Hi guys! I know it's been a while since there's been one of these out, so I'm doing three whole episodes this time to make up for it. The fact that it's a three parter is just a nice bonus, ehehehe.

First up is Battle aboard the St. Anne!

It's not a bad episode but it's not exactly a good one either. Although its nice to see some stuff from the games, there's just so many moments during this episode which had me going "WHY GOD WHY?". The Poképyramids. James as a girl. The use of two seconds stock footage of jumping Pikachu. Not episode ruiners, but certainly head scratchers.

Personally, I would've liked to see something else from the games - the truck on the port. Ash could have spent the whole episode flat on his stomach trying to reach underneath to grab a Mew Pokéball. Now that would've been quality entertainment, amirite?

Er, anyways, here's the ELoT:

I don't think I've ever used so many capital letters.

Er, anyway, onto episode two - Pokémon Shipwreck!

I'm not sure about this episode. It feels a little bit like it's stuck joining together two separate stories and so can't carry a story of its own. The only over-arching story in this episode is Magikarp being useless and evolving into Gyarados.

And so starts a long traidtion of us never, ever meeting a Magikarp for more than a second and not having it evolve into a Gyarados at some later point. Although, to be fair, Gyaraods is a lot more interesting. You have to question the cast's sanity, though. After Pidgeotto finds Team Rocket floating in the waves - having sent him out to find land - they then forget to try and find land and instead just float their for what seems to be a whole day, getting hungry. Did nobody at any point say "well, shouldn't we try and find dry land?" They deserve to starve on a raft if that's their survival instinct.

Anyway, enough ranting, here's the ELoT:

And finally, it's time for episode three - Island of the Giant Pokémon!

This episode verges back towards the terrifyingly weird. The giant Pokémon. The Pokémon speak. The scene where all the Pokémon appear to be getting drunk on orange juice at a bar in the middle of a forest. But terrifyingly weird episodes are at least entertaining.

It's also nice to see some genuinely funny lines getting thrown around. Team Rocket's whole bit near the end of the minecart sequence is gold and this episode basically made me fall in love with Squirtle. There's also the heavy handed moralising, unfortunately - "Pokémon not bad! Master bad!" - but at least that's over quickly. To be replaced with drunk Pokémon. Yeesh

Anyway, here's the third and final ELoT for today:

And so ends the three part bonanza. I hope you enjoyed it - it was certainly fun for me to watch these classic episodes. Now, just to set something down. The idea of this was originally to help me catch up on the anime. That's...not going too well. So, I'm giving myself a timetable. I'll aim to get one of these up each Tuesday and Sunday, at least. I can't guarantee it'll actually work out like that, but there'll be one during the week and one at the weekend, possibly with more in the middle if I get the time and motivation. So, thanks for reading and I'll see you guys again soon!

Next Time: Yeah...I'm going there. Beauty and The Beach
