A Confession to my mother

Me: Hey mom, you called?
Mom: Yeah, why didn't you pick up the phone? Dinner?
Me: Yeah, that and the fact that, you know, nephew would come running after me and snatch away my phone if he saw it. You know how he is.
Mom: Yeah, I do, haha. Anyway, you better study properly. Don't slack off like you did yesterday. Sleeping early and getting up late and all. Don't make it a habit.
Me: Oh, no no, that won't happen again. I'll make sure not to take any chances now. I'll study, don't worry.
Mom: Well, when do you want me to call you to wake you up?
Me: I'll be sleeping at 4 or 5 so perhaps at 8?
Mom: Okay then, I'll hang up! Good nig-
Me: W-wa-wait mom, can we talk more?
Mom: What? You wanna waste some more of your time? Not interested in studies so wanna while away the time?
Me: No, I just...I just wanted to talk, that's all.
Mom: About what?
Me: Uhh, err, there's something I need to tell you. -i start breathing sort of heavily here lmao- I have never kept any secrets from you. So I don't want to keep this one either. Just promise me you won't scold me?
Mom: Oh, I'll kick your ass if the situation calls for it. Speak up now, kid.
Me: I liked _______. I liked her when we studied in school together.
Mom: ....

A moment of silence.
Mom: Eh, so your classmates teasing you and all that crap actually turned into true love? Wow son, you make me proud (sarcastically). But, you are aware that these are the times when you need to study, right? Concentrate on that, okay? Yoy guys don't just keep talking over phone there, do you?
Me: Naah mom, I just called her once on her birthday, that's all.

then we talked like we normally do before I hang up.

It is like I have a heavy burden off my chest now. I love my mother. I thought she'd get mad. She was so cool with it, haha.

The burden was liking someone?

I find it odd that your mom would be mad at you for liking someone, but then again, I'm guessing it's a cultural difference, like with how she's on your ass about studying. I mean, I thought MY mom was all over me about it, but judging from this conversation, it seems to be all your mom thinks about. I'd go nuts! But that's great that you have a weight off your shoulders! :) Now study!

The burden was of me hiding it from me mummah. I like to share almost everything with her cuz she's awesome like that. This was probably the only big secret I'd kept from her. For years.
