. By the end, I was having trouble telling the characters apart, especially considering most of the guys were wearing beanies and hardly called each other by name.

But that's the bad stuff. The choreography was, in a word, phenomenal. The music was a mix of original (I think) and pieces from the charts, like Sam Sparro's Black and Gold, which was the backdrop to a very upbeat, and very amazing ballet scene. Sure, the focus of the scene wasn't supposed to be the ballet, but the teacher telling one of the students he would never be able to support himself as a dancer, but I was just watching the ballet. At least, I think it was ballet. It was in a room with barres and a ballet teacher, and the outfits were ballet-esque. It was more of a mix of ballet and contemporary though, imo. The guy in question tried to commit suicide later on the subway.

The Sam Sparro was my favourite number, but there were heaps of other good ones. There were two beautiful piano/singing solos, by Marko and Denise, which were both really good. I love Marko's voice.

That's pretty much it. Overall, I'd give this movie 4 stars. Not one to watch if you're just into sex and gunfights, but it was good.

This time, good night morning, PC!

You're getting better with the graphics! :)

Also, I want to watch Fame. I listened to the soundtrack though and I like it a lot. X
