Don't read this if you are 1. not a brony, 2. hate My Little Pony, 3. Just feel like bashing because you wanna. Comments are moderated. Thanks!

Spoiler:

First, Anime Matsuri…then Comicpalooza, and now…my very first Brony/My Little Pony convention: Fiesta Equestria!

I bought my badge since December of last year. They had a special on badges for New Years/Christmas and I was like…why not? Ended up spending $30, compared to $45 at the door. Plus, I was already committed to moving to Houston back then, so it made sense to actually go and not miss out!

85% of the Houston Bronies (a facebook page I joined), were also going. Some of which, are the peeps I've met at my very first meetup at the Galleria, it was really nice to see them again! We've kept in touch on Facebook, but we haven't been able to meet up as much due to life circumstances. Most of the group members are actually staff members of the convention, others were volunteers, and the majority of them were frequent con-goers for three years straight.

This is barely my first year and I did not know what to expect! I've heard pretty good reviews about Fiesta Equestria. Roy has gone to this convention for the past two years (this year he went for Saturday only) and he's told me all about it. It's fairly smaller than BronyCon, the largest convention in the US, located in Baltimore. But it's more localized, meaning the majority of the Houston metro area bronies as well as peeps from surrounding areas hang out at that convention.

To summarize instead of making a 3-part series, I went to pick up my badge on Thursday night. I was expecting to pick up the badge and go back home, but instead I found out there was an Early Bird panel at 9 pm. I had brought my laptop to entertain myself, so I went ahead and stayed at the lobby until the panel began. Some of the brony community youtubers were guests at the convention, namely Saberspark, ACRacebest, and ILoveKimPossibleAlot. I've heard from them in the past, but never got around to be a subscriber to them, but hey, why not? I joined a group of bronies randomly talking to each other. One of them, who is a volunteer at the convention, told me that he went to high school with Roy, and that the last time they actually hung out was when he told him about "meeting a wonderful girl at a brony meetup". He was talking about me, and boy was it a small world after all. I then joined up with another group of bronies playing the MLP edition of Monopoly. The game lasted until 3:30 am, and I wasn't home until 4 am. I didn't go to sleep until 4:30. Awkward moment when you're going to bed and the morning news comes on.

Friday was a full-planned day. Woke up at 8 am in order to get to the con at 10 am. I met up with a twitter follower named Dorian, who is an older Brony. Opening ceremonies took place and Dorian, me, and other bronies went panel hopping for most of the day. Ended up getting some Whataburger at the end of the day, and hopped on the Whose Line Is it AnyPony (a spinoff of Whose Line is it Anyway by Drew Carey) event. That lasted until 2:30 am. I was home by 3 and did not sleep until 3:30.

Saturday, Roy was planning to arrive for the day. So I ended up meeting him at the Game Room and spent most of his time playing Super Smash Bros for the Wii U. He even joined a tournament, and lost at the second round. Because of his current health condition (he had hair transplant surgery a week ago, so he is forced to wear a cap in the building to protect the scars from the sun), he can't stay there very long, and I was by his side all day. :) He left early in the evening, so after I walked him out to his car, I went back to hang out at the Game Room, and headed to Ponytechtronica, which is a rave party hosted by some of the fandom's amazing DJ's. It was pretty fun, albeit my feet are tired after all that dancing!

Sunday was more of a short day, not many panels were going on, except for the closing ceremonies going on later on in the day. Honestly, I came back to the convention as an exhausted person. I will admit a lot of us were really exhausted. I even drank so much coffee but that still didn't work. I ended up leaving a little earlier than anticipated. I got home and ended up sleeping for the rest of the day, a total of 14-15 hours. I ordered pizza before actually sleeping though, I ate two large pizzas in the span of two days.

I didn't get as much merch as I wanted, it's not because they're pricey..but I didn't want to end up broke! xD However, I did get all three of my OC (Original Character) ponies commissioned and drawn by amazing artists! My OC's are: Snapdragon (tech nerd pony), Starflower (nature loving pony), and Fastlane (racer pony).

For a first brony convention, I really loved it! I like how it's small and intimate, and how it looks like everybody knows everybody. I met a ton of peeps in the convention, as well as met some familiar faces. Fiesta Equestria pretty much defined the magic of friendship. There's going to be another Texas Brony Convention in October, called Nightmare Nights Dallas. Roy and I are in the talks of actually going there, but he's gonna have to consider buying his badge…because I bought mine already. xD

Yay, looked fun, that Celestia cos play looks really cool.
So brony cons are defiantly worth a visit? There are a few near me and I am thinking of going along.

definitely. check Equestria Daily for a list of pony conventions and find one that's in your area. It's a major hub for bronies and you are guaranteed to make brand new friends. :) Also, be prepared to spend a lot of money.

There are two coming up which are local to me in the next few months, one I can't go to because I am going to comic con (in the same city) but I am hoping there will be a big brony presence at the comic con (I know I few from UK of Equestria are going) buuut I am going with friends who are not into MLP lol.
